Ha Ha browns

48 posts in this topic

I heard the browns 1st round pick OT joe thomas may not play the begining of the season because of a contract holdout.

I dont really like to laugh at the browns as they are already the laughing stock of the AFC north, and I feel bad for them. Its like kicking a really, really ugly puppy.

But being unable to sign your 1st draft pick is kind of like a 20 year old being unable to get it up.( no offence to anyone in that situation).

So i'm going to laugh at them, and laugh hard!

And you can too...

Ist round holdouts are not unusual. It happens to every team sooner or later.

Karma is a terrible thing, so be very careful about laughing at another team's misfortunes. Besides, your post is very close to crossing the smack line. Consider this a warning not to go any further with your 'put down'.

Oh wow yeah because I mean, no first round pick *ever* holds out. It just NEVER happens. First of all, "heard" that he may not be playing is really all it is at this very moment. Fortunately, Savage did not trade Schaffer away and if we need to we can plug him in at LT for the time being. If he chooses to hold out, then we deal with that bridge when we cross it. *shrugs*

I don't really care if you laugh at Cleveland cause I'll be the first to admit they've been bad the past few seasons, but how about laughing at them for something legitimate besides something as dull and repetitive as a holdout?

I could see him holding out it would suck to be drafted by the Browns =/ you basically figure you will finish last in the division, never will see a SB ever.

The Browns have been more and more encouraging lately. Now, they won't ever explode from worst to first, the way the Saints did (the AFC North is just too good a division), but they might start to move ahead of the Steelers as their offense solidifies. And who knows, the Bengals might get shut down under the RICO Act. :P

Mocking the Browns for something that is just a part of football is kinda silly. Especially since Thomas knows that he's a huge part of the future of the team. After all, Ngata held out last year. It's just something that these young men do, trying to get the best contract they can. Life in football can be short, and lots of first-round picks aren't in the league after five years. Five years ago, Mike Williams, Wendell Bryant, William Green, and Robert Thomas were first round picks that are now on the outside looking in.

Shut down? RICO act means? I'm lost.

Anyway's "mocking" the Browns isn't silly sorry I dislike them so much I may have sounded a bit harsh towards the team. Plus we need a bit of smack around here to pep thing's up its been quite boring get's people's blood pumping and post's flying as long as it's clean smack with no cussing etc.. makes things a bit more fun if you ask me.

The RICO Act is the act that the US Federal Government uses to prosecute members of criminal organizations, like the mob. It was a cheapshot at the Bengals' arrest record.

There's nothing wrong with mocking the Browns. I just don't think it's right to mock them for holdouts. Rather, we should mock them because our team is much, much better than theirs. Really, I can't put much heart into mocking the Browns anyways. There's just nowhere near the vehemence that I have for, say, the Steelers or the Patriots.

Just want to remind you that we have a "no smack" policy. If we allow our fans to smack other teams, then in all fairness we'd have to allow fans of other teams to smack back. At that point it gets too ugly and all heck tends to break loose. Banning posters is not our goal, good lively football discussion is.

I wish the bengal's could get shut down that would be GREAT but not possible.. But I agree I have much more hate for the Steeler's and Pat's then the browns.. But I and I mean "I" CANNOT STAND the bengal's and their fan's more then any team in the NFL.

BTW- Is Henry going to be out of the NFL for the year? for his arrest's does anyone know? If not he should be or better be plus we could use him to be out :).

Thought it was allowed as long as noone is cussing or attacking anyone or going to far..

If I'm wrong then I had no idea.... I am just speaking my mind I wasn't bashing anyone or using "profanity" on the board or really in my opinion doing anything wrong. Are we not allowed to express how we feel towards a team without using profanity or personally attacking someone?

I know for a fact! what I said about how the brown's stink and they will never see a SB ever wasn't smack even though I said in another post it's fun to talk smack get's the blood pumpin etc.. But If I do ever talk smack which I wont I would expect to see what you said in the above post but being that I don't really think I talked smack at all I'm a bit confused.

How loosely is 'smack' defined? If I say that Ed Reed is better than Brian Dawkins, have I smacktalked? I mean, I think it's pretty clear that if one were to claim that the Bengals are the suckiest team what ever did suck and that Ray Lewis will eat their children, that'd be over the line, but where does arguing the merits of this team or that player over another turn into 'smack'?

Agree with me? I wasn't making a statement, but rather asking a question. If they wish to set down guidelines, then that's their perogative. This house belongs to the Ravens, and their moderation staff. I just want to know where the line is, so I can police myself.

Besides, to be fair, a board dedicated to the Baltimore Ravens probably isn't the best place to smacktalk, since everyone already agrees with you. The whole point of talking smack is to get a reaction, and there's all sorts of third-party boards where you can meet fans of other teams, and annoy them. I can see the point to a policy limiting that sort of thing on the official team board.

