He will fit well with the Chiefs but he still won't get what he is looking for with Charles leading the way. Good luck to him though!

Don't Cheifs have thomas Jones as well? Why wouldn't he just resign here when there's a back up RB spot wide open...
I have a feeling that he was thinking about coming back, just seeing what other options he would get. He had that twitter blow up last night and the next day he signs with the Chiefs for a one year deal. IMO that Chiefs deal was on the table but he was waiting for us to offer him a multi-year deal. Once he felt disrespected, he prob said f them and joined the Chiefs. Again, this is just me speculating.

ill miss Leron man. I really wanted us to get him back. If we end up trading for Osi Umenyora it'll be all worth it though. Who's gonna be our number 2 running back?? What is our vision for a Super Bowl run? i havent seen one move yet that makes us better besides Leech...thats not enough..what are we doing?!!

I don't understand this move, from LeRon's perspective. I mean, he wants to be a full time running back, he wants to score, he wants the ball. Here in Baltimore, he could have been a valuable third down back, change of pace guy and a goal line guy.

Instead, he signs with the Chiefs, who have Jamaal Charles, perhaps the best running back in the AFC, and who have Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster backing him up?

If he wanted the ball, weren't his chances better as a Raven?

He will be missed, but I have a feeling we have found a deep round gem in Anthony Allen from Georgia Tech.

dont need a starting caliber backup RB to go get our trophy. Look at the last decade dude, starting with our 2000 Ravens.

Osi is no longer an option. Giants retracted his ability to look for a trade.

That they did, but is it just a ploy to posture themselves back into a desperate team in a few weeks that will unload a 1st?

I aint gonna lie, i was thinking that last night too. Like what if a twitter feud ruined our chances to get him back? But i just thought i was being dumb at the time lol.

So he wants to carry the ball more but he goes to a team with an established 2 back system of Charles and Jones? Doesn't add up to me

Honestly, it occured to me that the Steelers might be looking at the guy or trying to sign him. I realize that they are non players in the FA market, but I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised if it had happened.

That said, good luck in KC LeRon. I think they're running game just improved as well.

Doesn't sound like McClain is going to get as many running attempts as people thought. I found this snippet on CBS Sports:
Le'Ron McClain spoke a bunch over the last year about getting more opportunities to run with the ball, but Chiefs coach Todd Haley doesn't seem him that way. A day after signing him, Haley explained what he saw in McClain. "I think he's a big physical fullback who has shown good running ability," Haley said. "He's very clear, and we are very clear that he's coming in as our fullback."
Unbelievable, first he wants more carries. Goes to the chiefs for only a one year deal. Now he says "I'm a fullback". What a hypocrite.

He could have stayed and gotten more carries behind Ray.

“I’m a fullback, and I’m here to win. Two things. Just two things: Getting Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones 1,000 (yards) apiece, that’s what I’m here to do. Blocking linebackers, picking up linebackers, keeping them off Cassel. Anything I can do to help the team win.”

I dont think McClain is the sharpest tool in the shed...Believe me, I wanted him back as RB2, but after ****ing all offseason for more carries then he goes to KC where he will get next to none makes noooo sense.

I think he burned his bridge here, the front office no longer wanted him, he went into Free Agency & discovered that the league didn't feel like he was worth what he believed he was worth & was humbled. I can't imagine any other reason why he would leave the Ravens to become a full-time full back when he wanted to be a running back & wouldn't come back to the Ravens where he would get more carries than at KC.

I would have really liked to have seen LeRon stay, but with his actions he really kind of punched his own ticket out of town. He seems to have shown the attitude that just does'nt cut it on the Ravens, he knew that coming in. I think the FO had already considered him not being on the team and had another plan in mind. We have young players that this should really motivate and there is still alot of cuts and trades that will play out as camps continue. Good luck LeRon hope it all works out for you but I can't help thinking the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

I agree with every word you said man. I wish we could have kept him and used him as a back RB and run him behind Leach. But it doesnt always work out the was us ravens fans want it. So good luck to him. I dont know how he expects to become a RB for the Chiefs with them having Charles, Jones, and McCluster ahead of him. But i guess he can dream.

Can't believe McClain will never be a Raven again. Wow. Good luck in KC man, I'll miss you and that swag you carried around. You were always one of my favorite Ravens.

Swag, aka attitude not fitting that of a Raven, overrated and confused as to his role in the league.

lol yah I think the dude didn't know what he wants to do. Being a RB, he can get some "leftover" snaps when others are so tired, or being a FB, he can plow hole for RB but didn't look good statistically on FF. In the end, when reality check comes to his mind, he's too old to dig holes for RB.

PS: I'm ecstatic when we sign Vonta Leach, so much upgrade over McClain. I'm sure the Chiefs' bench will be warmed in the winter and thank to McClain lol.

It was proven in '08 that he could tote the rock with success. We have the best FB in the league so I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't be able to successfully spell Rice. He wanted the ball more, I don't see why fans get all bent out of shape over that.

Assuming the bent out of shape part was/is directed to someone else, as I am clearly not bent out of shape. I just feel he is overrated and I have always felt that way. He struggled mightily to gain yards these past 2 years. I think the NFL has heard the last of McClain, in regards to having "probowl worthy years"....although he made the probowl as a FB with average RB numbers.

Telling y'all what happen, you spoli any FB with asking him to assume the RB duties for a full season and I'm pretty sure most would want to convert to a RB full time after having a big taste of RB and having a little success at that. The FO is to blame just as much as McClain, should have signed a RB in 09 instead of moving our FB to RB.

It rather irks me that McClain talked so much about wanting to be a running back, wanting touches, not just blocking. So he heads to Kansas City, and what's the first thing he says?

"If I’ve got to block, I’ll do that. If I’ve got to run, I’ll do that. I’ll do anything I can to get a W on the board for the Chiefs. It’s not about me. I’m a fullback, and I’m here to win. Two things. Just two things: Getting Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones 1,000 (yards) apiece, that’s what I’m here to do. Blocking linebackers, picking up linebackers, keeping them off Cassel. Anything I can do to help the team win."

Where were those comments for Flacco and Rice, Le'Ron? As a Raven, you preached "more runs, more touches", but as soon as you fly the coop, you talk about blocking and getting Charles and Jones yards? Get real.

it would have be nice to have Rice, Leach and McClain as our "new" three-headed monster in the Ravens backfield. however, Le'Ron wants to be a "featured" back not a back up. so, i knew he was sign elsewhere. good luck to you McClain!
