I just ordered my service. Ravens games in HD in my living room, never thought I'd see the day.

Those commercials crack me up lol. I really want this package, but I love Comcast. It's extremely tempting. How much is the service if you don't mind? Are you paying 30?

Well I upgraded a bit on the channel selection and they charge a $6/month lease on the boxes (I'll have two boxes to start with, but just one DVR... their DVR records all on one and then plays in any room) , but with all the rebates and what-not I'll be paying $51 per month for the first 12 months. A little bit more after that. But it'll still be a HUGE upgrade from what I have now, plus I'll finally be able to see my HD TV in HD, lol. I'm paying $150 per right now for cable/internet. Once I drop my cable I'll probably pay just about the same but with HD and Sunday Ticket. It was a no-brainer.

EDIT: I didnt even realize it included Sunday Ticket To Go. I can watch all the games on my phone as well. :o

I am a bit skeptical, though. There's gotta be a catch. I've noticed nothing in the fine print on that page, but this seems too good to be true, especially with how much DirecTV has paid for the rights to NFL Sunday Ticket.

You just have to realize that after a year, the price jumps up a bit (and the pay movie channels are only free for three months) and NFLST is not free next year. Its still a better deal than my cable service and if you agree to get emails from them they waive the $10 per for HD service forever. Plus the idea of having a central DVR that can be recorded on/deleted from in any room, its a deal to me.

This is tempting. I was going to get the Verizon FIOS package (Internet + TV) for the house I'm leasing for college, but I'm only there for a year and the service is for 24 months. Don't know what to do afterward my lease ends...

In that case, since it appears that they're forcing you into a 2-year agreement, it's not personally worth it for me to make the switch. I don't really need Sunday Ticket since I get Ravens games via antenna, but it would've been nice to see every NFL team's games with DVR controls and the whole nine yards. Just not worth it for me to have the Sunday Ticket free one year and then have to pay for it the next season if I want to keep it.

Well I wouldn't say I was forced. I agreed. Overall it's gonna be a better deal for me personally than what I'm paying now, even once it kicks in "full price" in a year. All the extras, including nflst (which will save me a $50 bar tab weekly), was icing on the cake.

Live in the middle of nowhere on 3 acres, so Fios, DirectTV and others were not options for me. Sounds like a good deal, but comcast is my only choice!

We got hosed. I got so mad I cancelled the Ticket. I'm not paying over $300 for something they're giving away for free. I mostly just watched the Redzone channel anyhow and I can get that from FIOS.

how much do you pay for a year of sunday ticket.... that 50 dollar weekly bartab over all the games (16 games) will run you 800 throughout the year... just something to put some thought in to.

is DTV worth getting? I know I want to get the Sunday ticket free for the year, but I'd only get it if it's reliable in general and everything. Trying to upgrade from my current local Atlantic Broadband.

Well, I know Fios doesnt run our here and the DirecTV part I believe is due to the trees surrounding our property are in direct line to the satelite. I dont know. We had them come out and take a look see when we first moved here in 2008 and it was a no go. Would have been spotty reception and I am not having that.

That sucks. Even if the dish is mounted on the roof? Don't blame you though. Spotty reception would drive me insane.

Lucky. Watching games on my phone was so handy last year. I had my phone in my crotch during a meeting when the Ravens went to overtime with the Bills.

I'm a little ticked. I currently pay 63.98 for 6 months (Sunday Ticekt & on the go - $383 total). But I"m a slave to Directv and football so I can't cancel.

I liked Directv way more than Comcast. It is very reliable, I haven't had any issues. I have the HD DVR service and 'Whole Home DVR' (stop and play recordings in any room). Picture is fantastic with a ton of HD channels.

Sunday Ticket is addictive. Once you get it, its hard to cancel Plus the 'To Go' , you can watch the games on our computer or mobile phone.

To be hooked up with everything makes it feel like your paying a Bully to kick you in your Nads for fun though.

Well said. I've just heard that anytime it's windy that the signal will go out and such, and I am not the patient type that can handle that (neither is my pops). Between me and him, one of us will have destroyed the satellite and tossed it into the bay before it can be fixed.

If you live around very tall trees than its something to consider. But I've never had issues because of wind. I have a pseudo tall tree behind my house where the dish is facing and it works fine.

Only time I have lost signal is when one of those vicious 5 min thunderstorms roll through. But power is much more worrisome.

The one thing I dislike about Directv is that you can't split a signal line. A dedicated line must be going from the dish to each receiver. So if you have two receivers you must have two lines. But the directv guy can add without much problem. But if you ever want to add a third line for lets say a DVR (without a tech) its a bit more work.

I have some medium height trees surrounding my house. one neighbor has said that it never goes out, while my other neighbor says a bird can fly between the satellite and the receiver and signal gets lost lol.

Do the new customers have to commit for 2 years, with the 2nd year being at full price?

Also, do you qualify for the offer if you're moving?
