Question: Can a TE help the RT block on the line? Such as heap had a huge part doing at times...? Could this (if possible) aid to Reid's inexperience ?
Yes. If the team believes that Reid will be the starter come week 1. Then re-signing Heap makes a lot more sense. Because Reid will need help from the TE. Heap knows the blocking schemes and has become a pretty good blocker.

We could always bring in another blocking TE. But we wouldn't be able to do it necessarily with Dickson/Pitta. Heap would make a ton of sense.

I dont base my season around the steelers

Unfortunately they have ended ours twice in the last 3 years.

Look if we don't beat the steelers week 1... I will be unset. I will get over it like anyone else, but how is a team ever going to win a SB if they can't beat the steelers with Ben starting.

I don't think for one moment that the players (especially the vets) look at that matchup in Week 1 and think: "What a way to get our season started with a bang". They won't be scared or frightened or anything like that. They have the upper hand in the recent results but it always comes down to a couple of plays which decide the game.

Also, look at the Steelers right now. Their O-line is a mess. Their secondary is not really any better than it was last year. I think that we have a good chance, like we always do.

Anyone kinda wish that we didnt have to play the Stealers til maybe week 3, so maybe our rooks would have a bit more exp. and to see where our players stand.

I just feel if we lose against the Stealers week 1, it would be a big blow to the confidence of the players.

I personally am not feeling as confident right now but hey who knows , its still early and we have time. I just dont think i can deal with another loss against the Stealers on the first game of the season.

The good thing is we do have home field advantage.

naw bruh! just seems like YOU are the one that is scared of the steelers in week 1. to me..that is THE BEST TIME to jump on those cats! EVERY team has gone through the same thing this off season with this lock-out. we're back now! and the Ravens will be ready to silence those loud mouths in pittsburg.

stop being scared and have confidence in your squad. :th_snapoutofit:

I kinda wish Ozzie had'nt not signed a single free agent. How do the eagles have cap room to sign the entire NFL, and we can only afford to sign Carr, McClain and cousins.

Well they unloaded Kolb and McNabb. Maclin is still on a second round rookie contract, he's set to make 650k. DeSean is making 565k this year (something he plans on holding out for). McCoy is still on a rookie contract. Mikel left and signed with the Rams.

Their biggest salary cap payees are M Vick, Samuel (who they will either trade or cut), Peters and Cole (4M).

In comparison Ravens have 7 guys making over 4M base salary in 2011. Ofcourse the cap hits are different than the base salaries. At the beginning of FA, the Eagles' total base salaries was less than ours.

Ofcourse these numbers are ever changing. Don't hold me to anything I said above. Just some observations. Two different teams with two different money situations. My link

We had them beat three times last year, the only problem was in the last two we couldn't maintain our advantages and let the games slip away.

I like the fact that the young guys are gonna get broke in early. This is a team that they are going to play alot so they might as well get use to it.

I'm glad we play the Steelers week 1. It will be a great introduction for the young guys who play, Jimmy Smith, maybe Torrey Smith, Jah Reid, Sergio Kindle, etc. The Steelers are always our toughest opponent for so many reasons. If I was a rookie, I'd kill for the chance to start out of the gate against the Steelers and prove that I was worth drafting. Besides, if Cam has ANYTHING new at all, by his usual m.o. he'll have worn it out by the second or third game. Might as well strike with as much of an element of surprise as we can.
