Art could be a beast, I hope he lives up to his expectations.

Not this year, but I bet we start seeing him in some situational stuff next year.

I hope. He looks like a physical freak. Hes a good run blocker. He needs to work on his footwork though. Work him into a RT rotation next year. or put him at FB with ngata. whats funny is that he was a 7th round pick and were already talking about him starting. Go Ozzies draft skills!!!

I think you're confusing him with someone else.

Art Jones is a DE not an olineman.

Jones is starting at left end throughout practice, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him keeping it during the season. After all, they rotate their left ends often during games.

I like Jones, and I definitely think he can hold onto his starting job. Redding isn't getting younger or better, and while I've good things about Kruger in camp, Jones is bigger, stronger, and has longer arms.

From what I just read on the Baltimore Sun it sounds like Harbaugh really likes Art Jones, he said he's just making more plays, he's a technician, he's grown up and matured...sounds like another good pick.

I like the kids pedigree honestly, his brother is a freak of nature and he might be as well

Do you mean left end in a three down line, or in a base four man d line?

I've like Jones ever since we drafted him. I think if the competition is close between him and Redding they should go with the young guy.

Since most fans agree the Ravens need more pass rush, I think Jones might actually be the answer. The reason being that since our 3-4 looks use Suggs as the pass rusher while JJ often drops in coverage, we can't really add another pass rush OLB to replace JJ without giving up some coverage. With that said, the additional pass rush opposite Suggs will have to come from the 5-technique (i.e. Redding, Jones, Pryce). Jones, or someone like Muhammad Wilkerson, who we passed on in the draft, will have to give additional rush from the edge.

Idk, he may be a better WR with Flacco or better yet Defensive Coordinator under Cam Cameron!

I think Jones will start, coach seemed pretty happy about how far he's come, Redding wasnt setting the world on fire himself last year, so really things can only get better if Jones is playing well

It didn't clarify what formation, however I would imagine he's seeing time in both situations. Personally, I like Art and I'd like to see him get his shot. Redding's only getting older and Kruger is still floating in transition. Granted, Redding made some plays for us last year and word is that Kruger is looking good in practice, however Jones is younger and he's a natural defensive linemen. If it weren't for his injury towards the end of his college career, there's no way this guy would have been there for us in the fifth. I'd love to say in a few years that we had the steal of the draft that year with Art.

Preseason games will be so much more fun to watch this year because we have so many position battles. Think about it. Last year we had a team loaded with veterans who already had their Positions set in stone. Now we have Jones, the Smith duo, Doss, Hardy,D. Reed, Pollard, Zibby, Ruki, and Reid all fighting for roles on the team. Should be very interesting.

I was thinking that Redding was washed up last year. His best play was picking up the fumble in the Steelers' game.

I'd love if Jones could start. If he could, and Kruger proves himself a valuable backup (or the other way around, it doesnt matter to me) We can cut Redding and have more cap to play with. Tully Banta-Cain is the pass rusher I have my eye on, since he shouldnt be very expensive and Matt Roth may not be attainable.

Plus, if its enough, we might be able to sign Kreutz and get this center position on lock. The possibilities are endless.

Yes, he's been practicing with the first team defense along with Cody and Ngata @ the D-Line. Our run defense should be really sick if everything works out. Art is a really good pass rusher as well, and so is Ngata of course. Cody always gets a big push up the middle and he could open up some holes for Ray to get some sacks as well.

I'm not sure who is responsible for all those moves we made on defense (letting go of Gregg, starting Cody, benching Redding, starting Art) but I really like this. I guess it's somewhat cap related (in Gregg's case) and maybe Chuck felt like this defense was getting too old and hopefully he keeps it up. Our defense really didn't have any upside the past couple of seasons it seems, we played solid but we lacked young talents such as Cody and Jones, maybe Smith as well. Give this defense a new face. I'm tired of seeing Gregg, Redding, Washington and all those guys line up out there. I want a young, aggressive defense with lots of upside, combined with a healthy dose of Ray & Ed leading that bunch.