My bad about the above post LOL I misread, but I didn't know though all I'm saying is I didn't even realize I talked any smack if I did.

I did mention it is fun and get's the blood pumping but I respect the rule's and will not talk smack. But if someone took it that I was "Smack Talking" I had no clue that would be even considered talking smack and I apologize.

I think you're right on with this post here Neil. I'm sure the policy is in place because you get your typical troll posters that just wanna flame the board with pointless garbage posts and have no clue what they are talking about. I like to at least think that I'm a legitimate poster and personally I'm not much of a big smack talker anyways.. but I can see where Birdman is coming from on this and it's all good.

As far as my earlier post again, I don't really care about people bashing Cleveland cause hey, they suck. I'll be the first one to admit it. However they are making strides I do believe to get better and maybe if for once they don't lose 18 million players to some stupid staph infections, they might try and make a decent season. As with Thomas of course I'd like him to get signed and in camp but it's the nature of 1st round picks unfortunately and you just deal with it and work around it if needed. My only real hope is that they do *NOT* can Crennel during the season or Savage. I think he deserves a fair chance at something and the last two years he's been hardly working with any of his players.. this year he is starting too now and I think he at least deserves that shot to prove something.

Also I wasn't offended by anything anyone said.

Actually no that wasn't pointed to you at all in any way.. that was directed towards the point that Birdman said. If you allow smack then you'll get trolls that come on here and post garbage.

My bad if that came off wrong, wasn't directing that to you at all.

First of all, he isn't out for the season. There is a possible holdout, that doesn't mean he won't play at all in '07.

As far as Bentley he opted to not have any further surgery and according to him, he will be at training camp as scheduled and ready to participate in drills according to him. I'm an optimistic guy but I'll personally wait until that day comes and if he's there, then I'll be convinced.

G'luck this year in all seriousness seem's like year after year your team has some huge pile of bad luck drop on you hope bentley will be back this year for you all, you will need him.

Yeah it gets old no doubt. I mean granted yes we are not as good as other teams but this crap for luck doesn't really help. Fraley didn't do too bad of a job filling in but IMO I agree with you, we *need* Bentley in there if possible. I wish Cleveland could just simply wake up one day and know who their freaking QB is gonna be without question LOL.

I think Anderson.... He was on fire the few pre-season games he played with us till we made the mistake and let him go....

Or maybe do what tennessee did last year and give the QB's shots of playing time even though it could mess with your season and see who will come out catching everyones eye....

It appears right now Anderson has the edge on it. I don't think Quinn will start right off the bat because I don't think they wanna re-create Tim Couch, part II. Frye I do like but dude has got to work on his accuracy. His mobility is what gives him the chance to get the starting nod IMO. Who knows.. I suppose it won't be decided until midway through preseason at the earliest.

We will be dealing with the same problems soon enough when McNair retires.... Weather Troy will start or Boller or If Finnerty is still around and troy isn't so that's going to be hell we have had QB problems since we were established in `96 up until last year or so, so I know how you feel its horrible.. Hopefully Boller will be cut when McNair retires and Troy starts and Finnerty is his backup that guy is amazing.

I really don't see Thomas' hold out going that long. I think Savage will find a way to make sure the deal is done and Thomas is gettnig PT in preseason. I can see Brady's hold out going a bit longer as the argument will be weather they base it on this years 1st round pick at 23 or on the fact that Cleveland used their 1st round pick next year and the agent try to base it on percieved/history of when Cleveland picks.

I do think he, as well as any 1st round QB who thinks of holding out, needs to contact Phillip Rivers and find out if Phillip thinks his hold out cost him a chance at starting earlier in his career.

Good discussions going on here, both the one about "what is smack" and the one about the challenges the Browns face.

Defining "smack" is pretty difficult...that's more of a "I'll know it when I see it" kind of thing. In general, though, saying that the Ravens are better than the Browns is NOT smack (and is, in fact, true). Starting a thread entitled "Ha Ha Browns" and referring to them as an ugly puppy is pushing the limits, though, because it can be considered inflammatory (designed to annoy Browns fans). Please notice that we left the thread alive. We just wanted to tell you that you're AT the line, don't cross it.

No doubt. The single stupidest thing that GMs and owners do is can coaches after only a season or two. Really, to take a team as consistently messed up as the Browns have been, and bring them back to glory is something that takes more than a season, especially if you don't have the right personel. With the off-season the Browns just had, they deserve to give Crennel at least two more seasons.

Disagree. We'd be foolish to cut Future Hall of Famer Kyle Boller.
