My mouth's watering right now:

On 1 play, J Smith got a little too physical. Coach Austin reminded him, "One bump in 1st 5 yards." You can see he's eager/physical/talented

1WinningDrive Baltimore Ravens
Glad u asked. A physical beast, towers over other #Ravens DBs. (more coming) RT @BMoreRaven81: How's j smith looking @1WinningDrive

'Physical beast' That says it all.

Our next shutdown CB. And I'm not like most who uses the term "shutdown" to describe any above average CB.

But does that mean that Torrey is better than expected or Jimmy is not yet in football shape? He just took the field.
The WR is supposed to win the battle in 1v1 vs DB.

If this is any indication (he also won against Foxy), I may have a lot of aplogizing to do in regards to my off season comments about Torrey.

Same here man. If this kid is what Oz says he is, we may not even need our OL to step up for this offense to explode.

Crap, I just remembered who our OC is...

Harbs won't let Cameron derail us this year. At least I hope that's the case...

Seriously, it means nothing. He got beat on two plays in his first day at camp by Torey Smith, someone we hoping that turns out special at that, so what?

With respect to Jimmy, Torrey showed up for the player run practices and probably picked up some good information and pro techniques while Jimmy stayed home.

I was just passing along information, I wasn't saying Jimmy getting "beat" means anything whatsoever lol... it's a non-contact practice.

Sure looks like he has the mold to be the next Nnamdi body type wise, look at those long arms.

Jamison: "After his first NFL practice, #Ravens CB Jimmy Smith said he expects to be a starter in Week 1."
Seeing we let Wilson and Carr walk with Foxworth coming off an before the season ACL tear and with us not signing Aso or any CB possibly, I see him starting too and hopes he start. Forget it, let him get baptized by fire from the beginning so he can be ready at the midway point and when I sa ready, I mean ready to its fullest form, not just ready to start.

I think Jimmy needs to be put in the fire early on and start week 1. Playing CB isn't going to be drastically different in the NFL, so hopefully missing OTAs and such won't hamper his progress this season too much. Still, I don't expect him to be a lockdown corner his first year here. Revis wasn't Revis until the third year of his career, I'm keeping my expectations for Jimmy in check.

Its quite possibly the happiest Ive ever been looking at a dude ......ever!
haha

Jimmy was beaming today is his press conference video after practice, seems like a bright kid, happy to be with the Ravens...I like that he got up late at night and ran a couple miles because he heard the coaches made the players run yesterday

Ok to clear the Jimmy vs Torrey Smith play up just a little bit. Jimmy actually had really good coverage on Torrey.

I think it was a one on one drill. Jimmy's coverage was good enough that in a real game, the ball is probably not even thrown.

However with that said, Flacco threw a great ball and Torrey Smith adjusted to the ball really well to make the over the should catch With His Hands!!!!!

It's only one pass, but for the people who want Joe's anticipation to improve, this is a throw for you. The well used term "If he's even, he's leaving" applies here. Flacco threw the ball before Smith even came open, and that has as much to do with the ball being complete as anything. It was the pass that beat Jimmy, more then anything. Because Flacco throw a prefect pass, Jimmy was still playing the route while the ball was in the air and he turned his head a tad bit too late. If Joe holds the ball a split second more, Jimmy probably gets his long arms in the way.

I think it's safe to say that Joe and Torrey have worked on the 9 route a little bit together over the offseason.

All in all it was a really good play for all involved. Torrey has bragging rights for the moment but I'm sure Jimmy will get his chance again tomorrow.

Here's a quick look at the play. Pay attention to the 1:10 mark of the vid.

Remember folks, these are not padded practices, so don't get too excited yet

Why not?

via @1winningdrive:

You can tell CB Jimmy Smith likes contact. He's fairing better right now in press coverage than off coverage

Exactly what I like to hear.

If it's only a tweak he'll be fine.
Yes, let's hope it's not serious... he'll probably take tomorrow off.

Update on Jimmy's status:
UPDATE: According to a source, Smith’s groin injury will keep him from practicing for a few days. Cornerback Domonique Foxworth said, "Jimmy didn't tear anything. So he'll be fine."
