Reed hasn't practiced at all, but I doubt he gets cut. Really, LaQuan is competing with guys like Hardy, Harper, and Marcus Smith for the last WR spot.

LaQuan is competing with himself for a position on the practice squad. Reed is our best kick returner when he returns to health. Guys like Harper and Smith are good on special teams. Hardy will not make the team if we sign Floyd or bring back Mason.

Future. 2 Maryland star recievers for Baltimore. That would be cooool
[/quote]

Maybe. As much as I love the Terps, I don't think that LaQuan will be on the field this year. Torrey will be a star someday but he needs to prove that he's not Darius Hayward-Bey.

Clayton was a first round pick, which obviously proves the FO wanted to upgrade the WR position. The point is the Ravens proved they do want to up the passing game.

Besides, Clayton's career shed no light on Torrey's potential, as well as Doss's for that matter.

Clayton was and is a solid receiver. He just didn't live up to the first round billing nor our expectations. Torrey will be better over time, but he's far from great now.

If I remember correctly it was neck to neck going into the end of preseason. What gave Cundiff the edge was not necessarily the beter kick % but the distance on his kickoffs.

Even though you are off topic: the bottom line is that Cundiff has a job this year and Graham is looking for one. I think the coaches made the right choice.

As deep as the position is, it's not out of the realm of possibility that LaQuan wins the final WR job. He probably won't, but we've seen UDFAs make the final roster before.

I don't remember Harper doing anything noteworthy on special teams.

Laquan seemed not great, but good enough for the cut.

I was not off topic. I was making a point on past experience with our coaching staff, something directly from the OP. I think the Coaches made the right choice, but I remember the general consensus was that people were surprised when Cundiff was named the kicker and Graham got the boot. A decision I was very happy about, but surprised none the less. Something that very well could happen with Williams this year, he could make the roster if he keeps turning heads.

All I can say is Harper has got to be cut at last. I'm predicting that it's finally the time. People say he could do something if he saw more playing time, but that just isn't going to happen. The only time I remember him in real action was when Clayton missed like two games in 09.

As far as the rest of the WR corps, it's good having all this competition. It brings out the best in players.
