Clutch Ravens

Kolb's A Cardinal

24 posts in this topic

Head over to NFL.com to see that Kolb has been sent to the Cardinals for DRC and a 2nd round pick.

Day light robbery by the Eagles.

Seriously, teams should've been reluctant to give up a 2nd round pick for him, nevermind that and a talent like Rodgers-Cromartie.

Kolb is the most overrated player I've seen in a LONG time.

Edit: I broke this news before Schefter, go me!

According to Schefter Kolb has signed a 5 year, $63.5 Million dollar deal, 21 Million of which is guaranteed.

What in the jack hell is wrong with the Cardinals??

DRC on one side, Samuel on the other, and you've got a pretty dangerous secondary.

Cardinals acquired QB Kevin Kolb from the Eagles in exchange for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2012 second-round pick.
Kolb will land a five-year, $63 million contract with over $20 million guaranteed to take over as Arizona's much-needed franchise QB. It's a high price to pay in dollars and assets, penance for failing to develop Matt Leinart and wasting a season on Derek Anderson. We would have preferred Kyle Orton for a mid-round pick, but the Cardinals are obviously sold on Kolb as the solution. Though Larry Fitzgerald is now locked in as a top-five fantasy receiver, Kolb will remain a high-end QB2. Minus the Eagles' dynamic weapons, Kolb's upside takes a hit from last summer.

That's a lot of money for a QB that showed limited flashes.

The Cards make it or break it with Kolb.

I can't believe that a 27-year-old who has shown he is nothing more than mediocre in limited reps is worth that.

Ken Wisenhunt's fate is now tied to a back-up QB. That's a lot to give up for a guy who really hasn't been impressive at all in his 4 years. The Eagles got a steal.

They did it for Larry. Wouldn't you?
Stake my future on a guy who, in my opinion, is nothing more than a seviceable/high end back-up?

No, no player could convince me to stake so much on a guy of Kolb's (lack of) talent.

Well it was either that or Larry walks. He doesn't want to play with a rookie, and you would have to imagine that Kolb offers more than that. I'm not saying that he's anything special, but he does have a lot of potential if he's in the best system.

Kolb does have Fitz, and Andre Johnson is the real reason the Matt Schaub trade worked out. A serviceable QB with the second best receiver in the game could still do a lot of damage. Even with Breaston gone, the Cardinals have a decent stable of weapons. I think it's too soon to judge Kolb yet, but he does have a good opportunity in Arizona.

I wouldn't have made this deal though. Giving up a Pro Bowl corner for an unproven guy like Kolb with a second round pick is paying too much.

Good job Eagles, getting a CB which they needed who isn't half bad and a 2nd round pick. Both sides should be happy about the trade, but damn that's a big contract.

So, the much ballyhooed trade for Kevin Kolb has finally taken place.

I just hope the Eagles have some set plans for their QB situation, and I mean in regard to backing up Michael Vick.

Does anyone hear "Kevin Kolb" and still think of 2nd-and-inches?
I remember that play, but I had honestly forgotten Kolb threw the pass.

This will probably be one of the biggest mistakes made in FA history. Only time will tell, but I think too much was given up by Arizona to pick this guy up.

The Cardinals FO look foolish making the trade. Then then give him a nice fat contract. In the words of Bill Parcell, "you've been sucked".

Although I will admit Kolb has potential and could succeed with Larry Fitzgerald as his guy, there is still no doubt the Cardinals got hosed. I think DRC for Kolb straight up should have been the limit for them, which is still a steal by the Eagles anyone.

There is really only one thing that truly annoys me about this, Vince Young just got released and not only does he have more potential than Kolb, but he has performed better. He is an average or slightly below average starting QB. You can argue Kolb is better but you can't argue this, VY for a smaller contract is WAY better value than Kolb with his contract for DRC and a 2nd round pick. Personally I hope the Ravens pick up VY as an insurance policy because I still think he has some hope in this league and if anyones starting QB gets injured, or they lose out in trying to find one, they contact us for him and give us some quality picks/players.

As for Kolb, one word. Scrub.
