Madden 2009

This is the best Madden so far for the next gen. video game system.(PS3) With the next Gen. system you are supposed to have more feature you would think than on the older game console but it seem that with Madden this was not the case. The smallest detail like the net going up and down during a extra point was missing, play maker audibles were missing and formation audibles missing to name a few things. But now most of them are back. Now Madden even has revamped the online features making it easier for you to find your friend and/or foes online. Tell me what you think of the new Madden 2009 for what ever console you use. May it be the Xbox 360, Wii or my favorite the PS3.

I was suprised to see no one had posted in this forum yet... I play on 360, and I love this version of madden. It seems very hard to run compared to the last few years. The graphics are amazing and it seems like the laggy issues online are just about gone. I love using flacco with that cannon arm , but i have to admit, i did draft a team and have Fitzgerald and Plax as my WR's lol

Okay. IQ's...spit 'em out. I'm up to a 724....and it couldn't have heppened until I learned how to improve my Pass D.

I am, only pass defense though because my run defense is all madden. But my IQ doesn't seen to change?

Do you click the stick to "commit" to run? If so, stop. Even in goal line.

I use weak side blitz and press the WR's a lot. What ever it takes to get a man in the back field ASAP. I've zone blitzed both corners before with great success. Also, don't be afraid to run the clock down on offense so they just abandon the run in the second half.

Right now, I'm all madden in all four, but Running O isn't great and I think I take more sacks than I should.

madden 09 upset me with the ratings this year now this may be a wall o text:
First you know i got to start with ray lewis lofa tatupa is better than ray on this game How when he never even had a 200 takle season when ray has three 200 takle seasons. bart scott has three back to back 100+ takle seasons and his ratings goes down. Haloti Ngata has 94 takles last year and they got richard seymore better with way less takles last year thats bull.

Mark clayton and D-Williams has about the same speed when mark and rascoe parrish had the same 40 time at the combine. Yamon is faster than hester but is a 97 speed and fabian washington when he start out on madden 07 b4 the updates he was rated a 89 overall he maintained the same number of takles for three years was starter over whateever 21 name is for a year loss his job to rout beacuse of takling but still produce better numbers than rout and more intos then him last year fabian was and 84 then dropped to an 80 but when he hits the ravens now he is a 77 thats bull.

Lorenzo Neal was a 98 ovr last year now when he hits the ravens now he is an 88 thats bull and how about willie anderson the best bengals limeman was a 96 last year now when he hit the ravens hes a 86.
They got bob sanders hit power a 99 so you mean to tell me that he can hit harder than ray and bart bull. they got merriman one of the strongest linebackers on the game but he doesnt go against linemen as often as suggs thats bull.

They have rookie quaterbacks that are better than troy smith how? when people on espn said that very few Qbs in the league can make throws that troy did in the preseason, so why dont he have the accuracy weapon. Kelly gregg had more takles than and DT last year and he an 89 when pat williams is a 98 and klye williams is a 97. Thats should be ngata and gregg ratings. And Im tired of poeple ratings going down because of injuries. Our O-Line didnt allow one sack week 1 we better get a rating boost 4 that one

I never run commit or pass commit. All they do is slant passes :/

I struggle with defense, too. Especially pass defense, because the higher difficulty settings require me to actually PLAY pass D by controlling the defender once the ball is in the vicinity of the intended receiver. Although user picks are easier to get, IMO, than in previous games, I still struggle, and I whiff even on just plain batting the ball down.

The highest IQ I've gotten was a 792, but it QUICKLY went down the next game all the way to a 722 because I let the Raiders come back on me after I was leading 27-7 at one point...

Currently, I think I'm at a 732, last I remember. (What's up with all the IQ's ending in 2's for me?)

I'm not really all that great, though. My passing game is alright, my running game is uneven. I have the tendency to divert from my gameplan too early, even when I tell myself not to at all costs...

I think im at 694 IQ but i usually play all pro or all madden... not myskill, thats kinda weird for me.

If they start with the quick slants, switch to cover 2 for a few plays. Key in on who ever is catching the most passes. THis usually works for me to halt any momentum they may be getting. The key is to defend the pass first (only because it's so easy to get the big play if you don't in this game) and be patient and run the play clock down to at least 20 seconds while on offense. Make sense?

Yeah, I bounce back and forthe from 740 to 670. But I like the challenge.

Lost a heart breaker to the ....RAVENS last night. I was playing with the Vikes. Had the lead (13-7) late in the fourth. Ravens have no time outs, and I stopped them on 4th and goal (inside my own 1 yd line) with 6 seconds left.......Whataya do?

