I am probably going to sound like an old fogey here, but my tastes vary - there is some of Kanye that I enjoy, such as "Touch the Sky", and there is some of Dylan which I can get into.

My current tastes are toward The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello) and Frank Zappa, although I am also one for some Tony Bennett and certainly some Sinatra - Francis Albert, Frank Jr. and certainly Nancy.

does anyone else around here listen to the blues?
Like, Stevie Ray Vaughan/ BB King Blues, or Fleetwood Mac Blues? (I've heard of FM considered a light California Blues for their early stuff.)

I like all three. I just bought a SRV live DVD actually. Has two shows on it.

Is the Full Moon Saloon still operating down near Fells Point? Great blues bar. First place I used a fake ID, lol.

because pink floyd is awesome in pretty much every conceivable way, and to say that they are a "jumble of random and poor quality instruments and vocals" i just cannot agree with you. but the beauty of music is that it is completely subjective, no right no wrong.

i could listen to clapton play guitar all day. and to me clapton is a much better singer then geddy lee, dont get me wrong rush is awesome, but dude cant sing at all. robert plant cant sing but zeppelin rocks.
Pink Floyd's singer is awful. I agree, Clapton is a great guitarist. However, there are very few songs where his voice actually sounds good its too edgy and his tone quality is poor. Geddy Lee's voice is very much an aquired taste. He can sing though. Listen to the Rush song "Time Stand Still" and then tell me what you think of his voice. Yeah, Robert Plant has some pitch issues, but overall, his poor singing kind of adds to the power of Zeppelin.

I'm a big music nerd. All-time favorite band is probably Radiohead with the Beatles as a very close second. I like a lot of classic rock too Zepellin, Stones, Doors, Pink Floyd, CCR, GnR (is that classic rock now?). Also a big fan of the 90's alternative and grunge Nirvana, STP, Foo Fighters, Pearljam, Rage, Alice in Chains, Metallica, Audioslave, RHCP are one of my all time favorites too. Some modern bands I like: Arcade Fire, MGMT, Decemberists, Foster the People, Shins, older Coldplay, Gorillaz, Interpol, Muse, Stars, Animal Collective. I like some Hip-Hop too: big fan of Nas, the Roots, Eminem, Kanye has his moments, Jay-Z too, Pac, Dre, Wu Tang (I like Method Man's solo career too), Busta.

Haha yeah, I like all kinds of music, as long as its good. I really just dislike the majority of the drivel that is played on the radio.

More Portal music.

I rekindled my addiction to "Still Alive" by repeatedly playing it on guitar.
Still Alive is amazing. The wife just doesn't get it, though. Oh well.

Also, Swedish Metal for the win.

floyd had two singers and i think that David Gilmour's voice way pretty good and one might say Roger Water's voice is an acquired taste as well. i personally think that as long as the voice fits the music then its all good

Why not? Did she play the game? The music is clever, addicting and funny at every single facet. No surprise it won awards too.

I like Exile Vilify from Portal 2 as well.

She hasn't. Shes more into the Sims and Viva Pinata.
Hate to say it, but I haven't played Portal 2 yet. Waiting for a used copy at the local Gamestop.

Just got into a band that released an album a few years ago... Hoffmaestro & Chraa

Sweden rocks.

Anyone here ever heard of Frank Turner? He played a spectacular show at the Ottobar last Friday night and along with The Gaslight Anthem, he is my favorite artist.

Ellipse was really good. If you like her old stuff, you'll like her latest album. I'm still listening to Speak For Yourself. One of the best/most creative albums I've ever heard.

I actually stumbled upon SFY by accident. I meant to preview a Gnarls Barkley album in a Borders bookstore, but the audio station was mislabeled, and after hearing the first two minutes of Headlock, I bought it.

Headlock is an amazing song. I'm writing a screenplay and for the soundtrack I use a lot of Imogen Heap, such as Hide and Seak, Headlock, The Moment I Said It, amongst some others. I also really like Bon Iver. Woods and Holocene are my favorite songs. Kanye West is my favorite artist ever, but when he sampled Woods to make Lost In The World, I hated it because he took such a beautiful song and added too much to it. Some songs should just be left alone.

I've started listening to Eminem recently. He puts a lot of emotion into his songs, which is one of the things I really like about him.
I've also been a long time fan of the Beastie Boys. Have all of their albums stashed away somewhere in the attic.

Suddenly Regina Spektor obsession. That was unexpected.

That is, however, something that the wife loves. A lot. I currently like Hotel Song and few others I don't know the name of. "Life inside the music box ain't easy..."

Lol. Not necessarily her as a whole but more on her two songs: Fidelity and Laughing With.
