Nothing is guaranteed to keep this monster with us forever until his long term contracted is finalized. I'm so anxious to see Ngata's new contract so I can relax for awhile....

We need to sign some players to fill voids at important positions (i.e Center, Tackle, Linebacker (pass rusher) ) however with the signing of Haloti taking so long, quality players are becoming scarce. We really need to get this guys hand on a pen, and put it to some paper, so we can make a bid at Shaun O'hara. O'hara is playing his best football now, as he's been to the pro bowl in his last 3 seasons. I don't think Birk will make it through the season, we need to bite the bullet and sign a center. It all starts on the O line, we can have as much talent as we want at skilled positions but without blocking, we aren't going anywhere.

I still remember Birk hiking the ball into Flacco's leg in the final playoff game. Ngata can line up anywhere and do amazing things. Now he's lost some weight he will be hard to stop.

You mean into his own leg. Into Flacco's leg would have been a true sight :) and a really poor snap.

Well Im sure they can figure out what Ngata is worth, lets not wait too long because when Suh gets another deal the Lions are going to pay him a fortune and Im sure Ngata will want that kind of money.

Ngata isnt getting the Haynesworth deal that was ludicrous by Washington.

Sign Ngata to a 5 or 5yr deak with about $60 million with some guarantees or something

Im just trying numbers out thre, idk what he's going to make

Is there anything more on Haloti's contract?
My wife has asked me to get her a Ngata jersey since she will be retiring her Heap jersey.
And I really hate to shell out $100 to find out Haloti will be leaving the team next year. :(

Ngata will be on this team next year and for many years to come. Don't shy away from the Jersey.

Nothing new on the contract front. But they are working on it. The Ravens are not one to rush a deal just so it can be done. Both sides want to make sure their getting good deals.

I think simply that fat contracts take time?
[/quote]
I'd like to know then how the Steelers got Woodley's contract done so fast. I realize that Ngata's deal will be larger but Woodley is a young and talented pass rusher and his deal got done rather quickly.

I really hate the Redskins and that insane contract they gave Haynesworth. I bet that's what is holding this thing up. Because one stupid team gave out one stupid contract every team from now on will have to keep matching or surpassing that ridiculous contract.

Perfect case in point. Steelers desperately needed to get the deal done because they were over the cap. Woodley's agent had all the leverage. Woodley is now the 2nd highest paid Steeler in history. (Not saying he shouldn't be) But I'm sure if given time, the Steelers could have gotten a better deal with Woodley.

If we go to Ngata's agent and say "We need to get this done ASAP". Ngata's agent will be like, "we can do that, pay us X amount and we'll get it done." Contracts are leverage games. Ravens are willing to spend TIME negotiating a deal that works best for both sides. Just like they did with Sizzle.

As for Haynesworth, the value of his contract does not hold much merit because of the output. If Haynesworth played up to his contract, then the bar would've been set. But it wasn't, which was a great thing for the Ravens. Technically it can be argued that Hayneworth gave the teams leverage.

He's holding out for more money because he knows we need cap space... someone's gotta budge at some point.

Agreed, I keep looking on here waiting to hear that the deal is done so Ozz can go shopping (must be driving him nuts knowing we need O-line help but having to wait)

Raveninsiders reports that we r 2.8mil under the cap and that signing Nagta would give us another 6 to 7 mil to play with which we already knew. It's good to kno that we still have money to use without signing Nagta right now. We should have around 8 to 10mil to play with when we do sign him. We definitely can sign some O line help with this cap room.

if this is the case we can bring in a solid tackle without the help of ngata's contract. and are you allowed to use the extra 3 mil yet or nah? idk how this all works

But the reverse is also true? Ngata is arguably the best DT in the game period (USA Today thinks so, Jeff Saturday thinks so) and arguably the most valuable Raven on the D, so why not just pay the man and get it over with? Unless Ngata's agent is looking for Haynesworth type money, I don't see what the holdup is.

And as far as Ngata's perspective, he just saw a bunch of long-time Ravens get cut from the team out of the blue (not saying it wasn't necessary though), so I don't know if team loyalty and well-being is a top priority for him at this point.

We will be making Haloti a Raven for life... I have no doubt about that. He is the most dominating DT in the entire league bar none at this time... and he is just entering his prime. Naturally a contract deserving as such will take some time to get done, I do not feel Ozzie feels rushed at all.

Bisciotti optimistic on signing Ngata, but says he's having hard time giving $60 million away: http://t.co/2eUhO6X

To me this is a slap in the face! Bisciotti please go back inside away from the microphones!

Man. I wish i could punch Ngata's agent in the mouth right now. This contract alone is held our chance to get great players in FA.
