T.J. Houshmandzadeh

Hey has anyone heard anything about Housh lately? I've been hearing all about Floyd and other WR's, but I haven't heard any news about Housh this offseason or any teams being interested in him. I doubt it could be because of the dropped pass. He was fairly solid last year. I'm good whether we sign him or not. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything.

I haven't heard much about any other teams interested in him. I'm almost certain we don't re-sign him either because we don't need him. We have a very similar type of player in Doss, who by all accounts has been very good in training camp.

We don't need him. The problem with Mason, Boldin and Housh is that they are soooo similiar and a possession receivers. Floyd will probably end up here and it will be an interesting battle for the 3rd and 4th spots as well as the 5th and 6th.

Really dont want to hear anything about him, I dont think there is any interest in bringing a guy with a loud mouth and he's slow and had too many drops.

he's finished

If we somehow manage to whiff on both Floyd and Mase, I think bringing back Housh for cheap would be a wise move. I know he's taken a lot of criticism for his drop in the playoffs, but he did make a lot of big plays for us last year. He can still get open and he will fight for that extra yard.

Honestly, that was probably my favorite play of the entire season. The salute just made it better with stunned look on their faces. I love it.

Well since we lost out on Floyd, Housh is back in play. Obviously I'd prefer Mason, but if he returns to the Titans or goes to the New York Ravens, signing Housh would be acceptable. I don't like Housh, but we can't go into the season with only one receiving target that has real experience. He already knows the system, and he's probably the best guy left on the board.

TJ wasn't bad for us, if Flacco threw the ball to him more he would've been even more productive. He's got size still, i don't see what would be wrong with bringing him back

He said his next team would shock everyone but I'm guessing he never got an offer.

My problem with having too many young players - though I think Hardy may play more like a vet with all the learning he's done, including from Owens - is third down in the regular season and especially third down in the playoffs. The vets have seen more kinds of defenses, they've got more tricks to get opening.

That said, I'd put Mark Clayton ahead of Housh if it's certain he's healthy. I would also rather get David Ball if he's healthy, Reggie Gray or Greg Orton from the arena league. All the huge FA targets are just about gone, and Floyd was the last explosive target.

Next would be Chris Chambers, but he was benched for the Wild Card game. He may have baggage and he's old but he brings something different than what they already have.

After that, Mason would be the best option. After that, the Ravens could look at Housh.
Then, they have to look at who Washington, St. Louis and New England cut.

I know a lot of people want to role with what they've got but experience of any kind would be nice, especially when it appears your #2 is going to be a rookie.

As for T.O., I think he'd be very humbled coming to the Ravens (vet minimum?) and guys like Terrell Suggs, Ray Rice, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed would get him waived if he acted up too badly.

If I had my choice I would take Torrey Smith over Housh, Mason, or TO.

A player who has yet to notch his first NFL catch over 3 veteran possession receivers! O_o Heck I hear he's not even the best rookie receiver we have in camp so far. Everything I read, Doss is outperforming him at this point in camp.

I really don't want him back, but if we have to chose between him or Mason, I'd much rather prefer to go for Housh.

Mason all day, he plays through injuries, he's still a reliable pass catcher and we have speed on the roster so its not like Mason and Boldin will hold us back because both are more possession receivers.

I want Housh back. I honestly think he is the best available option if we seriously want a veteran WR.
[/quote]
I have to agree with this. Now, that's only if we're going to go after another WR. I am not saying its a make or break sort of move, but he does know the system.

For those that hated Mason, then wanted him back and now hate him again, here is your next WR to hug for a week.

Housh knows the system and is certainly better than Cotchery. In just the FA market, he's probably the best option available, so I agree.

Agreed. I think we could get by fine with what we have, but if we are going to bring someone in Housh should be at the top of the list.

I agree but I wouldn't bring him in unless during the preseason it becomes apparent that our young guys can't get it done.

I'm inclined to agree. A couple of days ago I was totally against this notion.

He doesn't seem to have any takers, could bring him back on the cheapo. And just because we have him, doesn't mean we have to force feed him into every play. I just want the feel of some sort of security blanket in case we can't get a rookie to become productive.
