BALTIMOREFLACCO

UPDATED: LeRon McClain Signs With The Chiefs

92 posts in this topic

Ever since we dropped McGahee and signed Leach, I've been very curious as to what is going to happen to him. Personally, I'd love to see him get the carries he wants, as images from 2008 play in mind. Immagine 3rd and goal and Leron carrying the ball behind Leach. Does anyone know what's going on with him? My intuition is telling me that he won't be back, but I hope that's not the case =/.

Wilbert Montgomery just said in a press conference that LeRon is still not out of the picture - they may still be considering him...

I dont think the FO buys into the McClain hype, so therefore they will not re-sign him.

I'd like for him to sign too, but mainly just because I want all ex-Ravens to stay Ravens. In reality, we should use whatever money might go into resigning him (definitely over 2 million a year, at least) towards paying a WR/DE/OL through trade or free agency. We have a top 5 RB with the top FB in the league. I consider the backfield strong enough.

I would love to have him back. 2 pro bowl FBs. But I doubt it will happen. Unless McClains attitude changes and wouldnt mind being a backup.

I would love to see him back. He's in my mind the most versitile fulback in the league, being able to run, block, and even recieve when needed. I can imagine matchup nightmares for defensive coordinators having Mcclain at Rb, Leach at Fb, and putting Rice in the slot receiver position, or even Mcclain in a more TE like position and leach and rice in the backfield. Having all three would allow for some much flexibility in the run and even pass game.

He'd be fine backing up Ray Rice as the #2 RB. He just doesn't want to play fullback.

yeah thats what he said, but i think its just a matter of time before he gets signed elsewhere

the ravens could go with a RB already on the team..we really need OL depth, and a WR

McClain sorta rubbed me the wrong way with his decision to lose 20 or 30 pounds and basically force a change of position. That said, we were most effective against the Steelers when we went heavy with Lorenzo Neal blocking for McClain. The Steelers could not stop it. So if we can get him cheap I'm ok with it but I doubt we can get him cheap.

Its time for one of the young guys to step up.

On passing plays, if MCclain is in at HB on the same time as Vonta is in, your talking about UNSTOPABLE blocking from both. Flacco would never have to worry about Troy Polomoaasdlsafj or however you spell his name. Just because MCclains looking to become a halfback, doesnt mean he will lose his blocking. Not to mention, he is a Power Runner, a nice compliment to Riiiiiiice. Another question, what would we call Leach, and Leron if they were together.

A. The beast, and the Animal
B. The big LV
C. Brute and Boss
D. Other

I know but he was a probowl FB too. Still would help blocking and pound it on the goal line

if i were mcclain i wouldve stayed a fb due to the fact they are harder to find in this day and age. the average career of a rb is much shorter because there are a lot more replacements, but i would still want him back nonetheless

I don't think McClain was a particularly good running back, I think he benefited from having most of the touches. If he truly was a decent option to get more carries the past two years, the coaches would have given him more carries the past two years.

We have a real fullback now who likes to hit people, so I don't really care where McClain winds up. Spending cap space on him would be an absolute waste now.

I disagree, he wasn't a bad option at all. Le'Ron was a great power running back in '08. Legs kept churning and guys would either get dragged or Le'Ron would break free. Now I don't think he could ever go on to be a feature back, but he'd be a good complement back. Of course he's dropped weight, so who knows if he'd be the player he was in '08 running the ball. If we could afford him, I don't think I'd mind him backing up Rice.

That run against the cowboys is the one that always plays in my head when i think of McClain.

I would LOVE to have him back, him running behind Leach would remind me of when he ran behind Neal. and that was amazing. so yeah it would be awesome IMO

If he's willing to take backup RB money to be a backup RB then I'm all for it. It would open up a whole world of possibilities in the running game.

I defiantly think we need a bigger change of pace back behind rice i would love to have McClain but he wants a long term big contract. No way we will give it to him I do hope we pick up someone with some experience

Meh, I've never been a huge fan of his. The only way I would want him to return would be as a back up, and he better know his role.....as a back up. Stop with the whole McClain4RB crap.

I actually like Anthony Allen
From baltimore Sun.
On the flip side of Berry's struggles, rookie running back Anthony Allen looked powerful. During a full-team drill, Allen bulled through the offensive line, and it took three defensive players to bring him down after a gain of 12 yards. On the next play, Allen wouldn't go down even after being stood up at the 1, and a gang of defensive players pushed him out of bounds.

If we can sign him at an affordable rate as a back-up running back, I'm all in! He would see more carries then he did last year and gives us a powerful back-up that knows the system. I would take him over a lot of the veterans available...

He was a probowl FB due to yards rushed, not actual FB'ing duties.

I don't see it happening. We have plenty of RB's on the roster right now and one of those guys is going to impress enough to back our boy Ray. Le'Ron is going to end up with a team in the same role he had with us under a contract that wouldn't have been as good as if he would have re-signed with us. There isn't a team where he will be a #1 so he will be forced to back up or play FB.

McClain hasn't thrown a half decent block since like college. I dont blame him for wanting to be a RB, since he has given up on his responsibilities as a FB.ea

Gotta agree. Although I think Leron is a top run blocking FB, his pass blocking is so bad, we would be pretty much the same with only 10 players on the field.
