The new power rankings were released today.

power rankings on espn

We moved up from 24 to 22.

Where do you guys think we'll be after this game.

My opinion is that we'll have a W and maybe up to 18 at best, probably round 19 or 20.

I don't really see the relevance of a power ranking system.

The real power ranking system is called the Standings. It's the only list I care about us being high on.

At least we are moving in the right directon. 22nd isn't too bad for our team at the moment. Considering where we finished last year to our current position. There are a lot teams in front of us who are pretenders anyways.

Houston is sitting at 24. So I guess that on paper we should be favor to win this thing on Sunday.

Steelers at #2 is a little disconcerning.

Power rankings just go hand and hand with the betting odds of winning the superbowl.

With a regular win, possibly 18th. If it's a dominating win, then 15 or 16, most people still won't be sold on the program at large.

A loss and you're probably staying at 22.

If you look at the power rankings throughout a season, you'll find we're better suited to make them than the "experts" are.

Defense always seems to be wonderfully unappreciated when compiling rankings. Also this weeks probably has alot of oops my bad, let me nudge this team I totally overestimated.
See Redskins, Browns

i think that this season this whole ordeal will be some what of a "power shuffle" meaning that Seeing how now that Brady is on IR and seeing how (just from this past week 1 performances) that there is definately a power shuffle of all sorts, some in different ways. Before with the Patriots having Brady and Moss and Welker and all those Playmakers, everyone kinda got a hint as to whom they "thought" was going to be in the Superbowl over the last 4-5 years or so. But now, with Brady Gone for the year/season, it puts the AFC in a Competitive Team War once again, meaning that the AFC is up for Grabs, sure the Colts are still there with Manning and whatever, but the Colts arent as "good" (so to speak) as the Patriots.

In my Oppinion, its now up to all the AFC Teams to step it up, make the move, make the Change(s) and really go out there every week on sunday/gameday, and Play their game their way, make opponents play to them, make the games and the season, come to them. This upcoming NFL season is in Many regards, going to be a thrill ride, some weeks may have teams going out there and putting on/displaying a spectacular show for everyone to see on the highlight reels and what not, then the week, they might come out and just play like blah and seem out of sync.

This season will, from here on out, be a battle in the AFC, and meaning as such, noone is guarenteed anything.

I don't pay these "Power Rankings" any mind... Although, I am curious where the Pats are now that Brady is done for the year lol.

Someone at ESPN needs their head checked. We're ranked 3 spots lower than the Seahawks after they got their a** handed to them by the Bills??? Are you kidding me? If that is not disrespect I don't know what is, and almost all of their receivers are injured, they just lost another for the season to injury.

I hope the Ravens read this and bring the pain on the Texans. Once again our teams gets no respect but that is fine because we will take our respect!

Its week one! We are right where we should be. We beat up a team that has lost it's way. Lets see where we rank when we play a really "good" NFL team. And don't worry, we have plenty of games against playoff bound teams.

People keep saying it was an easy win for us. But didn't the Bengals rank in the top 10 in passing last year. I'm sorry, but if we can stop a pro bowl quarterback from going over a 100 yards passing, and limit two great pro bowl receivers to a combined total of 4 catches, then I think we just straight up rocked their ***! :D

I think the reason why people consider the win an "easy" win is because Cincy seemed as if they pllayed with zero passion. It's like they didn't care. I've never seen Cincy come out like that in years.

It looked like a familiar team in which the coach "lost" the locker room. A place where the inmates were running the asylum.

Get ready for a dissapointing season Cincy fans. And you can thank your ownership for that one! Bringing back Chris Henry is a knockout punch to Marvin Lewis. When the players don't respect the guy who is supposed to be running the show, it will show on the field. I think we saw that!

after we win this weekend, no matter the score, we will slide up two slots to number 20. the analyst will say it was an easy game. The following week we will beat the Browns, but we will yet again not move up more than a couple slots as they claim that last year was a fluke by the Browns, even though they were all claiming that they were the favorites to win the division this year. Then we will go into Pittsburg on Prime Time and even after beating them on their own turf, they will fall a dozen slots, but we won't go up very much, as it will be chalked up to another fluke game. As much as they claimed all off season and during the preseason that we would be lucky this year to get back to 6-10, that to go back on it now would be like suicide, but if they slowly ease into it, they hope that you will all have forgotten their earlier statements about how our defense was "too old," we had the "worst offensive line in the league" or we had an "unstable quarterback situation" which directly translates to last place in the league.
