He's horrible in coverage. I hope Zibby still starts.

Seems like more and more people act like they know our team better than the people who run it, who get to see the players every day in practice. I'd say they have a better idea than us, we havent seen our guys play since last year or was it early Jan?

His coverage skills are what are keeping this guy from being an elite strong saftey. I liked landry against the run, but pollard has a slight edge in this area. If pollards coverage skills can match landrys(which aren't really that far off) this would be a big upgrade. Pollard is still young too, so Ed might be able to help him develope alittle in that area.

I think this is a good signing. He'll definitely give Pagano another solid option for blitz packages and help put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. We'll probably see him get victimized in coverage a few times, but as long as he and Ed Reed can get on the same page quickly we should be alright.

One thing I will say is he better learn how to play ball under control we don't need his dumb penalties though, but I like his physical play though. Look out Ward you might get your own medicine buddy, he will probably be so drunk he wont feel it though.

I really think we need a RT. I think we can survive without another WR or DB but we really need to add a veteran C/G and someone to start over Jah Reid to start the season.

Great add for us. Now with Pollard at SS I feel better about our secondary as a whole, and our pass rush - dude can bring it on a safety blitz!

"The Ravens are apparently looking for depth at safety with Tom Zbikowski on the non-football illlness list with a skin condition. Extremely poor in coverage, Pollard did manage to lead the Texans with 112 tackles last season."

Good. He's good depth I suppose.

Everyone in the Texans secondary was terrible in coverage last season. We'll see if it was an anomaly or the norm.

im sorry, i dont see this guy coming in and taking ZIBI's spot. this is just like another ken hamlin. this is just some depth. i put some stats up in another thread. they were from last year while zibikowski filled in for reed and what our secondary numbers were. after 6 weeks our secondary averaged 188 yards per game. he may not be an interception machine like reed, but that's only because he doesn't break to the ball like reed does. he plays his spot and takes care of his responsibility and doesn't take too many chances in converage. i see nothing wrong with that.

^ Ken Hamlin is garbage at this point in his career, Pollard is definitely better than Hamlin.. I do agree Zbi should get the starting job for now though, until this dude learns to cover better.

I have nothing against Zibby, but those statistics look less impressive when you factor in the offenses the Ravens faced, and the QBs taking snaps.

Pollard is a beast on run support and hitting guys over the middle. I LIKE IT! Zibby is a second rate safety. Doesn't scare anyone and isn't very physical. Oz strikes again!

the first game ed came back the bills threw for over 300 yards on us. that game was closer than it needed to be. and ill point out that we were smothering the broncos until landry let lloyd get behind him in coverage. we may not have played spectacular teams those first 6 weeks but our secondary did what it was supposed to do. the bills couldnt find their way out of a wet paper bag and the week they played us they had a coming out party and decided they had an offense. if zibikowski didnt have this skin condition going on right now, i dont think the ravens even think about signing another strong safety. big z is very very under rated. it could be his lack of interceptions, or his lack of playing time. I don't know why people are assuming that Pollard is being brought in to start; that safety position next to Ed Reed has had no permanent starter since Reed's been in the league. Gerome Sapp, Will Demps, Dawan Landry, Chad Williams -- all have filled in, all have left.

As far as I'm concerned, whether or not Pollard or Zbikowski or Nakamura get the starting nod, they will likely play second-fiddle to the next high-profile safety that the Ravens draft. I would like for one of the three to pan out, but it's unlikely.

lets see what the deal is, how many years, how much...might just be for short term
No financials, but it's a two year deal.
