i think your reading comprehension is ridiculous. I said I like him, the person.

Catching with his hands is the one thing that Torrey Smith needs to work on. Obviously his route running needs to be improved, but that's a problem for a lot of rookie WRs who used their speed as their big weapon in college. Smith has speed and agility, and those are two things that you really can't teach. I fully expect him to be the Ravens' number 2 receiver.

How did Torrey do today?
He looks like the front runner in the battle for the James Smith. However, in a real game, no QB would throw the ball to Torrey because of the tight coverage Jimmy is giving.

Remember these one on one battles, Flacco has all day to throw the ball.

I was watching the 2 minute drill video that was posted today and noticed Torrey was making some nice catches with his hands during the 7 on 7s.
That's a good sign.

take notes everyone: that's how you give feedback.

That is pretty much what I wanted to hear - whether he was shaking off The Jimmy or not.

And this also confirms my fears that stem from college. He is a crappy route runner. Granted, The Jimmy is a WR worst nightmare, but in a game, if you cant break loose within 3 or so seconds, you are out of the play.

it is a good sign. That at least eases the fear a lot of people had about his body catching.

Where's ATD? I wonder if his opinion has changed yet lol.
I never had an issue with Torrey personality wise or work ethic wise. Whether I said it or not (because I can't remember), I've always thought highly of him in that regard. However, I did not think he is the deep threat he was portrayed as pre-draft wise. Always struck me as a faster underneath, yards after the catch kind of guy. I'm just not sure his track speed will translate onto the field. Personality, work ethic and intelligence wise, I've always like the guy.

However, I'm not going to change my mind on his game time performance until after I see him play. I think that's reasonable. I do hope I'm wrong about him though.

I love all of the training camp love, I remember last year hearing how explosive David Reed was and how he snatched the ball out of the air during training camp. Then the season started...........

He probably would've had a chance to prove himself if we hadn't signed housh.

I think Torrey's early impression is going to lead him to a big role.

James Hardy hasn't been talked a lot about.

If that is the case, Hardy is going to have a hard time trying to beat Torrey for a job.

You could've then made the thread after Torrey defended Jimmy, which was sometime in late April

But you make this thread after hearing about how well he's done in practice, it's not my reading comprehension bud, it's more like inference

'inference'? That's a big word for someone who has so much trouble comprehending what he reads.

My apologies if I'm not warming up to Torrey fast enough for your liking. But if you want to make something out of nothing, go right ahead. I'm not playing your games.

then the season started, and by the end of the year, he emerged as the most explosive kick returner we've had in years. Great point.

Welcome to the party boat. I wasn't high on him before we drafted him, but he grew on me really quick (seriously like 3 minutes after we drafted him).

Now we just have to hope that we use him on more than just reverses. *Staring down Cam Cameron*

Don't forget about those stinkin' end-arounds too!

Yeah I agree with you on that. Like I said, time will tell us how much success he can enjoy on the field. It's always nice to have such a good person on the team. You know he's not going to get caught up in any legal drama or other such distractions.

The sky is the limit for him simply due to how hard he works and his desire to do everything he can to help the team succeed. He's already started off on the right foot, but it's only practice. He'll have to show he can do it come game time.

This is one of the first years that I am actually really excited about watching pre-season games... can't wait to see Torrey in action.

I have had the same view on torrey smith since before draft. Huge mistake in the 1st round, over the moon in the 2nd.

I think a lot of people were hard on him because he was popularly mocked to us in the first, but was clearly not a 1st round talent. That being said, he is certainly what we're looking for and I'm proud he's a raven.

For a late 2nd, his value was great for us. His potential was high, but not worth taking over Jimmy Smith, who is considered top 10 talent. Torrey Smith is already looking the part for a great future.

From what little I've seen from him, he looks better than what I expected.
