Harbs Said It - Cody Starting Nt

82 posts in this topic

ok we know Ngata - Mt Cody- ??? for our line on D. now my question is cody announced as our starter , last year Gregg Stated Cody can do it . with that endorsement for a veteran who is now off the team Can we take it to the bank Cody will make backs like benson and mendenhaull and hillis think 2 times about going up the gut?

Of Course, after incumbent Kelly Gregg was released. Cody is getting a lot of valuable reps, so he should be fine.

Link please? And that's expected. It's what Cody was drafted to do, dropping Gregg only ensured it.

Cody certainly has the size to play NT, and we saw him start to progress towards the end of the season. I see no reason why he can't handle the job as long as he stays healthy. By all accounts he kept the weight down and is in good shape, if that keeps up he should be ok. Between him and Ngata there's a lot of beef on our DL. It's not like Gregg was exceptional.

Around the 5:20 mark. Sounds like his conditioning is legit, Harbaugh sounded decently impressed.

Nice way to get some youth on the field. Cody really helped changed the pace for us in the KC game when he caused that fumbled on Charles. Dude was straight GASHING us beforehand (made me tear up with frustration i'll admit :P). hopefully we find some other "young babies" (as Lewis likes to call them) to step up.

Its expected his natural talent and pedigree vastly outweighs any other NT we have on the roster, its why he was drafted. I cant wait personally for Cody to step in and have a true 34 NT. Cody and Kindle are the guys im most looking forward to...obviously

Yeah I had a feeling this was coming when we released Gregg. I think the Front Office is starting to realize that it's time to let our young players play instead of them sitting on the bench.

I remember Cody squashing Charles, I can't wait to see him do that to Mendenhall and every other RB we face this season. It would be awesome if he squashed Big Ben the same way he did Charles.

Agreed. The second time we played them he only got 35 yards on 12 carries.

MOUNT CODY will beast this year, mark my words
i don't see why not, he could've easily been a top 15 pick if he were in better shape going into the draft. i'm so happy the front office took a chance on him

I can't wait to see Mount Ngata Chance swallow rbs alive. When we wear all black it'll be like running into a black hole. Not even light can escape..

I agree with him. I mean, if he follows up with some more years of his production which is an average production for any decent RB ( like 1200 yds ), I will take the overrated label off of him but with how good the Browns O-Line is and the holes they created last year.......

I don't ever wish injury or harm or anyone, but if Cody did that to Ben in week 1, I think i would cheer louder then any TD thrown, or INT, or even the win.

I probably would just bookmark that part of the game, and play it over and over and over and over, just like I did when Bart Scott creamed Ben.

First let me start this by saying, I love Buddy Lee and hope that he can at least come back as a backup/mention and get a ring with us this year.

However with that said, I strongly feel that Cody and McKinney will be such an upgrade over what we've had a NT for the last couple year.

You team those to big guys up with Ngata against run heavy teams and the LBs will just run around and make plays.

What I'm about to say will probably make many people look at me funny, but Cody will bring a much more explosive presence at the NT position.

Because he's so big, people tend to overlook the fact that Cody is very athletic. He's has a great first step for a guy his size. Cody will start to command double teams in the middle of the defense and it'll free up so many others.

The reports are that Pagano wants more movement upfront with the Dline. Well if that's the case, people will start to see just how athletic Cody really is.

Again, nothing too surprising here if he has been declared the starter. He was drafted to be it eventually anyway. Gabefergy is right, it will mostly be Cody and McKinney there this season and since McKinney is temporarily on the PUP, why wouldn't Cody be our starter at NT?
