I was looking for this comment... I agree, Cam would make Moss angry as hell, and it would get ugly.
why does cam love the reverse/ end around so much? Maybe I should put that question in the flock mailbag!

Plaxico Burress is getting a huge pitch from the Jets. I think they may outbid both the Eagles and Giants.

I hope that brings down the market value for Moss or Jones.

Maybe they can coax Boldin into talking to Moss. He and Fitzgerald made a pitch to Edgerrin James back in 2006.

Boldin also re-tweeted the idea that he would help Terrelle Pryor become a wideout. He also talked in Arizona about enjoying having a guy like Larry across from him, insinuating that they boosted each other's opportunities.

I dont remember the name of the thread but someone put up a detailed analysis of the coryell system that Cam Cam runs and basically its used to help bring the linebackers up closer to the line of scrimmage so there is more room to pass in the middle of the field. The entire post was VERY worthy of a read if you can find it.

Maybe because he got chewed up and spat out, again, by the media. Like when he was playing for the raiders and got traded for only a 4th rounder to the pats. He'll have a chip on his schoulder to prove people that he can still play. Just like when he went to the pats.

I think that is what he was trying to say. I could be wrong tho.
I thought he would have had a chip on his shoulder after two teams(one that was going nowhere) kicked him to the curb last season. But he still did nothing with the Titans. This is obviously a better situation, but I'd rather not see an aging WR whose flaky emotions affect his play brought in.

Moss could work here, but I think his lack of production last year was just as due to age then to lack of motivation. He had reason to be motivated in Minnesota, he was back in front of an adoring crowd and he still just gave up on the ball. I want the Ravens to bring in guys who are high in character and ALWAYS give 100% effort. Moss is neither of those things. If we for some reason do end up signing Moss, I will support the move and look for the gold-lining, but I will not have high expectations.

When has Moss been unmotivated? Back in the day when he played for a horrid OAK team? This past season when all he wanted was a contract extension from NE, then had to play for three different teams?Needless to say, we are not Oakland, he would be coming to an elite team with a terrific QB who would be a perfect pairing for Moss. So we dont have to worry about that. And at this point, Moss realizes that whatever team signs him is only going to give him a one year deal for now, it's not like we have to worry about him interviewing himself in order to get a long term deal done.I mean good lord, all I've heard all week is how we just HAVE to add an experienced WR to help groom our rookies. Here we have the guy who is either the best or second best WR to ever play the game. And at 6'4" with a great vertical and hands, he doesn't need to still run a 4.2 to do major damage.

What makes you think Randy is motivated?
So you didn't see him being traded twice in a NFL season? So I am asking would you be motivated after last season of being traded twice in an NFL season?

Did you see what he did in Tennessee?

We're not talking about me. We're talking about Moss, a guy who's shown obvious disinterest many times before.

Everyone says they want Randy, but I don't want us to be the team "that gives him the big contract money" and for all we know, he might just want that. I would have no problem having him in our system however, I'd want a 2 year max contract with him and he'd need to start no doubt. Randy would make Joe better as long as Randy's serious about this. It's a big deal that a receiver of his caliber is on the market. I'm sure he's received several calls.

T.O on the other hand I would love to have. Just a one year deal though. The problem is that he occasionally drops those big passes and that he wants to get 1,000+ yards a year and I don't feel like he would get that here. He would have no problem signing a cheap contract and as much as these players (LT, I'm referring to you) instantly want to go to the team who just got to the conference finals, I think T.O would look past us barely messing the Steelers up. The one thing I praise about T.O is that he runs the offense and will tell teams what he's going to do. That's why his stats were good in every place, he's still got it! Carson bought into T.O I mean, for T.O to come in and be the top receiver is pretty good I think we can all agree on that. Oh and if Cam didn't like T.O, there would be nothing he could do about it. T.O is a leader in a sense, he would walk on him to say the least.

the move would help flacco a lot, but if the money isn't there don't risk it. i remember a couple years ago we signed kelley washington late in free agency and he ended up being in my opinion the most productive receiver. so we still have time

I think Moss' time has already come and gone, at this point I don't know why he still plays the game, money I suppose.
However, it would be interesting to see how Moss acts around such players as Boldin and Ray Lewis, maybe he would play hard his last few years...
Say we get Mason back, i can't see those two seeing eye to eye.
I just don't see it being a good fit, but if it happens, and I end up eating my words because he does a great job, only then would I see it as a good fit.
I'm not at all knocking Moss' career, I just don't think he has much left.

One problem with bringing Moss in is that our WR core would be overloaded:

Boldin
Moss
Torrey
Hardy
Doss
D. Reed
M. Smith
Harper

We just resigned M. Smith, so unless he has a dreadful preseason or doesn't perform well on ST, I don't see him getting cut out. Reed, we all know what he can do in the kick return game. The TD he got at Houston last season, I think it's only him getting started. I also that noticed he gave us much better field position for the most part than Parmele.

Harper would have to go barring a miracle in the preseason/TC, but still that's 8 down to 7. Too much?

The only thing that's overloaded about our receiving corps. is the lack of experience.

Did anyone see the Pats vs Vikes game last year? Did you see Randy's performance? Did anyone notice that the Vikes got rid of him after!?

I'd rather role the dice with Torrey, Tandon, and Hardy, but thats just me.
So would I. They all bring different skill-sets and can grow with Joe over the long haul.

I wouldn't be too joyous if we decided to make a move but I don't see a reason to hate it. If he comes here motivated and trying to prove himself after a down season then it will be great for us because he would be a great compliment to Boldin.

You can't throw smith and Doss into the 2 and 3 spots right away. Sign a veteran guy. Have them battle it out for the 3 in camp/preseason. Then When one or both of them are ready, move on from the Veteran(Randy Moss)

U people would rather go with a bunch of newbs than Randy Moss? Even half motivated he'd be better than a group of guys with a couple catches between. The Ravens are DESPERATE. One month of camp and rookies as your #2 & #3 Wr? Bump that

Yeah, but that's the problem right there: the long haul. This year is more important to me and hopefully to Bisciotti, Newsome, Harbaugh and Flacco.

Last year in the playoffs, Deion Branch made a crucial drop and there were a lot of coverage sacks for the Pats. What did they do? They went out and got Chad Ochocinco.

There are lots of guys near Ochocinco's caliber available. I could see the Ravens steamrolling into the playoffs but when they need someone with the vet savvy and them vet moves to spring open on a fourth down, the young guys will let them down.

Yeah, I agree. I shudder to think of what the offense would look like against PIT opening day or even NYJ with Boldin along with a few rookies, Dickson as starter and James Hardy. I'm not taking shots at them, I have a feeling that by week 9 when we play the Steelers again, they'd be in full sync. I have plenty of confidence that most of the guys in our corps will pan out. But they aren't ready just yet, and having Moss could only help.

Why not? Neither of them are even going to be the first options anyway. That moment that either of them are "ready" can't necessarily be quantified either. If they're getting a lot of snaps, they can get acclimated to the game quicker.

Desperate? We have an established vet and a group of rookies with plenty of potential. Even if we chose to go with that group, they could all grow to be the best they can be while gaining connections with Flacco and learning from Boldin. I would love the Ravens to add another vet, but I wouldn't upset if they went with this group either because it is a good core of receivers.

I want Dominque Cromartie to join and fool Andy Reid into thinking that a third round with Torrey Smith is a good deal. It would work because Andy is trying to blow up the team and from what I understand, people think Jason Avant sucks. I haven't seen Torrey yet, but I just don't feel confident in him plus we've done nothing with training WR's under John. I'm not trying to throw Torrey under the bus, this isn't meant to be personal.
