Something that came to mind about D.Mason

Is it me or does anyone else feel that Mason just doesn't get the ball thrown his way enough? I mean the guy in my opinion is one of the best receivers in the NFL and is "1" of the most underated receivers at that. I hope this year he gets the ball alot more just as much as Clayton if not a little more the guy wont be around much longer and we should take advantage of him while he is still here.

During the Colt's game if I remember correctly he had the ball thrown his way like what 1 time!? I think if we would have tryed to go to him more that game we could have actually won that game I mean Clayton was tearing it up but he was the only 1 they seemed to wanna throw the ball too.. Should have been alot more mixing it up to both of those two receivers.... still bothers me till this day though sorry I know the game happened awhile ago now.

If I remember correctly the stuff I read in the papers last year, D Mason thinks he doesn't get the ball often enough. ;)

Yeah i remember those comments.

I think he needs to talk to Mcnair about it and find out from him first hand why he may not go to him all the time.

IMO, I think it has more to do with Scheme and Billick's desire to copy his success from when he was with the Vikings. They loved being able t beat teams deep and Mason isn't a speed burner. He's the guy that we gotta look for on 3rd and short but 1st and 2nd down if we aren't running he's simply not going to be the primary route runner.

Well if that's the case it seem's like we go to Clayton 95 percent of the time on 3rd and short I just think Mason should get the ball more he has so much talent that we are not taking advantage of at all, and before you know it he will be gone.

He doesn't get the ball enough in my opinion I agree totally with him and him being pissed off about it.... I don't feel that he think's he has this HUGE ego like alot of fan's do and expects to be the #1 man. He just want's the ball as much as Clayton get's it to show he still has it and is still one of the best receivers the NFL has to offer and that we could do alot more if we would give him a chance instead of Clayton all the time then running the ball and throwing to noone else except William's once and awhile.

I don't think a WR should ever complain about not getting the ball thrown to them much but I think Mason was justified to be a little pissed after the Colts game. Mason may not have the size of prototypical WR but he has all the tools. He may not be as fast as he was in his prime, but he still has speed, he's elusive, he has great hands and can consistently make the tough catch. I can remember at least 4 times last year, where he made some great sideline grabs. If I where the Ravens, I would have used him on a screen and gone to deep to him at least once every game.

Mason has alot to offer our team and helped us out ALOT last year on some insane catches when the ball did go his way.... I do think I guess he does have to realize he is getting older and Clayton is on fire but he deserves to get the ball thrown his way a bit more.. I dont understand we have enough elite receivers to have a GREAT O and stretch out other teams d's but we don't seem to do it? I don't get why we still suck in the redzone.. with Mason, Willams, Clayton and Heap.. and McNair as our QB confused the heck out of me last year..

lol McNair has good chemistry with Mason and Good Chemistry with Todd Heap lol (tight ends are one of McNair's Favorite targets to throw the ball to) plus i just believe that McNair is trying to give the ball to each person Equally and not just a one man Show (or in the case of a QB and WR) a 2 man show

Could have fooled me during the Colt's game then.

lol ya that game was a bad obe for us....but as NFL network said "the Ravens were 1 Steve McNair Touchdown away and we could very well of seen a different team hoisting that Trophy"

our offensive scheme just needs a few tweaks here and there, we will do better this year, you can count on it

our defense was number 1 last year, so all we need to do is tweak our Offense a tad bring it to the level of our defense is at and we'll be set :) :) :) :)......im sure Billick and everyone of the coach's were busy tweaking our offensive scheme and im sure they have done that/ are in the process of doing so (with Training camp still ahead) we should see the pretty much the same Raven Squad as last year, with our offense scoring in the Redzone alot more often

o god yes that Loss hurt, and you can bet that the players havent forgotten about it....they've moved on, but you can bet they havent forgotten about it all.....that gives us an edge going into the Colts game when we face them this year again.......we have a deeper chip on our shoulders......1 that will require, team cooperation and teamwork...to (puttin in simplest terms here lol) completely and surely Annialate the Colts....we have the Motivation of that night when the Colts "snuck" out of B-more....now not only do we have that motivation....we also have...that painful loss, you can be that when that game comes around, all the players and staff will be 100 percent focused and dominating them from top to bottom.....period

so basically now, we have not ONLY 1 inner drive to win that game...but 2!!!! each driving each individual player to perform at his absolute BEST and to expect/walk away from that game with nothing less but a WIN

Just be carefull that the motivation is to win that game

NOT BEAT THE COLTS

The playoff loss was so rife with bad karma it smelled.

I think we throw the ball around to different receivers pretty equally. I say that if Mark Clayton and Derrick Mason can both get the job done, then whats the need to throw it to one more then the other? If we get the ball down the field, that's all that matters.

I just finished watching that game 10 mins ago. While watching that game it was painfully obvious that we were the better team. Many people outside of baltimore say how lucky the Ravens were last season and how all the bounces went our way. Well in this game all the bounces went against the Ravens. 2 sure pick 6's tipped away by Ray lewis, a fumble recovery tipped away by Ray Lewis, a int pitched back by ED to Cmac called out of bounds, fumbles by 2 sure handed players in Heap and Clayton. Not to mention Vandy's 51 yard FG that hit the crossbar. Not having BJ Sams really hurt us in that game to. I give the Colts all the props for winning it all. As i pressed the stop button on the remote I couldn't help but being encouraged about our chances this season.

With McNair having a full offseason to work with his weapons, McGahee being able to attack the outside of the defense and a younger more athletic Oline the offense will have no choice but to improve. Defense was far from the reason we lost that playoff game and now we have a healthy Sams and an explosive Figurs in the return game. The Ravens didn't lose that game because of the lack of talent. We lost that game because of missed opportunities and bone headed plays. Many will say the Ravens didn't do enough to this offseason to improve. I say we didn't need to do that much.

As far as the usage of Mason. I think the guy can and will perform much better for us this season. It won't be just his number of catches but when he makes those catches. With more 3 & 4 WR sets he will have more 1on1 chances. Clayton proved to be a playmaker last season and we also have heap. Those 2 guys will hold the attention of the safeties and allow Mason and DWill to work 1on1. Mason is an excellent route runner with soft hands. I'm sure he and McNair will get back on the same page this offseason

We need to be careful though this year. Last year all that cockey-ness and what not came back on us x2 and bit us right on the butt bad karma sucks and I don't want it as a fan and the team sure as hell doesn't need it again.

The team shouldn't play around again this year about the colt's and have bad karma on the their shoulder's again unless we wanna lose.

They just need to relax know inside they will win go out and play ball not "Talk Smack" prior to the game or weeks before..

Know this though McGahee seem's to love it here so far!. And when we do face the Colt's as nice as a person Willis seem's he will go out there most likely and give it 200% if not more that's the kind of guy he is just for the fan's even if it mean's nothing more then trying to win to him he will do it for the city and the fans of Baltimore he will be bulldozing Linebackers over all night long!!. I have that feeeeeling!! and such a good feeling it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! come on September!
