I am glad we signed Chris Carr over Josh Wilson. He was the more consistent tacklers and corner for us last year. I assure you the coaching staff heaved a sigh of relief at his signing. Believe me if Carr wasn't really good Rex Ryan wouldn't want him so badly.

I remember Josh Wilson stepping up to guard the other teams' best receivers. I don't remember Chris Carr doing that...
Hahahaha, guess you don't remember much then, because that's exactly what Carr did at the end of the season. He was playing like our best corner, that's why he got interest from the Jets and other teams. Honestly, I wanted Carr just as much as I wanted Wilson, and when you consider Carr's rate of improvement over the past couple of years...well, you're just a negative person.

So does this mean that there's a possibility that Foxworth might get cut? Carr has stated that he wants to be a starter, and I'd like to give Webb more time since he might be the starter in a year or two with Jimmy. So what do we do, because Webb and Carr are too talented to be the 3rd and 4th DB's.

Ah, good news. I'm thinking he starts the season with Foxworth (if he's not cut) while Jimmy Smith is third string. Smith will still see a lot of time, though, teams love to run 3-WR packages and the Ravens might run more nickel. I think #22 will be starting by years end.

Keep in mind that another bonus with Carr is that he can also play Safety. Over the course of a season, injuries could cause us to reshuffle the DBs. His versatility is a real good thing.

Why would we cut Foxworth? I think we're done getting rid of starters.

Good things to hear. Carr played well last year, adds depth and veteran savvy and wants to be in Baltimore. Glad to have him back.

I think it's because of his contract. I think a lot of us on here would like to see him restructure his contract so we can have more cap space.

Cap space. He's making an inordinate amount of money. I'm not sure how much it would save us in actual cap space but it's a possibility. I don't think it will happen.

Low key move, that gives us tremendous value.

So the Ravens wanted to keep Yanda, re-sign Ngata and retain one of Wilson or Carr.

Yanda is here, Carr is here and Ngata contract talks will start around Tuesday. Sounds like Ozzie has a plan and he's working it.

Also, reports are that the Ravens did offer Kelly Gregg a contract but he decided to move on. So it looks like the Ravens have intentions on bring back Mason and Heap.

I hope those that lost faith in Ozzie, is starting to believe again.

Ozzie will continue to play the Tourist, and make solid smart moves, while everyone else can play the Hares spending big money and shopping for big names.

He got punked by Roddy White on a blatant OPI call. Can't change the past, but Wilson had him covered.

Can anyone tell me how many times did Webb get burned last year I think him & J Smith could be an awesome DUO
The one that sticks out in my mind is him trying to outrun Mike Wallace. Obviously he learned from that though. Mistakes happen, and I'm sure he's learning from them.

Dont know this for sure as im not one to pay too much attention to how the cap works and all but I believe cutting him would only save like 1.5-2.0 million in cap space. I do agree he is making too much money but I would rather keep him for depth or whatever then lose him and free up 2 million in cap space.

Now that may be way off some others around here are way better with the cap intricacies.

Renegotiating makes sense, but to cut him entirely is too risky. We can't lose him and have our 4th corner be who? Cary Williams? I don't think so (even though I'd like to see what he can do as a nickel or dime back)

(Also replying to you, Token, since you had pretty much the same response)

I've heard anywhere from $1.4M-$4.4M, don't know what to believe. As hawkprey said, re-negotiating makes more sense - Foxworth probably knows he won't get any where close to that much somewhere else.

See above. Also, Cary Williams is so forgotten in many ways. There's potential there but he's just buried under a deep cornerback crew.

Great news. I was a little surprised it was a 4-year deal, but I'm very pleased to have him back all the same. I know a lot of people have complained about a lack of FA activity but to retain Yanda and Carr was to retain two of the Ravens top 2010 performers. Locking up Ngata, adding a pass-rusher of some kind, and signing another insurance policy player on the O-line and FA will be a success in my mind.

Well I have to think Cary Williams is going to stay as a special teamer. I'm just curious to see him as a slot guy because I think last preseason he was playing as a starter.

Did you watch the AFC championship game last year? The 50+ yard bomb on 4th and forever in the late stages of the 4th quarter was caught over Webb....

That's old news. I believe Webb will turn in one hell of a season this year.

I wanted this all along, even moreso than signing Wilson. Reason being, Carr is so versitile, and his gamehas improved greatly since he first stepped foot in Bmore. People wanna talk smack about Carr not being that good.... if im correct, he lead/tied the TEAM lead in FF, and I believe he was second in PD. Im excited about our CB's, Foxy, Smith, Webb, Carr, Williams, Brown.... hell, i'm good with that.

Yea and again, I was neva completely sold on Wilson to begin with and I felt people on here overratted Wilson dearly ( its quite possible the FO felt the same way ). I mean, I would have made a true assesment of him playing a full year here but we will see how good he is playing with his current team.

Maybe it took good coaching to to get him to his level of play. I commend our coaching staff for turning Carr into someone I strongly disliked covering a receiver to That Guy I want to see on the field every down. I hope his improvements carry on to this year!
