I agree we should try at Asante, but who do you suppose we offer? They essentially upgraded all their weaker positions

The Eagles have NO LBs and are relatively weak at safety. Seems odd because those are the 2 positions where we have significant depth... :ICONATOR_01040da29c18a4eed76047

Although its hard to know what Samuels value is, I'd think it would be a 2nd/3rd, although it could be higher. I could see us trading Carr (who specializes in the slot) or Foxworth and a pick for Asante. That way, we dont have a logjam at corner. We have the same amount of players and one of them just happens to be a boss. Plus, we have guys like Gooden, Ellerbee, McClain, Naka, Zibby, and Pollard that we can trade at their weakest points (although if we can get by without trading these guys I'd prefer it).

And for you guys saying that "We already have one gambler on defense so no thanks", I'd like to say this.

1) Asante is easily a top 5, arguably a top 3 corner.

2) He is an improvement over anyone else we have. Although it may not be a need, it certainly is a luxury that would greatly help this team.

3) When throwing at Asante, the QB's passer rating last year was the lowest against all corners (it was around 30). He racked up 7 picks while only being targeted 36 times. which means he intercepted nearly 1/5 of the balls to him. The dude can ball, strictly stat wise he was better than Nnamdi last year.

4)He will come for cheaper than his value indicates

5)Unlike a lot of speculation, we will have the cap space regardless of whether we ask him to restructure his contract or not.

6) Having two of the greatest ballhawks in the league will make us a force to be reckoned with, and there is no doubt he could teach Smith, Webb, Cary Williams, and Brown a thing or two even if he plays corner in a different way.

Agreed but they won't want corners as they have a logjam as well. Having him and Ed will be beautiful in the secondary

If they traded Asante, how would they have a logjam? There corners were terrible last season.

The team has enough capable bodies at DE.

Worst off-season? What a joke.

It is a joke. A pre-season game hasn't even been played yet, and you want to call this one of Ozzie's "worst off-seasons".

CB is not the problem and I seriously doubt we focus there..we have quality depth at that position

Ravens need OL depth, backup QB, and another veteran WR

at this point anything else would be a want, I want a shutdown corner, I want an elite pass rusher...need to fill our needs first, we need to sign Ngata to a long term deal

We really dont need a backup QB, Tyrod is looking good. As for the other two, they are holes but this team will still be a plus 10 win team without those pieces.

well we lost the two players with the MOST RECEPTIONS AND YARDS IN RAVENS HISTORY. thats a pretty big hit. our offense is going to COMPLETELY drop off unless we get people in hear. we should have NEVER cut mason. its ridiculous.

The key word there is 'history'. Speaking specifically about their production from last season, neither Heap nor Mase are irreplaceable. Granted, I would have liked to have seen Derrick return. But Joe developing a rapport with the young WRs this year isn't a bad thing.

So, the team shouldn't have cut Mase despite his inflated contract? Okay...

im all for a youth movement but you dont cut the two main guys out of the offense at the same time.. one at a time is better.. its just a huge loss that will really hit late in the season when rookies are worn down and not used to playing in december and january..

In my opinion Tyrod wouldnt be a lot worse than a vet that no one deems starting material in the league, hence no one takes a chance on him.

The only people I'd think would be legit insurance are Bulger and VY, both of which are unattainable now. Maybe Kerry Collins, but he also retired.

Plus, thats how it is with a lot of teams. If Peyton goes down, the Colts season is over. Same thin with Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers, Roethlisberger, etc. If we dont land the best backup ever we may not be able to win a Super Bowl with Tyrod, but neither would the majority of elite teams.

The passing offense wasn't going to get any better with Mase and Heap as featured targets.

We've seen rookies contribute in various ways late in the season every year. Assuming they'll be worn out is just pessimism.

We will be fine because we have our main core Flacco, Boldin, Rice, Lewis, Reed, Ngata and Suggs. We can patch up the other needs with solid coaching and younger players stepping up. We needed to get younger and explosive. We lost some old veterans but we still have the main pieces here and if the younger players step up we can build from there. The only thing that bothers me is the offensive line depth this year. If we can get some depth we should have anything to worry about.

I don't personally believe that we will look to acquire another CB but if one were to get injured what about a guy like Kelvin Hayden. He just recently got cut by the Colts in order to free up cap space.

He is ridiculously injury prone and he will be signed before anyone gets injured, assuming Foxworth doesnt tear his ACL tomorrow.

T. Owens will be available in 8 weeks and the Ravens can pay Moss to come out of retirement.
While we're at it, if Harrison isn't in jail or too busy pistol whoopin' someone, we can form the 2007 Dream Team of wide recievers!

Responding to the proposition above that said trade Foxworth and a pick/player for Asante
