I'll miss Willis. He was one of my fave Ravens during his time here. Hopefully Ricky can deliver some Willis-esque stiff-arms too!

Always had respect for Ricky, he just always went about his business and didnt complain or speak out on anything. He had some troubles in the past he had to overcome and make hard decisions on but who here hasn't struggled with something immensely before? I like this signing, Ricky is tough as nails and does not shy away from contact. I cant wait to see him go face up with some LBs this season.

Just wanna give some love to Willis, I loved watching him play here. He saved our season on his own more than a couple times in the last 3 years.

Parmale absolutely will not be cut, Ravens like him to much. He will be our #3
I'm not so sure about that. The Ravens dont like him that much or they wouldnt have gone out and signed someone to take the #2 spot. Parmele has also been a ST player, but the emergence of David Reed as KR makes him expendable IMO. I would rather have Ant Allen as the #3.

My thoughts exactly. I just don't see there being a roster spot for him when we are younger and better at running back/Kick returner. When you have the last position on the roster left would you rather have another Running Back that hasn't shown anything or depth in the trenches?

Not nearly as good as McGahee, but okay. Just another position we have downgraded at this offseason. Salary cap is a

IDK about that but we will see what Ricky do here and when it's all said and done compare it to McGahee years as a backup.

It's marijuana use, a couple of personality disorders (for which he's sought therapy), and has had five children by three different women. Not really a big deal, especially when he doesn't have an extensive arrest record and only some minor traffic violations.

Views on marijuana use aside, it's not like the guy is going out and beating women, discharging weapons in public, trafficking narcotics, etc.

Couldnt agree more. His character issues sure didnt show up while he was in Miami, he was actually a model player.

Indeed. Ricky's made the most of his second chance. I can't wait to see him donning purple and black.

I think this signing has just as much to do with the passing game as the running game.

Ricky Williams instantly becomes our best pass blocker at RB, including Ray Rice. We saw may times how, our backs failed us in pass protection last year.

Well Leach and Ricky should really help us in that area, and Rice isn't bad.

I like the move. It's not sexy but it'll help the team a lot.

Also, don't be so quick to put Allen on the PS just yet. Over the last couple years, the Ravens have kept 4 RBs on the roster.

So if Allen has a strong preseason, he could force his way on the roster.

Very good point about Williams and his pass blocking.

And I think your right if we carry 4 backs, I just dont see Allen being above Parmale on the depth chart. I could be wrong, but I just know the ravens have spoke very highly of Parmale over the past 2 years.

Based on this PFF RB pass blocking efficiency article, Ricky was among the worst RBs in the league in pass pro, along with Rice.

The numbers are a little deceiving for Rice because he frequently allowed pressure and caught the ball on the same play. Still, there were some breakdowns on his part too.

Let's hope both Rice and Ricky can improve in that regard this season.

As old as he is, I'm not sure how much he has left in the tank. As a change of pace guy, he probably still has a enough, especially running behind Leach, but I don't know if Ricky can carry the load is Rice goes down.

This is still a good signing though. In today's league you need more than one back, and I'd rather use Williams then rely on Parmele, who sucks, or one of the rookies. Remember, our two rookie running backs are a 7th rounder and a UDFA. While it's relatively easy for one of those guys to be a success, expecting it right away would be foolish.

I would say that parmele is the #3 right right now, but it's also a long preseason.

If both Parmele and Allen/Berry have really strong preseasons, I wouldn't be surprised to see Parmele traded just before the season.

But it's a lot of time, practice and games left before that is even thought of.

adding to my previous post before about Adding Williams, i also believe that adding ricky adds to this team.... more power AND (if you havent noticed) a SIZE differential ....and to me personally... this is going to be one heck of a ride for opposing defenses whom will constantly....well maybe not CONSTANTLY...but you get my point, Have to adjust from the short stout running back, whom runs over and most of all..under, opposing players...and his manueverability in the backfield to out wide...

There is a size diference between the two players, Ray is the shorter, stout elusive runner, while williams is the taller back able to give the team yet another added dimension and adds to its versitility.

Bottomline is....... with the team having the short AND tall runner in the back field, opposing defenses will have to constantly be on alert and on their toes with their adjustments on how to tackle or Try to tackle, eack RB in our backfield.

I assume he will be the tokin goal-line back. With his experience in the wildcat he should be a good runner and find the open holes in short yard situations and with Vonta Leach leading the way it may end up solving some red zone scoring issues the Ravens had last season.

Well i didn't watch every single play that Ricky had, but from what I saw of him, mainly against the Ravens, he's definitely a capable pass blocker.

But we'll see how he pans out in that area.

I like Ricky but for that same money both Ronnie Brown AND Braylon Edwards could have been signed.
Braylong Edwards has too many current off field issues, and is too immature for the Ravens liking, just my opinion.

Ricky's numbers are just as good as Browns, and better in some cases over the last 3 year. Also, Williams has been more dependable then Brown.

Most of all, I believe Ronnie Browns contract was guaranteed, while Ricky will be incentive laden.

I say no to Edwards, but Ronnie Brown would have have been a nice pickup.

But who knows, with the way Ozzie holds on to Free Agent and draft info, like it's Government secret. The Ravens could have offered Brown a contract, but he chose the "Dream Team" over us.