-Can't kneel down.
-Hand off? May get tackled in the backfield.
-FB hand off? Been bitten too many times by the FB fumbling.
-Play action? No way.
-Quick Pass? too risky.
-No, the safe method is to do a quick goal line QB sneak, right? Wrong.

He FUMBLED it back to the Ravens. 3 seconds, one play, TD....., (Shoulda let them have the safety). But wait! There's more. There's still one second left on the clock. I let the kick off go through the end zone. Ball at the 20, I send everyone deep (except the RB who will protect me).., 7 step drop.......move up into the pocket and HEEEEEEAAAAAVE it! Incomplete...BUT, There's flag on the play. "Pass Interference: Defense." Yaaaay. Clock reads "0" and I'm on the Raven 40 (too far for a game winning FG). 4 wide outs run 4 different routes, all to the end zone. I heave it to the back, left corner of the end zone AND....it bounces of that $%^&*%#'s finger tips. GAME OVER. Ravens win 14-13.

Yea the Pass Defense is just insane. It so hard to even get a chance to pass deflect. Pick up a few user interceptions from time to time.

I'm getting better. I just use insane blitz packages and press coverage like the thewarden86 says. Read the offensive line pass protection and bombard it with blitzes.

I am between 685 - 720. Pass defense is my weakness.

I find the passing game a lot easier than in previous Madden games. This time around I can run any play and get a completion. In previous I didn't use the WR as much on All-madden because the pass defense is insane on all-madden. I do take more sacks then usual.

You have to admit the Madden game has come a long way. I've been playing ever since the Sega days.

I'm starting to hate this game. Announcers are annoying but thats not the problem.
I've Franchised my Defense to a 96 overall and we play the pass like its 20 sec left and they need a long td.
Carson Palmer hits constant hitch routes to his X and Y recievers even on zone d and man cov. most the time i see it and jump the route but he throws the other hitch where the guy breaks the corners tackle and runs for a 50 yard td.
My Iq reached 804 until in the AFC champ game i went for it on 4th and inches and didn't make it.
now its like 756.
All the runningbacks are over rated especially ahman green (sorry if i butchered his name)
and how come its so hard to pass for me? i have the bar filled on rushing and rushing d but the other two i play to get better at and still get worse.

I love this game, but you ain't kiddin' about Collinsworthless. He drives me nuts!!!

Is it me, or can you not build a new stadium in Franchise anymore unless you relocate????

really!? Fullback hand off works great for me almost everytime I pull of at LEAST 2-3 yards. That's happened to me too though, I lead the game at the half and get shut down in the 2nd half

The worst is the announcers, for real. The other day i was playing as the raiders against the pats online. I go up 7-0 in first quarter, second quarter he ties it up 7-7. Then i get a fumble recovery for a Td and collinsworth says , wow what a change of momentum, you were down two td's then one, now their on top! I was like what the heck i was never down at all

Anyone know the answer to this one:

If you have your four basic slider set to custom, does it have any impact on the other players in Superstar. For instance, if you're a safety, then I would imagine that your sliders may have an impact on the rest of the defense, but I'm not sure. Also, the offense is usually simulated, but I'm amazed at how crappy they do on a constant basis.

I figure that you now select your level by using the sliders in only four catagories, so it makes some sense to assume that each catagory is effected individually. Is this making sense?

Oh yeah, and I love how my offense gets the ball back with the lead and under 2:00 in the 4th qtr, fail to get a single first down, but there's still PLENTY of time on the clock and their offense still has all 3 time outs. Bit of a glitch there EA??

I had the same problem last year with Superstar. I was Adrian Peterson and would run all over the other teams, but the defense always let it be a close game.

I guess it's just a glitch that we have no control over then? As the starting SS of the Chargers, I did manage to hold the Colts to only 10 points in the AFCCG.

I just recently got the patch. Man did I need it badly. Anyway, I don't know if this is because of the patch or what because it was sorta a problem before it as well. When I get in a groove I can light up the scoreboard. I drafted a solid WR in the first round. He's 80 overall as a rookie with 85 hands. He had SEVEN drops in a single game. Only one or two were caused by a legitimate hit by a defender. The rest were wide open drops. Seven in one game to only 4 cathces for 48 yards. But theres more...my next top 3 receivers all dropped 2 as well. I still won easily because my defense dominates and I still had some big plays on offense but how Joe Flacco ended up with 55% completion percentage I don't know. I was so mad. I'm getting angry just thinking about it. Do anyone else think drops are way to common in this game...on both sides? Could it be some sort of attempt to keep games close? I know there was an option in previous editions cause I was handing it to Cleveland from the beginning.
