I remember he did alright with the Ravens during his early stint here, and he's done well with the Redskins, but I doubt he's able to go full-tilt for a full season. O-linemen have more general abuse done to their bodies than most positions, largely because they face contact on every single play.

I'd take him for depth but I wouldn't expect him to be outstanding.

This is the first I've heard of this and don't see it anywhere else. It would be such a smart move, back up an aging veteran with an aging veteran.

No, that was "Casey Ryback". In this case it should be Casey Whyback!

New Center uh. I agree for depth. We need younger center though.
We just added two young centers as undrafted Free Agents.

Ryan Bartholomew was actually working with the first team in Birk's absences today.

However, if we could bring a guy like Rabach in, it'd be a smart move imo.

Rabach has both guard and Center experience, so he could definitely come in handy with both Grubbs and Birk overcoming injury.

It would also be a cool story for him to come back and win a Super Bowl with the team he started with.

Having Rabach, or some other vet allows you to put Bartholomew and those other guys on the PS and groom them for next year.

He's narrowed it down to Baltimore and Cincinnati and he can't decide. Seriously. I mean seriously. Between a former team that gave you a start in this league and the BENGALS. The Bengals better be offering to way overpay or I don't see how this isn't a no brainer.

Why wouldn't we look at a veteran tackle instead?
who says we aren't?

Ozzie doesn't sell wolf tickets to the media about who the Ravens are interested in.

The Jets made a lot of noise during FA and did nothing but re-sign their own players and replace one of their top WRs with a 35 year old guy who was in prison for the last 2 years.

Ozzie isn't gonna allow the Ravens name to be linked to every Free Agent, and he also isn't gonna inform everyone who we are looking at.

Whenever we find out about it, usually a deal is already in the works.

Exactly it has to be the Bengals paying him more money, because why would anyone want to go to a team that is in that much disarray. It should be a no brainer honestly.

You cant even say that team is in the rebuilding process, they are done to me for atleast 2 yrs. Only teams we have to worry about is the Stealers and maybe the Browns if they keep progressing like they have been. Their Defense has been great for a the last few seasons.

This can't be true right? What useful purpose could he serve at his age? Well he was good when he was with us but that was several years ago. I just cannot imagine the abuse his body must have endured over the years.... but I guess the FO knows what they are doing...

A backup and nothing more. Even though I think it was one of the best moves made, the Ravens lost their top backup on the oline when we allowed Chester to sign with Washington.

Rabach has experience at both guard and center. It's not about him coming on board and taking us over the top, every FA signing isn't meant to do that.

Right now, Cousins is the only guy I can see backing up at Guard who has NFL experience. Our top option at Center, although promising, is a rookie who went undrafted.

So bringing in Rabach to help provide some quality depth to the interior of the line, won't be a sexy move, but it'll be an efficient one.

Looks like another ex-Raven who cashed in after having success here in Baltimore but found that the grass is usually NOT greener on the side

That's exactly why we would bring him is for backup at the C position. He wouldn't be a starter by any means.

We have no one that can really be a back-up C for us. A bunch of undrafted rookies but they need time. Which is a little bit of a concern. Before we had Chris Chester who could slide over if needed. So IMO Rabach would be an excellent pickup for us in terms of depth.

I dunno, they were talking like he could start for Birk who may not be able to go with a knee injury...

Still waiting for a back-up RB, WR, and OT!!

Is this a serious thread? We let him go when he was begin to decline as an average player. If he was starting to decline and mediocre when we released him, what do you think he is now?Hint: nothing you want to see on the field under any circumstances. We have standards lol. May not seem that way after employing Chester for so long, but we dont intentionally pay guys to suck.

*edit*

apparentally we dont have standards, and do in fact intentionally pay guys to suck

The Ravens are looking at veteran C Casey Rabach because of Matt Birk's knee issues.
