We've seen this story every single year of the Offseason Champions failing to win the Super Bowl. It always, always happens, without fail. This isn't the days of the 49ers and Cowboys reloading with high-powered free agents and battling every year.

There are football players that never got drafted who are just as good as current NFL stars, they just weren't in the right place at the right time to get noticed by scouts. There are players in the NFL who are just as good as those high paid stars (if given the chance to prove themselves). In today's NFL you can't build a team with all stars and have a guarantee to be champions as the "regular players" take down these "super teams" all the time... Jerry Jones can vouch for this...

Setting themselves up to be the "Miami Heat" of football...with similar results.

Their acquisitions seem intelligent in the framework of salary cap and team needs. They've addressed the poor secondary play and the D-line, developed Vick into a potent weapon and picked up a good backup QB for next to nothing all without mortgaging the future. They'll win some games and can easily win that division, but this aint no powerhouse. The Vince Lombardi trophy, right or wrong, should be a measure of that...and you should at least have "one" to merit powerhouse status.

IIRC they reached the maximum number of prime time games (6) last season because so many people wanted to watch and the NFL drew huge ratings and got some classic games last season. Now this year with all the new smart additions by the Eagles I would not be surprised to see the NFL market them even more.

They are a fun team to watch and especially play on Madden. Even online where everyone uses them it's a fun challenge to stop Mike Vick. This whole "Miami Heat" and "Dream Team" is just being blown up the media. All the Eagles did was sign free agents who did not "collude" to play there and some even took less money for the shot to win a championship. You make a comparison of having a stacked team and apparently you're just like the Heat even though I didn't see Asomugha's "The Decision" or the Eagles throwing a pre-championship celebration.

That 1st pre-season game will be very interesting to watch for the first couple series.
