OK, now I'm hearing that the Ravens never made an offer to Mason.

I hate fans that say we are mediocre and are looking bad....those arent real raven fans.....a real ravens fan will think they are gonna win every game no matter what....will stick with his team even if they go 4-12....thats a real fan....

lets sign cotchery he could be a perfect number 2.

I have to be honest, I have no idea whether he's worth pursing. I know nothing about him. And besides, it seems to hardly matter what we want. Will he want to come here?

What in the world are the Steelers doing in interviewing him? They have absolutely no need for him, with a vet, a top 10 speed receiver and two up and coming 2nd year guys.

If we get the running game going like we should with the addition of Leach the passing game will open up and Joe will get his shots down the field. We don't need a bunch slow vets!

Forget Mase he's gone. I wish him well and can't blame him for his decision. Here is what we are all forgetting. If our O=line plays like they did today at M&T, it doesn't matter who is at WR. Flacco was pressured all day and in full contact would have been sacked in 50% of his passes. Pressure was relentless from everywhere. I'm hoping it was our D but that worries me as it was pretty much the same guys as last year pressuring, Johnson, Ngata, Redding and Suggs.

How can you say this wasn't the plan? If they wanted Mason, he'd be here, but they didn't. The Ravens don't rebuild they reload, all this talk is so weak. It seems like everyone on here thinks that the other teams are so much better than the Ravens, but they are not and that Mason put up 1200 yrds and 15 TDs but he didn't... The Ravens will be a playoff team this year hands down, if you don't agree name 8 other AFC teams that are better... The hottest playoff team will win the super bowl, it is not a mystery. GB was not at all the best team last year, the Pats were...

what the heck, who is going to be playing if god for bid Boldin gets hurt, we have nothing but Rookies and 2nd yr guys who are not proven. I dont want to hear oh Mason is 37 and slow, sorry the man can catch a ball and i was a Huge Mason fan. Now what T.J. Housh or Clayton who couldnt get open before and is coming off an injury. Guess we will have to see who gets cut after the preseason games to get someone Or hopefully T. Doss and T. Smith look really good in the preseason.

True, but Wallace wasn't a rookie last year. If we went young NEXT year, that I could understand. But not giving these rookies some cover and easing them in could end up working against us.
[/quote]

EXACTLY. I dont mind puttin the rookies on the field.
I DO mind jettisoning any and all experience and puttin the rookies on the field AFTER a lockout, especially when a super bowl run would involve inevitably having to beat at least one of Brady with Ochocinico; Eagles with Asante, nnamdi, and rodgers-cromartie; Sanchez now with the most storied WR of our franchise; Colts and Steelers who always know how to take us apart, and more.

Its just a really bad time to pull this.

screw Derrick Mason, it's a slap in the face to reject a starting role on your team of 6 years to go join their second biggest rival. Mason won't be walking after week 4... anyway. Now that I got that off my chest, I don't know much about Steve Smith except that he had a nice Madden rating this past year, haha. Other than that, Houshmanzadeh maybe? I'm not all that high on Cotchery, but I guess he'd be okay. I don't really want Clayton back he had his shot here, he wasn't all that great.

Oh no, we haven't forgotten that - it's just not what has been taking the headlines for the past several days. We absolutely have a major need there and we've been doing nothing since signing Yanda to address that.

Yes, Leach was a step in the right direction for getting the run game back, but that isn't the whole picture. But what are we doing there?

It may all come down to us being frozen because we have no cap and we have no cap because we waited (for some completely unknown reason) to work with Ngata.

I think it was time. Thanks to Mason for all that you did but he was a possession receiver, not very fast or a high jumper, which i think suits Flacco's style better. I'd like smith as a dependable guy to take the double teams off Boldin

We're always a playoff team, since when are we content with that?
And who was better out of the Pats and Packers is irrelevant because they were BOTH better than us.

Gotta run. Please let me come back in 2 weeks and see we've done work to move ourselves in the direction of improving this team.

And for others that see this frustration as being a non-fan, I disagree. I love this team, will root for this team come hell or high water, but you have to admit there have been some frustrations of late.

I'm not going to lie, I'm actually mad. You're leaving the Ravens for our second biggest rival? Derrick Mason should be ashamed of himself.

Ill be honest, losing Mason is going to be like the "girl who got away". I have been a loyal fan and followed the Ravens in and out with their personnel they play on a weekly basis and here is my two cents: I was at practice today at M&T, maybe it was because of lockout or whatever, but our offense looked sad in my opinion. Yes Leach is a beast and will help Rice. However you need threats OTHER than Boldin as well to keep the teams honest. Everyone knows Steelers shut down the run..... Week 1 when they do that who will we throw to. This will be a down year its sad to say. I think we are lookin at 9-7. Even if they sign Cotchery or Steve Smith, we wont be the same. We needed Mason and he made a dick move by signing with the Jets. I dont blame him because this is a business and if I was cut then a team that I knew the Ravens would hate me to play for offered me a deal, id go there too. Shows you how good they are vs us. He is their 3rd WR, and we wont even have someone as good as him to be our 2nd. Dont even get me started on losing Heap too. Love Dickson, but Ravens arent the same :(

balfan - i couldn't agree more. it really baffles me. it feels like we all went on vaca and then at the end of the lockout we were scrambling with no real strategy. if we were determined to get younger at WR, why wouldn't we focus on the o-line. i like leach but the o-line sets the pace and the FB and WR's play off of their success. even on d, the carr signing when we have webb, fox, williams, smith??? we give carr four years and 3.5 a year. what happened here?

I liked Mason but I think it was time to move on. Seems to me it was the same old plays every year , time for a change. Have to agree with Alan, there are other recievers better suited for Flacco's style.

good people we all need to relax, now take a deep breathe...does that feel better? mason as much as i loved him he is past his time i dont blame the office for not paying him. you all are not looking at the big picture here flacco is the leader of tomorrow not all qb's that enter the league somehow become bigben and win a superbowl in there second year we are on the cusp so relax. people athletes are not loyal the majority of them are not ray lewis or peyton manning!!! everyone is looking for the money or if they cant get what they are looking for they sign with a team who are about to win a superbowl. we need to go younger people there's no other way than the way we are doing it now. malcolm floyd perfect example the only reason he didnt come to baltimore and i believe thas with all of the free agents out their is familiarity and no money...just think about it, after we won the superbowl we stunk so just relax!!!

Can any one here Really Blame Mason???? The front office dropped him like old garbage, then went out looking for what they "publicly" said was an upgrade. After they dropped the ball, and couldn't get the cap window down fast enough to bring in a big name player, they came back to Mason and said, "OK, we'll take you back". I don't think any "Man" wants to feel like second best, or worse. They pretty much h told Mason, we couldn't find any body so we'll take ya back cause we don't have any one else. I was always a Huge D.M. fan, but now I've Got twice the respect for him. Good Luck Mase, and sorry ahead of time for the Neck Snappin hits you're gonna take when Ray says "Hi" in the Middle.
