Yeah, homeboy trippin' with the sign Cotchery over Evans. I think Ozzie is waiting for everybody to get release over the course of pre-season. I want O-line help more than a WR, though.

What would you guys say the chances are if Evans comes in that he steals the #1 spot from Q. I think he may actually have the talent, and theres a bigger chance it would happen than most acknowledge, although Q would probably keep because, well, hes just as boss.

i think we are related to any wr who could become a fa now...

i haven´t read a name that would makle our team better immediately. i don´t wanna any 3rd string wr youst that we´ve signed a fa. like i said many times before. i would be fine with all our young guns. i have a feeling that they could be great. we have a new three headed monster in the backfield what should open up the pass a lot and vice versa.

our young receivers are doing pretty good at camp from all what we are able to hear. they should do good in the nfl too as we have one of the receivers with the best rookie stats ever on our team. he will teach them how to be successfull immediately.

give a little love for our organisation. they know what they are doing! we will not have cap troubles in the next few years like all those free agency terrors will have...

No need to sign any of these WR's... they arent gonna put us over the top theyre just gonna slow down the progression of our young recievers

I don't think Cotchery is our guy. Floyd was a yes, this is a definite no. That is unless he's the only quality guy we have the money for at the moment. Although we all want to see a new face on the front page.. I think we need to hold off and wait for someone like Lee Evans to get released. I'm all for bringing in a proven wr, but Cotchery isn't worth the snaps he would take away from Torrey and Doss. I have a feeling if he visits we might offer him a contract. I hope he gets overpaid by a desperate team like the Titans or Raiders.

Oz will sit back and look for hidden gems once the cuts start. Some players that are expendable on their current team may be a perfect fit for us. All depends how certain teams build they're roster this year with the lower cap and new cba

If the Ravens are seriously looking at Cotchery, then Mason's legs must have been shot at the end of the season last year and the Ravens believe both he and Housh are done.

Other then that fact, I just can't see what Cotchery brings to this offense that Mason wouldn't. Well neither Mason nor Housh would have excepted a lesser role well, once guys like Doss and Reed started to showcase their talents, but it just speaks volume about how the Ravens feel about Mason.

He's a younger version of Mason and a older version of Doss.

My thoughts are "IF" the Ravens bring this guy in it won't be on a guaranteed contract. He'll just be insurance to the young guys for the early part of the season(mainly PIT and NYJ). These rookies and young WRs are pushing through training camp for the first time ever, so their legs and focus might not be their for game 1 the way we'll need it.

So maybe the Ravens are just looking at Cotchery as a guy that can help us get to the bye week, and by then the young guys should be fully ready to get it.

Other then that, I just can't see how he helps our team. This will be a wait and see thing for me. IF it even happens.

Anquan Boldin Steve Smith (ideal 3 year, 12 million)
Torrey Smith Tandon Doss
David Reed Marcus Smitth
I wouldn't mind Cotchery either, that is if we can't agree to terms with Smith and/or his injury doesn't heel. Cotchery's more of a #3 though.
what is this Steve Smith stuff? He's injured #1 and all reports say that when he can pass a physical he will most likely remain with the Giants.

I hope Ozzie is on the phone with the Bills. I'd rather have Lee Evans than Smith.

Speaking of Steve Smith:

"Smith had microfracture surgery in December. Vacchiano reports, citing two unnamed sources, that Smith isn’t expected to be ready to practice until training camp is over. He could miss several regular-season games as well, assuming he’s on a team at the time..."

A few years back, Frank Walker was our starting CB.

We don't need Cotchery, he's a downgrade from Mason. Since we released Mason, it doesn't make logical sense to pursue Cotchery. But then again, nothing Ozzie does is logical, so who knows what'll happen.

We didn't relaease Mason (or the other 3) due to production. It boils down to money. So, to say we wont pick up _____ cause he's similar to Mason is flawed thinking. If he's cheaper and equal to (to a degree), than it makes sense. This is just a general statement, as I do not hope to see Cotchery in purple and black!

Well the reports are that we didn't even offer to resign him, and then he signed with Jets for the vet min. So Ozzie must not even want him.

RavensInsider Aaron Wilson
Jerricho Cotchery took a physical today at Ravens' training complex followed by meetings with Ozzie Newsome, John Harbaugh.

Interesting to see if he passes his physical this time around.

I checked out some game film and he seems like a faster Mason, a little bigger at 6' 200+ but isn't as crisp of a route runner. How much faster I don't know, but he IS faster. If he passes his physical I think they'll sign him. It kills me how perfect Floyd would have been for this team but either he didn't want to come or the FO didn't step up to sign him.

Boldin, Cotchery, Smith, Doss, Hardy is fine. The passing game is a great unknown going into 2011...

I'm not really excited about Cotchery, but Jets fans seem to love him. If he does end up signing with us, I see it as more of an insurance plan than anything else. I dont think we can just pencil him in at #2...Doss and Smith will still see a lot of playing time.

I dont think so.....both are showing they may be able to play at this level (I know, only practice thus far, but its a good start).

miracles do happen cause i am actually agreeing with you on this one. :)

i believe that our young guys will do well and i really want to see them on the field. there is only so much they can learn on the sidelines holding a clipboard and sitting on the pine. they need "in-game" experiences! it's gtheir time to shine now! let's let them do it!

If healthy Cotchery will do the Ravens fine. The Ravens can't afford to go into the 2001 season(with all the other weapons) with rookie WR and only 2 yr tight ends and expect to have a shot at a title.

Again, if healthy Cotchery will be able to lessen the presure on the rookies. Kinda let them ease into the season so to speak.

No way the Ravens win the AFC if they don't get some help for Boldin and Rice.

Cotchery will help the team for sure.
