Let's not give Jamison Hensley any attention. He's a reporter unable to report facts.
He's been reporting the same info as everyone else. Most of the ESPN analysts have been off on all the big FA moves as well until the very last minute. Where else are you going to get your updates from?

The Ravens are one of four teams interested in Cotchery, a league source told The Baltimore Sun. Cotchery will also be visiting the Steelers on Sunday. It's also believed that the Chargers could be interested in Cotchery. Their interest, however, could be tempered after re-signing Malcom Floyd, who was an offseason priority.

In my opinion Ozzie has not even considered bringing him in, he is a downgrade from Mason in many ways. Youth and explosiveness is the direction we have moved into which was much needed. I just do not see him being brought in, not wanted.

From Twitter post to Aaron Wilson:

Tony Lombardi says ravens have no interest in Jerricho Cotchery. Is this article accurate? http://t.co/5g9T73J

Aaron Wilson's response: Exactly. It didn't work out. It happens.

So, Cotchery to Ravens looks like a no go.

Stop citing Jamison Hensley as a source, he's been nothing but wrong this offseason.

He's never been excellent, and he can't pass a physical. Very glad were not interested.

Don't want Jericho Cotchery he's always been injured with the Jets or thats how it seems, and thats not good.

I'd rather stick with the young guys if they prove they can do it and/or acquire a WR through a trade

..or check out a guy like Steve Smith, he's a free agent coming off injury so we'd have to see where he's at

naw! i am ready to see our young pups on the field! there is only sooooo much they can learn on the sidelines carrying clipboards and sitting on the pine! they need some "in-game" experiences. the time is now!

No, I think the Ravens are out of the FA market for the time being. It's possible they'll snag some players once teams make their pre-season cuts, they could still use depth along the OL, pass-rush, and maybe a veteran WR if a team drops someone good enough and/or if the young players struggle.

Cotchery? Eh. There's a reason Jets fans soured on him. Inconsistent play and dropped passes.

Lets stop all the <crap> and go with the Rookies who are awesome. Since Mason decided to sign with the Jets we don't want any reject from them. I am on the fench with Housh, so if the FO needs a vet at WR bring him back. Otherwise Please stop all the what if's. The Rookies will step up and preform like no others.

Some interesting figures from Jamison Hensley:

jamisonhensley Jamison Hensley
Take away Boldin and the avg age of #Ravens WRs and TES is 24 yrs old. Group combined to make just 12 catches at the NFL level last year

Talk about youth.
Take away Flacco and our QB's have 0 throws in the NFL. Take away Reed and our safeties have 0 INTs.

Having only one veteran WR isn't a bad thing. This team just isn't used to it. Maybe our WRs don't have much NFL experience, but that doesn't mean they don't know how to catch.

In our Super Bowl year (again I compare us to them) our only vet WR was Qadry Ismail with Tony Banks and Trent freaking Dilfer lofting him the ball.

Zibby, Pollard and Haruki have all picked off passes in their respective careers.

Bring back Housh or sign Steve Smith. Cotchery is washed up.
Housh is 33 and had 30 receptions last year.
Smith tore his ACL last year.
Cotchery is 29 and had 41 receptions last year.

You can make an argument for any one of these three, but why is Cotchery "washed up", and TJ isn't?

I meant 2010 regular season alone. I'm pretty sure none of our other safeties had a pick until Dawan against KC. Then again I don't feel like checking.

I really don't see the Ravens going after Cotchery. He's just a few years younger version of Mason. Imo the Ravens are looking for guys who can attack the defense downfield, which would make Lee Evans(if true) the better option.

Cotchery is a good pass catcher, and he finds space in the defense, but if we add him or Housh, we'd be going right back to last year. Guys like that really have to rely on other guys to be successful within the offense for them to maximize their production.

Cotchery average 12.6ypc over his career. If he doesn't stretch the field, which that's not his game, then there isn't a use for him here.

The Ravens have a vertical style offense with a QB who wants to be more aggressive and push the ball down field more.

We've spent the entire offseason talking about how the offense struggled because guys like Housh and Mason didn't really fit what we were looking to do. So why add another guy who's just a carbon copy of those 2 guys. If that was the case we'd just re-sign Housh and wouldn't have cut Mason.

The Ravens aren't just gonna go our and get a guy because he's a "vet" who can help with the young guys. No, whoever it is will have to fit the new approach of this offense. Guys who can make plays down the field.

That's why the Ravens had interest in Malcolm Floyd, but didn't have interest in bringing Mason back. Because Floyd would have given up a down field presence.

Cotchery being linked to the Ravens is nothing more then the media thinking like some of the fans. That the Ravens are in the market for a WR because we have so many young guys. That's not the case. We're in the market for any WR who can add an explosive element to this offense.

If the Ravens go out and get somebody, it'll be via trade and it'll be a veteran guy who can make plays down field on a 1 or maybe 2 year basis.

While I wouldn't be opposed to Cotchery or Houshmandzadeh, my only concern with Housh is his temper, which the Ravens have done a good job of handling on offense and defense. I wouldn't want Housh throwing his helmet again on a bad call like he did with the Bengals. You never know when those outbursts could cost the Ravens some precious yards in a crucial game.
I wouldn't worry too much about. Remember, Mason blew up in the refs' faces twice in 2009 when he felt he deserved a PI call his way and got called for unsportsman like conduct each time.

True, but Housh had a year in the offense. Both Housh and Cotchery are washed up, but Housh knows the offense better than Cotchery. And mhead66, just because Steve Smith got hurt, you wouldnt sign him?

I've said for years that these guys are no different then us, and most get their information the say way we do, via other media outlets.

These guys are nothing more then fans with opinions just like most of us on this board. They just have many people follow them because they write for a paper or work for a network.

I think I'll pass. Old, washed up, etc. This would be a downgrade from Mason, at least Mason can catch consistently.

Time to get young!!!!!
