With the signing of Kelly Gregg, Willis McGahee and now Todd Heap by other teams. Will the Ravens sign Derrick Mason back?

I believe we will bring in a veteran receiver, but I'm not sure if it's going to be Mason. Personally, I'd rather see Randy Moss brought in because he's a more dynamic threat than Mason, if the price is right. Long shot options at receiver also include Floyd, who fits Cam's system better than Mason does and is younger.

If there isn't a better option, Mason will be brought back though. I doubt we go into the season with Boldin as our only experienced pass catcher.

I don't see it happening. The good news is that it gives our young guys opportunities to show what they are made of that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise, and it will propel Flacco into the vocal leader of the Offense.

I would like to see Flacco develop more of a rapport with his other receivers rather than lock into Mason on outs. I do think we need to address WR because our lack of experience is really troubling. Floyd would be a great fit. He is a major deep threat

Remember we do have Hardy who is "experienced" meaning, he at least played in the NFL 2 seasons before. I heard he looks great in camp, but who knows how that translates to gameday. I think with Boldin/Hardy-Smith/and or Doss/Reed, we'll be fine. Im sure the lineup on week 1 will be Boldin/Smith/Hardy or Doss or Mason. They drafted two WR's to use them, not to let them sit.

Its a tough call. It seems as if the Ravens have a 'want' left on their FA wishlist at WR. Once that falls through, Mase is option B.

We shall see, if another team is interested in Mase, it might not take much longer.

I say let Mason retire in peace he is almost 40 years old. Please Mason go out while you're on top.

I think he wants one more season. Its a tough time to retire with the smell of pads hitting in the air. He's already prepared mentally, just needs a home.

That's how I see it. They are trying to fill in a want. I believe moves will be made after resigning Ngata to a new contract.

Yea, but reports said that they moved him to the second unit offense because he was dropping passes. Not a good sign.

I just want to see the new guys play and learn. If Mason comes back that is fine, but only because I would like to see him retire a raven. But it's only hindering Joe Flacco and our rookies. We won't always have a deep threat on the field and that's what Joe needs to go along with his big arm. Torrey Smith could be our deep threat, but I guess we will never because we rarely run a 3 WR look. If we ran a spread shogun with 4 WR I could understand bringing Mason back, but I just don't understand why at this point.

I don't understand the begging for Steve Smith, Randy Moss, Derrick Mason... We have 11 WR on our current depth chart, if you can't find 4 to play ball this coming season something is seriously wrong. Even if our guys turn out to be bust? A Randy Moss or a Derrick Mason isn't going to win us a championship or a superbowl. So I say let the new guys suit up and take the field and see what happens.

Yeah, two seasons with 10 catches and not even 100 yards receiving. Hardy is quite experienced.

Mason was a malcontent and complainer when we went 13-3 but was happy when we went 5-11 but he got his stats.

A selfish wide receiver is not unexpected and it can be used to motivate.

But to complain with 13-3 but value your stats over a losing season is unforgivable. I've had enough of Mason

I think the Chiefs would be a good home or maybe even the Titans.
He's not coming back.

Oh give me a break. Show the man some respect, he gave everything he had every week of every season for this team. He was the toughest man on the offense and one of the toughest on the team period. To say he would rather us have a losing record but have nice personal statistics is skewed and twisted to fit your personal agenda. Sure he cared about seeing the ball, but he also cared about seeing this team win and getting as far as we could every year.

Would you say that if he was resigned?

I've heard Torrey Smith say that Mase was the guy who made sure he got a playbook and I believe he played a large role in organizing player only workouts, neither of which strike me as the actions of someone who's putting his personal stats ahead of the good of the team.
I wouldn't mind seeing him back as a back up to Q if he'd take the veteran minimum to do it. My main worry is although he staayed healthy last year that hasn't always been the case with Q and while I feel we have to freshen up and get younger at receiver, we need some experience there.

That's a very good point and I agree with you there. I don't know how many times Q had missed games due to his physical game style but I don't like the idea of Torrey, Reed and Doss being atop the depth chart this year, even if it is just for one or two games. That makes me quite confident that we'll sign a receiver, be it Mason or Moss or someone else.

Voted no for Masons return, not that I would be disappointed if he returned (his veteran presence for the rookies would help) but I really think the FO is ready to go young) unless he comes back cheap

Mase was a great "go to" possession guy while he was here, but he did have his drawbacks. I for one hated the crying and complaining, especially on the field. Time to move on.........

I heard D-Mase on the Norris and Davis show this morning on The Fan, and he sounded really sad/depressed... not the normal, jovial D-Mase.
