Hey Ravens fans now that Todd Heap is an cardinal , does ozzie go get a veteran to complement the youngsters Dickson or Pitta . Zach Miller is out there he is young at 26 not a bad pickup of they can find some money .

Zach Miller is a talented pass catching tight end, but we didn't drop Heap to pick up another big contract TE. Alge Crumpler is a possibility for his ability to block, but Miller will not be joining this team.

Miller would be luxury signing. If Ozzie signs a TE, it will be a cheap blocking specialist.

If their intention was to sign another tight end, they would have kept Todd Heap imo. I sincerely believe the coaching staff believe that Dickson, Pitta and Drew give them great TE depth...

I think the Ravens are more then happy with Dickson and Pitta, then Drew being the #3.

Zach Miller is capable of starting for a team. I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up with one of those young QBs.

Adding Miller would be a move you make if you have plenty of room under the cap and he's just sitting out there.

Right now the Ravens are up against it with the cap and really would have no need for Miller.

He's more proven then both Dickson and Pitta, but their potential is much greater then Miller. The Ravens have made a commit to our young guys. Now it's time for them to sink or swim.

I agree with you but he is too good to be still out there so maybe his price might be right for the ravens .

Well he's not gonna get big money anyway. But with the money it would take to sign him, even if it's minimal, it could be put into other areas.

Bringing Mason back, or Floyd in. Maybe adding a vet RT who was released from a team. Maybe upgrading the backup RB position with a veteran or a veteran Safety to kinda be that role player.

I just think adding a guy like Miller just wouldn't be in the cards right now. If it was last year, yes. But right now, the Ravens will focus on Ngata, and one of the WRs in Mason or Floyd.

sorry, when i posted in another post "whats next zack miller", i was being pretty sarcastic. Although it would be a great pick up, we wont spend that much money at this point on a TE. I think we roll with what we have.

I doubt it. We have much bigger priorities than trying to sign one of the better/younger FA TEs.
Ditto. We aren't going after a guy like Miller. I'd cross that off your list. It wouldn't surprise me if we pick up a no-name blocking TE.

OK we have added Leach, and with Dickson being carted off the practice field, we need a vet TE.

That injury wasn't serious at all.

That's good to hear. I just feel with heap gone we need another Vet TE. I have not gotten a good feel for Dickens or Pitta.

It could be because they haven't had much time playing.

The team drafted Dickson and Pitta to prepare for the departure of Todd Heap which was obviously in the near future at the time. A majority of us were all for the move then. Now the reason we got them has finally come and we're questioning them. We gotta use our young guys and let them grow on the field. With Dickson as the starter we will be fine. Trust me.

I had to give you a plus for asking a question, then quoting yourself and answering it.

Smoove.

Please tell me what you all think about the CB, DE and WR positions. Do we need to bring in a free agent to these positions, If you feel we do who do you recommend.

CB: Carlos Rodgers or Antonio Cromartie.
DE: Shaun Ellis, I relly liked Cullen Jenkins
WR: of course Mason! but what about braylon Edwards? Do we still hav e Housh?

Please tell me what you think.

Thanks-

Heap replaced Shannon Sharpe in his second season. Even with the holes in their game and the abbreviated off-season, I'm confident Dickson and Pitta can replace Todd in their second seasons.

I was just thinking out loud. I am ready for football. I want the best for our team, we need the Steeler monkey off our back. We need to get it done this year!

I see all those additions as luxury right now.

The fans don't seem to high on our secondary, but the Ravens really like the guys we got there. Webb is only getting better, Carr did a really strong job last year, Foxworth played really well the second half of the 09 season. Even though he's coming off an injury, he should be fine, because Webb and Washington, were in the same situations last season and didn't have an issue. Jimmy Smith has the potential to be a shutdown CB from day 1. Will he do it or not, we don't know.

At WR, I personally don't think the Ravens wanna go into the season relying on so many young guys at that position, but they'll be prepared to. I can see us adding another WR, but it'll either be Mason or Floyd. I think Edwards is looking for too much money. He'll go somewhere and get a nice pay day and no we don't still have housh.

As for DE. I really think the Ravens like where they are at that position. I think if and when we look to upgrade the pass rush, it'll be from the OLB position not the DE.

Cromartie resigned with the jets, Cullen Jenkins signed with the Eagles. We dont really need another CB imo. Braylon Edwards would be too much money, who knows if Housh would even wanna come back here, after the way we used him. BUT i would love to have Mason back.

EDIT: Sorry didnt even respond to you about Zach Miller. no, i dont think we need him. We have Dickson and Pitta, two very capable TE's that can catch the ball. Like someone else said, i think we would just sign a low-price blocking TE if anything.
