[Blogs] Mason Joins Jets

408 posts in this topic

Not a lot to say I liked Mason a lot but; I can't blame him for going to a team that wanted him instead of one that treated him like a step child.

I hope we don't take it on the chin for the Heap, Mason "thing".

I wish Derick and Todd the best except when they play the Ravens.

Thanks Guys...

good people we all need to relax, now take a deep breathe...does that feel better? mason as much as i loved him he is past his time i dont blame the office for not paying him. you all are not looking at the big picture here flacco is the leader of tomorrow not all qb's that enter the league somehow become bigben and win a superbowl in there second year we are on the cusp so relax. people athletes are not loyal the majority of them are not ray lewis or peyton manning!!! everyone is looking for the money or if they cant get what they are looking for they sign with a team who are about to win a superbowl. we need to go younger people there's no other way than the way we are doing it now. malcolm floyd perfect example the only reason he didnt come to baltimore and i believe thas with all of the free agents out their is familiarity and no money...just think about it, after we won the superbowl we stunk so just relax!!!

Ben was a fluke. he posted a 22.9 (or something like that) in that game he is aabsolutely nothing special and honestly hasnt improved much since then. He's just gigantic and has receivers that do a ton of work to make him look good.

Let them have the old dog.. hes old and most people are right about it being time to move on. All mason was is sideline catches. Granted he did a lot for the Ravens offense with the "Sideline" catch but at the end of the day it was not enough so it's time to move on. But what the Ravens fans need to realize he is now the enemy you think he care about the ravens fans NO it's all about the jets for him. So i say F-him and i better not hear him say to any media that Mark is better the Flacco cause i see it happening.

I actually wish our name would stop being brought up with WR's. How would you like to get a new job and the only thing every always talked about was bringing in a guy that is a instant upgrade? I like whatever it is my ravens do that's why I am fan. Maybe we should all sit back and think about what being a fan means. Everyone who sits around on the comments and begs for certain players should really calm it. We have players here. i heard over 90. They might not have a household name but give them a chance. Ray Lewis was the 5th Lb taken in his draft.... perfect example. Lets go 9/11

Can any one here Really Blame Mason???? The front office dropped him like old garbage, then went out looking for what they "publicly" said was an upgrade. After they dropped the ball, and couldn't get the cap window down fast enough to bring in a big name player, they came back to Mason and said, "OK, we'll take you back". I don't think any "Man" wants to feel like second best, or worse. They pretty much h told Mason, we couldn't find any body so we'll take ya back cause we don't have any one else. I was always a Huge D.M. fan, but now I've Got twice the respect for him. Good Luck Mase, and sorry ahead of time for the Neck Snappin hits you're gonna take when Ray says "Hi" in the Middle.

Mason played the retire or pay me game!I can,t side with mason for that reason.

FM, I am patient, but as time goes on, I am getting more and more worried. D is solid and deep, but O has A LOT of holes: Oline has only 3 proven starters and absolutely no depth, recievers are all young and unproven, backfield has awesome starters, but again absolutely no depth. As time goes on I am wondering where the pieces on offense are gonna come from.

Well Risencon, you missed the point. If the ravens can get hot in the playoffs we will win the super bowl and that's how it works...remember 2000?.. and the Pats went down in the wild card round even though they went 14 and 2. My point is all this is moot until the playoffs start and the ravens will be there, simply because there are not eight better teams.

Best of luck to you Mason. The Jets are doing what we did last year. Only for them age isn't on their side. Let our young guns run rampant on the field

Rex failed to grap the first three guys we cut, so I knew he'd jump on Mase. I'm just wondering why Mase took the Jets over us, or even the Titans!

Watching today's practice it looked like the O line was a bigger issue than the receivers. The pocket constantly collapsed but it looked like the receivers were getting separation. The interceptions came mainly from tipped balls and the QBs getting bumped around. Looks like the Ravens are going to be a passing team regardless of the addition of Leach.

