So we try to sign O'Hara. Woopdidoo.. Ozzie has epicly failed this offseason. we still have the same problems we had BEFORE the lockout. no pass rush, no proven deep threat WR, no proven Number one CB..

please give me reasons to feel better.

The only real problem I see with the team is OL depth

Yes, another veteran WR is probably in the works, either thru trade or a free agent like Mason, we have quite good depth at WR, with Torrey, Doss, Reed, etc

We have plenty of solid CBs and the quality of depth beats most other teams

I think people overreact and are too negative, Ozzie failed? No this new CBA is tough because the cap went down and last year there wasnt one, so we have to make cuts, lose some free agents, etc

Ngata needs to get signed long term and that will free up more cap..all is not lost

Ozzie is banking on J. Smith being our shutdown corner and T. Smith being our deep threat. If you ask me Ozzie has slipped as a drafter which began and took place with the 2010 draft.

Welcome back Mason if you are still not pissed at Ozzie and Harbs! Darn it!
Harbs said he has been talking to Mason for the past few days, there is a reason Mason hasnt signed with New York or the Titans...he wants to come back to Bmore

A) to Ozzie's credit....there weren't exactly a ton of elite pass rushers anyway. Tamba Hali was loyal and resigned, and Jason Babin wasn't even that good, and is old.

B) If we couldn't afford Floyd how could we ever afford to bring in Nnamdi? Perhaps J.Joseph you say? He's good but not thattttt good.

C) Ozzie tried with Floyd, and even apparently Moss. He hasn't been sitting at home with his thumb in his bum doing nothing.

D) get excited that some of our young/newly drafted players are gonna step up in a huge way this season! Setting the woodwork down for a new era of ravens football for Ray Lewis and Ed to leave behind.

E) Shaun O'hara has been a pro bowl center for the last three seasons what do you mean "wooodidoo"?

We didn't put all our eggs in one basket like the eagles. They MAY go all the way but they may not. and after this year, they'll have to worry about the cap next year. We're thinking long term

weelllll the eagles havnt had any porblems signing players and getting better.. i just feel like we have released more talent than we have gained. and i would hardly call chris carr that solid. And we cant say we have GOOD depth at WR.. 2 out of the 3 people you named are rookies and havnt taken a single snap yet. they probably wont be, but they could be absolutely horrendous.. i just think we need a couple proven guys.. like a deep threat and a proven shut down corner.. i just dont think it is a good idea to "bank" on things

Yanda was asked to play a different position than his normal position and he was ranked amongst the best RTs in the NFL. Didn't even give up a sack to Woodley in 3 games last year. Re-signing him was about the only bright spot on an otherwise completely awful off-season. Leach is going to be a great addition, but whatever positives we get from him in the run game will be negated if we lose any interior linemen to injury unless they find a solid backup that can play all 3 positions (O'Hara is not that guy). Ozzie always wants to pay market price or more for for defense and below market price for offense. We're just lucky Yanda wanted to stay with us so badly, because I guarantee you Dan Snyder was ready to pay him more than our $6.5m/year!

Please stop crying about nothing....want something to be happy about? We signed the best blocking FB in the league in Vonta Leach. We have Chris Carr, Lardarius Webb, Dominique Foxworth and Jimmy Smith at cb only person we lost was Josh Wilson and we replaced him with Jimmy. Free agency is far from over and the season doesn't start for over a month, I guarantee we will either pick up a free agent or make a trade to fill whatever needs the brass sees as being most important. I hate listening to these fairweather fans who immediately assume were going to fail because we didn't sign 1 player they wanted. Did we not make it to the playoffs last year with this team? Stop worrying and if your going to freak out over every free agent we don't sign you should stop reading into this stuff and wait until the season starts. Sorry for bashing you but it just gets annoying hearing the same stuff year after year while our front office continues to do a great job and put us into a position to win games.

-We also lost Fabian Washington but in my opinion that's not much of a loss at all.

All I see is a whole bunch of panic in these post. People calm down! Exactly how many games have we played? How many players have yet to be cut from 90 man rosters? How many trades are still out there as time moves closer to the final cut down? All you Ozzie haters need to check yourselves,oh ye of little faith! Please feel free to rip me up with your "sky is falling" mentality some of us have seen this before!

Where did you hear that we were trying to sign O'Hara? Because if we did I would be thrilled with that as a veteran to improve our O-line depth.

Lets campaign for Steve Smith, the Giants WR, he's pretty nice and would probably be an upgrade over Mason, he's not a huge WR but he's skilled

Campaign is the wrong word...lets hope

Failed? Because we didn't sign a number two WR who wasn't going to crack over 800 yards for us anyway. I wanted Floyd but it's not the end of the world.

We improved our run game with the additions of Leach and Yanda. Now we just need to get some O-line depth, resign Mason(even though I don't want to), and search for some pass rush somehow.

The Ravens have never been a go get them in free agency team they've always relied on the draft and that ideas worked and I think it will continue to work this year.

I am NOT a fairweather fan. I just think we lost more than gained. the only somewhat good corner we have is lardarius webb.. and hopefully jimmy smith. josh wilson was MILES better than foxworth and carr..

And for those eager to point out our "young WRs", I should remind you that rookie WRs pretty much never put up more than 500 yards per season. Last year Dez Bryant, the receiver drafted highest in 2009, was the ONLY rookie WR to do it and even he got over 500 just barely. Heap, Mason and Housh made up 1800 of Joe's 3600 yards last year. If we get even 700 yards combined out of Doss and T. Smith next year, it will be a miracle. The only chance we have right now to make up any lost production from last year is for Dickson to step up, but how much can a TE do? Even Antonio Gates caught for only 700 last year.

We're thinking long term
I absolutely agree that the FO is thinking long term right now. I am OK with that because I want to see the Ravens being competitive next year and the year after and 5 years from now. But it's disappointing at the same time because you can't help but feel like we could have been super bowl favorites *this year*, and in the name of future seasons we have maybe allowed our status to decline this season.

Happy Mason is back.

Imo, Ozzie took a risk on trying to acquire Asomaugh when he released the cap early, we took the risk and we failed. Then we tried looking at Osi Umenyiora, which everyone thought we'd be getting. Of course that didnt pan out with giants wanting ridiculous demand. Then we looked at Kreutz..which Saints got this morning. It just didnt pan out like we wanted it to be, but we still did much better than our divison teams.
