Also dont understand why we are spending our limited cap room on bringing guys like Cousins back.
[/quote]

Agreed, hes done nothing but gotten beaten and drawn penalties. Maybe we will place him on Guard duty when Yanda is taking a breather

look at the other end of spectrum if we go out week one and kick the squealers in the balls then its going to be a huge boost for us. id rather start the the season with a bang then with a whimper.

also Jah Reid is an animal he will do fine, and if he falls over no worries, the guy is so big he will create a hole the size of a mac truck for ray to run through.

Then you really haven't been paying much attention.

This. Improving our O-line, drafting speed and explosive players at WR, and a revamped secondary wont help us beat the Steelers?

If our players have the same mentality as you then we're screwed. But I know they're itching to play the Steelers in week 1!! All Training Camp, all Preseason, they know they got the Steelers to kick off the season. AT HOME!! I personally wouldn't want it any other way. And I bet the players wouldn't either. And if they do? Then they're not a true Raven!

Why are we worried about our O-line? Ours is golden next to the Steelers' shoddy line. If anything we're more in position to win this game than either of our vs-Roethlisberger games last year. Faster receivers, deeper CB roster, healthy veteran players. Remember, during the playoffs the Steelers had the luxury of an extra week off while the Ravens came in banged up.

The season should be based around beating the Steelers because we need to finally win the division and get a home playoff game, who usually stands in our way the Steelers....lol

But all this what if this what if that nonsense is uncalled for....
-- the only legit claim about wishing the Steelers wasn't week 1 is that when Steelers and Ravens play people get hurt, people get battered and bruised... So either team could easily suffer a let down in the next week

Anyone kinda wish that we didnt have to play the Stealers til maybe week 3, so maybe our rooks would have a bit more exp. and to see where our players stand.

I just feel if we lose against the Stealers week 1, it would be a big blow to the confidence of the players.

I personally am not feeling as confident right now but hey who knows , its still early and we have time. I just dont think i can deal with another loss against the Stealers on the first game of the season.

The good thing is we do have home field advantage.

i think its a good thing and i would not underestimate jah reid all the ravens staff is very high in regard of him. and with fox being back and drafting jimmy smith i see a steelers pounding coming.the little brother finnaly got bigger than the big brother and know its payback time.not to mention more pass rush with sergio

Only time i'll worry about steelers in playoffs this season. Because even if they beat us week 1, were still definetly winning the division

I understand what you're saying here. You want to make sure we're at our absolute best by the time we play the Steelers, and you'd rather our rookies have some game experience under their belts before we play them to ensure success. With that said, I don't think it really will make that big of a deal. We will have all of August to prepare for them, and the skill-set of our rookies can catch the Steelers off guard as well. We'll be fine. I'm expecting us to sweep the Steelers this season. Mark it down.

I have all the faith in the world on Jimmy starting against the steelers. He was the most impressive cover corner in the draft.

As for jah reid, I haven't seen much of him but its sounding like he's impressing

I think it's good for them to have something to work towards. Knowing they will face the Steelers week 1 could make them prepare extra hard this offseason to be ready for a game that will be heavily scrutinized. Plus, they know that if they aren't really ready, they won't play against Pittsburgh. If Jah Reid doesn't look like a starting tackle, I'm sure Harbaugh would rather put in Cousins at RT week 1. It'll show us where our rookies are at.

Some experience for the rookies would be nice, but the way I see it the Steelers rookies won't have experience as well so it should be semi evened out.

No better opponent to start off against, as I see it. It will be a good measuring stick of how we'll fare without some of our former guys.
Btw, what is the deal with "Stealers". It's the SteElers. I don't understand.

Its just a nickname some like to call them. They intentional mean to misspell it. Just like some call the Bengals the 'Bungles'.

Don't know. Never has been my cup of tea. I'll call teams adjectives, but always respect the team's name.

Guess it goes back to childish ways. Like when kids in elementary school call the kid with big ears, 'Dumbo'. Maybe some sort of defense mechanism. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it, lol.

The Ravens have to make sure that they don't let the refs decide the game. Win and win big.

Well to that point... the refs are definitely going to have a close eye on Harrison... that could play to our favor.

If we walk out of week 1 without anymore Flacco sack highlights for NFL Network I'm going to consider it a win. All they show from the Ravens is Flacco getting sacked.

I just hope that if Jah Reid starts, he doesn't get destroyed. The steelers are probably going to abuse our right tackle, especially with the lockout and inability to communicate with the team for the last couple weeks.

Losing Week 1 at Home to the Steelers and Big Ben again would really hurt this team... we MUST find a way to finally beat Ben under Coach Harbs. Right now, I don't think we have the personnel to do it on either side of the ball. I'm worried, but it's still very early...

I know this sounds dumb, but I think the first preseason game vs the Eagles is a good game for us... for preseason opener. The Eagles are STACKED. I know its just preseason, I know. But I think thats a great measuring rod for the organization, coaches, and us fans. They have depth, and so do we so it should be at least a semi-entertaining game!

Question: Can a TE help the RT block on the line? Such as heap had a huge part doing at times...? Could this (if possible) aid to Reid's inexperience ?

Cousins is probably a back-up for depth.

He fits the part by looking like a tackle, but his mentality is weak.

His main problem is that he hesitates and freezes in pressure situation. He just needs more reps and needs to get adjusted to pressure. He has all the tools to be a good tackle, just need to get his mindset straight.

TE often line up near the RT. They can provide help wherever the play dictates though.