Yep you're right...just a sideline catch kinda guy for sure:
http://youtu.be/8P_7-12dLGg

and never mind single-handedly beating the Cowboys after dislocating the same shoulder 3 times in one game
http://youtu.be/V8zcATPSDis

what you call "just a sideline catch" most other people call "good/smart route running and shaking defenders"

Rex is our dog walker... he scoops up our poo poo! Mason will have 30 catches for 500 yrds at best. Burress will be lucky to play 10 games, he is a china doll..

Ravens fans are spoiled! The team always had good players and now its team to start the rookies like most teams in the NFL.Don,t worry about not have vets on the team or did you forget that Joe Flacco played better than 80% of the VETs his first year?

no he didnt...that's completely wrong.

Mason was signed to a 2 year deal here, which the Ravens FO cut short by one year when they released him at the start of free agency.

Thanks to mase for what he brought to our team , but really Oz and Co.decided to move when they released him.(IMHO) Didn't most of us fans want to draft T.Smith to stretch the field ? Well we got want we wanted, so TURN him loose!!!!

I am so tired of all of the negativity from several Ravens fans!!!! Derrick Mason is a 37 year old wide receiver that is past his prime. If you haven't noticed we are in the process of getting younger, so we do not have to go through a rebuilding phase. That is what has killed us in the past ie... after the Super Bowl year. Ozzie and company are in the process of putting together the best 53 man roster they can while staying under the salary cap this year. Meanwhile they are still going to have us in the playoffs and once there only the best team will rise to the top. By cutting ties with Mason, Heap, Greg, McGahee and anybody else that we may have to cut before the season begins is only going to allow this team to be stronger. Over the next 5 years I see the Baltimore Ravens having multiple championships, and I am going to enjoy every second of the ride.

Get attached to the jersey not the name on the back of it!!! Good Luck to all of the Ravens that have left the flock and let's go get that second SuperBowl. Go Ravens!!!!!!!!!

RisenCon... if you love Mason so much become a jets fan... Face the fact that your team didn't want him! He'll be crying twice as much with sanchez's interception rate and low, low completion percentage. Mason is old, it's not like he is even close to being a pro bowler, he went to the jets because no one else wanted him... Even Jerry Rice was cut..

You guys are nuts! Wide receiver is just about last on our list of holes to fill. It doesn't matter who we get if our O-line stays the way it is. That's the only problem I see with this off-season. As far as Mason goes, he snubbed us back. I'll be grinning ear to ear when the Jets have to pull back in to the hangar early after week 17.

I feel like Mason would have his best year if he was in Baltimore, his value isn't as valuable to other teams as he is to us..

Now I feel like our best fit would be Housh... Cotchery is torn up, Clayton is coming of a ACL tear, and same with Steve Smith

I understand the concern of experience but we have the talent. I can't wait to see what they can do on the field. We all know what Mason brings and it isn't enough. He couldn't get open and relied on tricking the CB for any separation. Teams used to give up the pass to Mason because he had minimal yards after catch and most were for 8 on 3rd and 10.

Why are so many people over reacting? How many years have you guys been watching this game? The bottom line is what Mase brought to this team wasn't enough. We have several receivers who will fight for starting spots now instead of handing it to Mase.

Rayvnmania, if the O-Line had issues it is to be expected. It is much easier for the defense to play better than the offense at this time (it is well documented). Training camp will see much more passes than runs. Think about it for just a moment, it makes sense. It is all about getting down your timing.

Raven's Fans: It is time to move on. We might get another vet WR but if we don't then we don't. Next man up.

"past his prime" has to be the most (inaccurately) overused buzz phrase in history. Being 37 doesnt automatically make you past your prime, and no one who has said this has yet to point out any solid evidence of that.

and again I'll say, there is no superbowl coming here after a lockout with a stable of rookies at WR going up against the AFC OKA the toughest conference in the league. When you eject anything you could call experience from your team and start all over that IS rebuilding.
