Ricky Williams A Raven

Nice pick up, now somehow find a vet back up Center, QB, WR, and Tackle. I hope this doesn't take the TD runs away from Rice

Still say this is a downgrade from McGahee, so our running game hasnt really improved by adding Ricky Williams. Not that it matters since Cam seemed intent on running the wheels off Rice last year anyway, not leaving much snaps for the other backs.
Maybe not an upgrade as a McGahee to Williams compariosn goes, but over all, Rice/Williams/Leach trumps Rice/McGahee/McClain all day long. We actually have a BLOCKING FB and have still been able to retain a speed/size ying and yang to our RB's.

Based on this PFF RB pass blocking efficiency article, Ricky was among the worst RBs in the league in pass pro, along with Rice.

The numbers are a little deceiving for Rice because he frequently allowed pressure and caught the ball on the same play. Still, there were some breakdowns on his part too.

Let's hope both Rice and Ricky can improve in that regard this season.

Something tells me that Leach will be in there a lot more to help in pass protection.

Pretty much a Rice clone, just bigger. He has good hands so he could be another threat when Rice needs a break.
If that's true about him having good hands(I only remember his runs) then we have the backs with the best hands. Ray Rice and Vonta Leach were almost automatic when Flacco threw them the ball.

I liked Willis but he isn't as physical of a runner as Ricky is. Willis always seemed to avoid contact and later during his tenure here it started to hinder his ability to make the play or gain the yardage he needed. He will always have one of the meanest stiff-arms in the game though and I will miss. Ricky will not shy away from contact and I think that is what we are all about, being physical and taking it to the defense like our defense takes it to the offense. I wasn't sure how this signing would fit at first but after it sunk in it seems like a no-brainer win-win.

Super bad move at the wrong time.

Great way to support your statement with some reasons

Here's some Ricky video from '09-'10. I still say he's an upgrade over Willis.

I certainly wouldn't call Williams an "upgrade" over Willis (that's just dumb), but overall, the running game is 10 times better with Rice/Williams/Leach! Love it!

I think Willis is still a better RB, but I'll take Williams for a cheaper price. I'm most excited about Leach!

Ok I am sure the Ravens front office knows what they are doing they ar paid professionals and all and this is their job ect I am a mechanic nott a football genius so I now very little. But W T F is going this offseason it seems like evey one is making moves but, except cutting people. Some I undersatnd cut the old bring in new guys bring in youth but for god sake or best CB is a rookie, Nr 2 WR is a rookie, Oz man are ya sure? I still trust in Oz I try nd beleive but it aint easy. Any how Ricky Williams welcom aboard please stay away fom the left handed cigeretts till late Feb early march.

I seriously wouldn't even worry about that too much. They aren't going to rob Ray of his touches, and hopefully they get more creative this year so we dont end up having goal line/end zone situation and we start scoring from the 20 and back. Look what Leach did for Foster, Rice>Foster

I pity the team that drafts Foster

I pity the fool who doesn't pick him. They did sign Vickers who is no slouch at the FB position. Not as good as Leach but still a very good FB.

Ricky Williams switching to #38...

1WinningDrive Baltimore Ravens
Looks like @JayParmele won the rights to jersey #34. He said Ricky didn't even ask for it. Williams looks good in that No. 38

Funny that a guy that may not even be able to keep his job gets to keep his number.

I watched some video and I was impressed with both 38 and 44. Williams may have lost a step but he can still cut and has soft hands. It's cool to watch Leech shed the blocker and catch a pass on the fly. He moves well for a big man. Rice must be giving him half his lunch money every day to keep him happy.

Just reading through the news and some media thoughts on the moves for Ricky...they compare the combos of Rice, McGahee, McClain to the new backfield of Rice, Leach, and Ricky Williams and the consensus is that the Ravens have upgraded their RB situation.

Absoutely...said that as soon it all came together.

Rice = Rice
Williams = McGahee (as for as the amount of touches each would see as a #2...but mano a mano, yes, 29 years old prevails over 34 most every time)
Leach >>>>>> McClain (ten times over...FB to FB comparison and its a joke)

Ha, Williams is 34 wearing #34. Kinda Deion esque :)

I think the focus is the get the run game back to the level as it was in the years past, these movies show that. We ran all over the Pats in the playoffs and I can see us doing that again this year.

Ozzie knows the drill
