Torrey

I've been hearing reports out of Owings Mills that Tandon Doss is looking like an absolute stud and impressing a ton more than Torrey Smith apparently.

I havn't read anything that states that, but im not suprised. I think Smith with start off the season with more snaps than Doss, but by the end of the season we will have seen a good amount of Doss.

I think Doss could be a third down stud.

I heard it on the fan. exact quote. "Tandon Doss Is looking Extremely Good. Torrey Smith not so much."

Isn't torrey being covered by Jimmy Smith?

EDIT: Actually come to think of it this was probably after day 1, when torrey was cramping.

How many days of practice have we had? I think Doss has a better shot of panning out because he has better hands, but we know nothing about these guys at this point. I'd like to wait until at least the pre-season is over before making any definitive judgments one way or the other.

The fact of the matter is we need both to pan out. I have high hopes for both Doss and Torrey.

You can improve hands, Doss actually had bad hands early in his career in college.

not surprising. A lot of people, including myself, feel that Doss will become a better player than Torrey. At the very least, I expect him to perform better as a rookie; he is much more polished than Torrey.

But Torrey's potential is off the charts. If he fulfills it.

Tandon is going to get more yards because he's a big pass catching short-mid route who can use his body to make catches downfield.

Torrey's more of a YPC guy for now.

actually I think Torrey will have more yards, simply because he is going to get every opportunity in the world. The staff understandably loves this guy.

I think Torrey is going to be either the next Bernard Berrian or the next Ochocinco. Dont really see any middle ground with him.

Doss I think should become a TJ Housh kinda guy. Great hands, good route runner, very reliable, just not elite.

This season sure, but underneath guys tend to get yards and targets, since the get open more. People rarely get 1,000 yards running deep routes.

They said he's not practicing today due to "bumps and bruises" on 1057 the fan. James Hardy and Jimmy Smith are both out too.

I bashed the heck out of this kid. And that was before we even drafted him. When I found out we drafted him; well my extensive arsenal of expletives was exhausted by the time that tirade was over. In fact, I called up my meth head neighbor to advise me on new colorful ways to express my thoughts.

Can't lie though. I can't help but love everything about this kid's personality. From the way he defended Jimmy against those 'character concerns', his humble outlook, and most of all his enthusiasm and dedication to his craft, he has all the traits of a winner.

And I was delighted to hear that he beat Jimmy and Foxy in one on one drills today.

Of course, it was just one day, in shorts no less, but still a promising sign.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm ready to man up and smile while you throw tomatoes at me if he pans out.

But I swear to god, if he turns out to be another Clayton...lol, whatever, I'll still like him.
[/quote]

I have to agree with you on that, although i didnt really bash him too much, i just wasnt really impressed and thought there was better picks to be made. I was more worried about him being a body catcher but from what i saw, dude has some hands and he will go up for the jump ball which i love. Im actually really excited with him and Doss, i heard he has sticky hands like white on rice when it comes to ball and hands. That was Flaccos pick so you know he is going to want to throw to him. I dont want us to sign a vet WR unless its Mason. Im starting to feel confident that our Rooks can get it done, mind you we still have Q, D. Reed, Marcus Smith. They do know the playbook.

All i know is i just want to Slaughter the Stealers, not just beat them. My dream for the first game season opener is a shut out. Now that would be a statement wouldnt it.

I think Torrey isn't happy with himself, either.

http://twitter.com/#!/torreysmithWR
From his twitter feed 21 hours ago: "I'm not tweeting anymore until I'm where I want to be football wise...talk to y'all in a couple of weeks."

I heard some what different on the fan, actually it was last night , i dont know the host name but the guy isnt afraid to argue and tell you what he thinks thats for sure. The dude said he is impressed with Torrey because he really wasnt a fan of him when we drafted him and he said Doss was what he expected, good hands and reliable.

Yep, he seems very down to earth. I've heard him do radio interviews; he seems a bit shy, actually.

I love that none of our WRs have diva complexes.

What happened to Torrey that he's not practicing today? The only injury I heard about was The Jimmy tweaked his groin.

Tandon Doss is still impressing people apparently. Apparently he hasn't dropped a pass during camp.

I think Torrey is a guy who is dedicated to his craft. That maybe why the Ravens coveted him so much. I think if Torrey turns out to be a bust it will not be for lack of effort. He just seems like a humble kid who will work on improving his game and continue to improve. If that turns out to be the case, then I will be happy with him.

I saw someone tweet that it was an undisclosed injury.

Oh, Hensley said that it was undisclosed, not an undisclosed injury. Misread the tweet, sorry if I worried anyone lol

Odd way to put it but Torrey seems like a week 8 guy. Someone who picks up in the later half of the year.

I was really high on Torrey from watching the Terps play. He is the real deal. As for Clayton, at least he stuck with the team for a couple of years unlike some of the other WR bums that we drafted.
