[Blogs] Mason Joins Jets

408 posts in this topic

Why'd we let Mason go? I know he's old but he's been one of our most reliable wideouts. I'm just dissapointed because I've always been a huge Mason fan and I really hoped he'finish up as a Raven.

Why do it feel like I just got punched in the stomach? I don't kno, I have 2 views on this. 1. I feel like the Ravens did the right thing by releasing him for cap reasons but they never said they didn't want him back. 2. I feel like he did this to stick it to us. I know that the Jets are better than the Titans so if he had to choose between the two Jets would be better. But, this came after the Ravens offered him a contrat when we couldn't get Floyd so I think he is sticking it to us. I am angry at the fact that we was not active in free agency and really didn't pick up any big names. Yanda was the best but he was already with us so we know what he is capable of. I wanted a big name that was going to strike fear in peoples heart. I just feel sick right now. I guess WE HAVE TO DEPEND ON ROOKIES,bu in big moments like the play-offs can we depend on the? I don't know

Also, Jarret Johnson looked stroner and faster than last year. Our needs are WR and OL. Everywhere else we are solid to very good... I'm willing to roll the dice with Tyrod Taylor and use the money for WR or OL. Cmon OZ, what up?

...Those rookie wide recievers gonna get hurt on opening day...
[/quote]
Given that you've got such a group of cheap shot artists that will likely be targeting them, that is a distinct possibility.

I like Torrey and Doss but are they ready for the AFC NORTH. They may be ready for other NFL conferences but hey have to be really good to start in our division. The lost of Mason got the Steeler Nation licking there fingers. I hate them

I'm not mad at Ozzie, 4.5 million is a little high to pay a 14 yr vet but I will miss Mason unlike Heap that man would play hurt one leg one arm what ever... But I'm still mad at you Mr. Mason... T.J. supporter over here and I would say Clayton but he coming off of being hurt. Work him out and see where he is at.

I have absolutley no faith in our WR core this year, i hope Ray Rice has an amazing season behind flacco and leach cause otherwise we will not have an offensive season, and our defense doesnt seem to promising right now.

dayday - i agree. my concern is we are hanging our hopes on two unproven rooks who were playing against 18 - 22 year olds a few months ago in weaker conferences. we will see relentous pressure all year with 8 in the box. flacco won't be able to get the ball out of his hands. your telling me dick lebau isn't laughin and licking his chops right now. comon OZ... we are running out of options here.

Anyone who wants TJ back must not have noticed how slow and washed up he looked last year, he won't get signed this year by any contender. These are probably the same people who wanted Mason back, he is 37 and he was a crybaby last year. The steelers went young last year and were fine. Stop obsessing over older players and Mason is not a Raven, he is a Titan, Heap was a Raven but he has missed at least 4 games a year for 5 seasons and we drafted two players to replace him.

Honestly, given the spare parts WRs that remain available, I do think Housh is probably the best option. But I'll be surprised if we go after him, because our organization puts guys names into a little black book and have no chance of redemption. I think Housh's name is in that book.

Bye Bye Mason !

So glad he is gone. Flacco needed that security blanket taken away at some point. Come on Oct 2nd ! Can't wait !

Mason will regret this decision.

im concerned we are starting to hear about getting younger and rebuilding. i don't like that at all. reed and lewis have very limited time left and once they are gone, we are average on D and average to below on O. im not crying wolf yet but getting very worried about OZ's moves here.

at this point I still believe in OZ, I also believe if we don't put our talent on the field we will never know how talented they actually are. Lets go with what we have, so we will know what we have. GO RAVENS

True, but Wallace wasn't a rookie last year. If we went young NEXT year, that I could understand. But not giving these rookies some cover and easing them in could end up working against us.

It would be one thing if getting younger and rebuilding were plan A. Obviously, this was not the goal of the front office, but it is where we are now. So we're going to hear about how this is a good thing, when it was not what the organization was trying to accomplish.

common now TO? He didn't wanna come here before he doesn't now and besides how big of an upgrade is TO over mason anyway. I hope we can get Steve Smith but after we missed on Floyd like that it makes it seem like they don't want a receiver too badly... I don't know we're a win now team, I think another receiver would help, but I don't call the shots.

really people.... i thought we were better than this.... i see a LOT of people bashin mase on this??? realy???? how soon we forget i guess... idk alls i know is i coutlessly defended mase as the most under ratted WR in the league. thats not changing now....sure hes older... but still... top 5 possesion WR in the league... best hands out there. and you wanna bash him for joining the jets??? i dont like it either, but if the ravens wanted him back...they woulda made it happen. the guy had 3 choices.... us, titans, and the jets.... titans are going no where, and he wants to win a ring, we didnt want him, so his only other choice to go where hes wanted and a chance to win was the jets....lets be honest, the jets have a shot to win it... will they???? no... but he wants the shot. i dont blame hi for it... neither should RAVENS fans. dont forget wat he did for us wen we didnt have any other WR's. now i'll get a little smirk if he meets ray over the middle.. but i'll wish him luck as well

I actually do like the direction we're taking at receiver. Too many years we have a revolving door of vets at the receiver position and don't give our drafted receivers the opportunity to get quality playing time. The only time that our drafted receivers have ever seen the field was if they were 1st round picks (taylor and clayton).

I don't get it unless the Jets offered more money, which I heard they didn't. So...I guess it's just a slap in the face to the Ravens FO and our fans. Please, Flacco, make him regret this.
