About To Do More Media Work Then Anticipated

Here is the story most of you who visit my profile see I am a church goer and no this will not be preaching so no need to blot it from the list. I was actualy asked by our media/worship Deacon to help with making a Visitors DVD . As well as some other media productions for the hall monitor and sanctuary preservice welcome screens. he has some ideas and I have some visions, I know windows movie maker is ok for some of this hardware wise i have 4gigs and a Dual core Phenom 1 . the big question I have is should I go to a quad phenom for the sake of time on the DVD Encoding ? and are there any non super expensive softwares besides windows movie maker that you recomend?
