When I got up first thing I heard was SF were shopping Taylor Mays around, I was thinking bring him into camp, could be that SS/LB hybrid we could use... see if he's any good. Second thing I heard was we signed Pollard.

So that's that sorted.

"If he sounds like a Raven, talks like a Raven and plays like a Raven he must be a Raven". This was the exchange between Ozzie and Harbs prior to signing Pollard!

What makes you think Pollard isn't a pick up out of need? The verdict is out on Zibi and Hakura playing SS full time.

just a hunch, that's all...

After watching the Bernard Pollard interview, I'd say he's pretty "excited" to be here! I know I'm excited that he's here... what a great guy!

Completely agree. There's quite a few people and pundits that are hard on Pollard, and they have every right to be. However, he's not going to be stuck with a group of struggling defensive backs in Baltimore like he was in Houston, so he doesn't have to be a stud in coverage. He brings to the table what the team needs in it's strong safety: a tough, hard nosed, hard hitting, good tackling safety. He won't be the over the top help to the cornerback in front of him, but Foxworth and Carr won't exactly need perfect help over the top. He'll definitely be an asset in rush defense and maybe even on a few safety blitzes.

I won't say Bernard is as good as Landry, but I will say that I don't think the drop off between the two would be as steep as one might be led to believe initially. The biggest thing is the relationship that Ed and Dawan had built between them (not very many people would have been as aware as Landry was to some of those laterals from Ed), Pollard won't have that. At very least, if Pollard earns the starting spot (I'm not saying he exactly will, but I think he could), he could be swapped out for Nakamura or Zibby on obvious passing downs.

Anyways, the front office couldn't possibly have found a better available safety that fit the Ravens mentality and play style, which I think is very important in helping a new guy mesh with his new team.

Exactly... and I'm looking forward to Pollard coming off the edge on a safety blitz a la Ed Reed back in the day. Big Ben better watch out!!

I'd love to see Pollard hit stick Ben like he did Brady. Of course, nothing will ever top Ngata destroying Ben's face. I've never seen a nose shaped like an S before.

I absolutely love his attitude. He carries himself with confidence, but doesn't want anything handed to him. I was critical of the move initially, and I'm still hoping we don't see much of him in coverage, given that he's a liability in this department. But at the very least, he gives us another physical and willing hitter on running downs, and solid depth is always appreciated.

Sure does seem like he's got a real Raven attitude. Playing with a motivator like Ray, well that's just gravy. Pollard could be a real nice fit for the "D" unit. A little chip on the shoulder never hurts either.

That one broken nose shot on Deadliest Catch gives it a run for it's money.

I think he'll really come in handy when we play some power running teams. The Browns immediately come to mind.

After the way Hillis owned us last year, exactly.

To be fair, we held him to 35 yards on 12 carries in our next contest.

You Texan fans are so nice I'm starting to feel guilty for taking your free agents lol

Thanks for Pollard and Leach though. I think they'll both fit right in here. I'm looking forward to seeing them show off their hard hits.

for everyone talking about his awesome hit on brady and hoping it happens to roethlisberger, i personally dont hope for that. the hit on brady was nothing special. he dove at brady's knee. just a cheap shot. it's not like he got a bart scott hit on him. i would never want to beat the steelers because someone dove at roethlisberger's leg. now if they cleanly hit big ben so hard he has to sit out that's fine. when we beat the steelers i want there to be no excuses. i want it to be clean. just saying
