Any News On Mt. Cody?

30 posts in this topic

I heard he has lost alot of weight, the trainers put him on a special nutritional diet. Seen that near the start of the off-season I believe. Huge part of the line, cant wait to see him run over some steelers lineman

Cody is expected to be the starting NT this season, and with Brandon McKinney not practicing, he's likely getting a lot of reps.

I read Arthur Jones was starting over him a few practices ago, but the competition is still ongoing.

I thought Jonesy was starting over Redding, not Cody.

Cody will be the starter, and we're gonna see an improvement in the run defense. I've heard that Cody's actually pushing the pocket too. He's not getting a whole lotta pressure, but it's great that he's collapsing the pocket. I think he has a Wilfork type ceiling.

I thought the same thing when I read the article. Here it is. Maybe he was mistaken.

Cody getting some push would be huge. I expect Ngata to be a better pass rusher this season, and with Suggs, J.J., Kindle and Kruger on the outside, the pass rush is looking up.

Ngata and Cody are(or will be)> than Goose and Sam Adams. If Cody plays every game similar to what he is doing in practice, than our defensive line will be unstopable. Art Jones and Redding will have to step up as well. Now if we can get a Lee Evans than our team would be dynamic.

yes, I have news, he will destroy defenses
Or offenses... lol

Cody's gonna a key piece to the D this year, and in the future. He's gonna be one of the pieces that brings us back to complete dominance.

I am really looking forward to seeing the impact he has on our run defense this season. I think we could see some scary low rushing stats.

I read the same thing, but thought it sounded odd. Guess I just don't picture Jones as a NT. With Ngata losing a little weight but only getting fitter, Cody same thing and the addition of Kindle and Kruger and a healthy J.J. The pass rush is looking pretty strong IMO. I just don't see it being a problem this year. Plus a new coordinator who is rumored to be a little more creative/aggressive with his blitzes. Can't wait for the season to start!

Now if J.Smith can become a shut down CB, than our pass rush would be something like this,
1st down sack
2nd down pass deflected
3rd down sack

Ya thats a mistake, Jones is only like 305 he'd get eaten up in the middle of a 34 defense.

Wish I could locate the article, but it's reportedly all muscle. He was less than 15 feet away from me on Saturday, and he looked good.

I read the same thing, and was a little surprised that he was at 320. It could just be some misinformation considering everyone spoke of Jones looking much trimmer.

and for the record, yes, Cody= starting NT, and Jones only played with the 1's for acouple series (1) practice. Doesnt mean he will start over Redding. Although I wish he was playing well enough to start, hes gonna be a great player for us, just dont see that happening this year.

They can't run against us, at all, Ngata and Cody stuff up the middle, so we play with a new system where the MLB's play on the outside to put preasure on the QB. Thusforth, no points.

Actually Jones saw a lot of first team reps in Saturday's practice. Most times it look like the Ravens were working on their defense against the Pass, but he was with the 1st team nonetheless.

Jones looks so much quicker then he did last year. I don't know if it's his comfort level, he's fully recovered from all injuries, MMA training or a combination of all, but he looked really quick Saturday.

I'm trying so hard to temper my expectations for the pass rush this year, much like I'm doing with the young WRs and TEs, but I just can't help but to get excited about the youthful talent we have on both sides of the ball.

I also think we have the right defensive coach leading us, and that's helps a lot as well.

yea I'm excited also, and would be really nice for a big handful of these young guys to all breakout at the same time and be able to get onto the field.

As much as I hate to compare teams, It worked for the Pats last year. With most of their young guys, flipping the switch at the same time.

I actually think the Ravens have a really good mixture of youthful talent and veteran experience.

The thing about youth vs experience, is that talent trumps everything. If you don't have talent then experience won't matter.

I think we have a lot of talented young guys on this team, even the guys who are considered among the best in the NFL, Flacco, Rice, Ngata, are still young.

This is like the Ravens of past seasons. More respect. No one is going to want to run against us. I guess Hillis shook them up a little. I would love to have a mic on Lewis when someone tries to run on our mountains (Ngata and Cody).

the mountains the perfect nickname for our defensive line. Now, if we could get a DE through a trade than we would have a top DL for sure.
