Purple Punishment

Laquan Williams

I have been reading that this kid is having one hell of a camp. My issue is, even if he outshines Torrey or Doss he still wont make it on the depth chart. Just the way I feel about our coaching staff

Why on earth would you feel that way. He may not get the starting role right out of the gate, but he would probably make the team if he did so well. Our coaching staff picked Cundiff over the long proven kicker Shane Graham last year.

My thoughts exactly. If he's impressing more than the likes of Harper or Hardy then he'll make the roster over them, simple.

Also, Doss will see playing time. He's the third or fourth receiver right now and hopefully we've learned from the mistake of not allowing receivers to contribute.

It's not about the coaching staff. Torrey and Tandon's draft status essentially guarantees them roster spots this season. That would be the case on any roster. Reed hasn't practiced at all, but I doubt he gets cut. Really, LaQuan is competing with guys like Hardy, Harper, and Marcus Smith for the last WR spot.

That's because Graham missed field goals and Cundiff i think only missed 1 in the preseason. Plus it was only to light a fire under Cundiff and get his competitive joices going.

In the pre-season and during training camp, we're going to be subjected to a large amount of coachspeak, talking guys up that aren't that good. Williams could be a product of this coach speak, and that's what I think it is right now. We won't know anything worthwhile about these prospects until at least the first preseason game, don't let the hype train get up to speed yet.

Your right and thats sad, you always see some WRers making plays in the preseason and if anything , you will see them on Special teams.

The NFL has turned into (not turning into) a passing League and im still waiting on the RAVENS to get that Memo. Maybe they are sending it in Morris code.

Does drafting a DB and two recievers with their first 4 picks not send that message?

Thats not always the Wr's faults. We should've had the playmaking ability last season, but Cam decided not to use them, hence the reason why Stallworth had more carries than catches, and TJ only had like 300 yards.

So draft status sets the prescendence on who or who doesnt see the field? Even if hes competing for the last spot, I heard he has burned CB Jimmy Smith and juked Ed Reed making great catches

Exactly , everyone on every Team looks good right now. Man i cant wait for next thursday, especailly playing the Eagles (the dream team) even though we will only see the first string of both teams for a few drives if that.

We will see how our team is compared to others in the 4th preseason game. I do know The Rookies will get alot more playing time compared to yrs passed because of the missed mini camps , o.t.a, etc.

Yea and im still pissed off about that, Stallworth was good. Just never got a chance. He should make a difference playing for the Redskins depending on how their QB is playing.

I feel sorry for the Skins, they try so hard to be good with signing big names, different coaches etc. Its not about who you sign, its about how the players mess together.

I think whether he makes the roster will be dependant on his abilitiy to contribute on ST because I don't think he's going to play well enough to outplay Torrey or Tandon.

When hasn't it? If a team invests a draft pick in a player, they're going to want to get a return on that investment. Unless that player completely embarrasses himself in preparation or game situations, he's going to get more opportunities to prove himself than a UDFA would.

LaQuan has made some good plays in training camp, but so have Doss and Torrey. I'd love to see him make the team, but he's got an uphill battle.

Umm yea but look at yrs passed with the draft, we drafted Clayton, Williams, Harper, Smith. They just never seem to work out. Either they cant stay healthy or they just don't pan out. Clayton showed signs of greatness but he just couldn't get open, i heard he wasn't the best route runner either. And Williams was good but was Always, always hurt, he was never on the field and when he was he really didn't make a difference. He was a giant too, half the time he didn't even have to jump for the ball. lol

Clayton was a first round pick, which obviously proves the FO wanted to upgrade the WR position. The point is the Ravens proved they do want to up the passing game.

Besides, Clayton's career shed no light on Torrey's potential, as well as Doss's for that matter.

If I remember correctly it was neck to neck going into the end of preseason. What gave Cundiff the edge was not necessarily the beter kick % but the distance on his kickoffs.

It's TC, how a player plays changes every day. And you'll only "hear" of the really noteworthy things, coaches break down hours of practice. I also heard he dropped a few passes and got stripped for a fumble, it happens. We'll see how he does in the games.

Oh im not disagreeing with you, i personally think the Offense will be better and hopefully we Pass more and actually move the chains doing it. Maybe that will work if our Running game gets better, which i know will. It sure as heck cant get anyworse imo.

I see some real talent at WR now, the real Question is .... Is Cam going to step it up and mix it up. We all know his Job depends on it.
I hope he does even though i want him gone, but i want to succeed more than i want Cam gone. I guess thats the best way to put it with Cam Cameron.
