Then explain how hes failing physicals left and right.

Although he is great when healthy, we don't know if he has recovered from his back problems and if he is in shape. If we did sign him I have to wonder how it would affect Oher's development. If we want Oher to become our LT of the future then bringing Gaither back is just going to keep him from getting better at that position.

I don't think we bring him in to play LT at all. We sign him with the condition that he plays RT. I agree that we cannot mess with Oher and his continuity at LT right now. Aslo, all the reports and tweets coming out of TC are that he is doing great... We will have the flexibility though to put him in at LT should Oher be hurt...

Regardless of the injury, Gaither quit on this football team. Despite all the coach and front office speak going around, the organization has no intention to bring back a guy like that, nor did they ever. A few false starts and some growing pains are causing fans to throw Oher under the bus when he is a good player and could still be a great player. Gaither is just another story of wasted talent, he was one of the most physically gifted LTs ever to play the game, but a lack of work ethic and a very poor attitude appears to have killed his career.

All I know is that if the guy can't pass a physical, we shouldn't waste money resigning him.

It's scary how Mike Preston completely ruined Jared Gaither's reputation without a single shred of proof or evidence. People just eat right out of Preston's hand.

All they need to hear is Rosenhaus is his agent. After that, any sort of kookie conspiracy theory Glenn Beck, sorry I mean Mike Preston, throws out there gets eaten right up.

What confuses me is that people will actually say things like "he wanted more money so he faked an injury."

Yeah, that really makes sense. Because teams have a historic track record of paying players who are injured more than their healthy counterparts. Just think about it. Rhetoric like this is actually implying that Gaither would at least be receiving the same amount of money.

Gaither gets less money here, he failed TEAM physicals with TEAM doctors (despite Preston reporting the opposite w/ no evidence; i.e., that Gaither only saw outside doctors) and doesn't qualify for many of his incentives and bonuses. Meanwhile, his reputation is completely ruined since it was bad to begin with and Rosenhaus is his agent.

Now all of a sudden he's faking an injury. He is using a fake injury to get more money. He goes to Oakland for a physical and gets passed up. Is he faking the injury in Oakland too?

Did he not want any of Oakland's money, either? Face it. The NFL is a very non-critical-thinking oriented league. Few teams practice it in their front offices (the Ravens and most of the Belichick tree do). Once a player fails a years worth of physicals and then gets a physical by the Raiders and fails...

...their entire playing career is done. It's so fragile, too.

100% agree. Who fakes an injury for more money?

Personally I'd love for Gaither to come back (if he can play although it looks like he may not). The fact is, even if he gets hurt 6 games in, he will be a better RT that Reid, for a very low price.

Oh and another thing for everyone saying he wasted his talent because he didnt have work ethic, remember this, he didn't waste his talent.

He was a good, Franchise Left Tackle, then he got injured. Simple as that. It's sad to see but it happens, and in my mind its criminal to criticize what he did on the field for this team because he got injured. If he didnt get injured, we'd probably be talking about how he is the next JO and him and Oher will be a dominant tackle pair.

I look at it this way, at least Gaither is supposedly failing physicals at least due in part to his back injury from last year... not due to inflating himself to over four hundred pounds like some offensive linemen in this league.

Rosenhaus is a snake, he's known for posturing to create more bargaining leverage. Nobody believed that Gaithers "injuries" were legitimately as bad as he made them out to be, the general concensus is that he was hurt but not enough to be on IR, he also tried to use this as leverage for a trade. He also dropped weight in an effort to remain on the left side to increase his FA value. Now while he was/is a better LT than Oher his attitude and durability issues forced the decision to switch sides.
