... and fill the other needs (pass rusher, offensive tackle, fullback and backup quarterback). Looks like a three-team race between the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans."

I figured we wouldn't have the room....especially since we haven't signed Haloti yet.

The Jets will be aggressive no doubt, but I'm hoping he goes to the 48ers...

I'd sure like to know how the Jets are still in the running if we can't come up with enough cap space. I almost hope the Jets overpay for Nnamdi just so I can laugh at how bad other positions on that team will inevitably be since so much cap space is tied up in two players at the same position (Revis and Nnamdi)

After seeing what the Jets were willing to offer ($12 million dollars), I think it's best for the organization to move on and try to get the hidden gems of this free agency.

We need an offensive tackle, so we don't have to depend on rookies.
We need a pass rush because we can't have QBs getting 10 seconds to throw the ball anymore.
We need a stud FB because McClain is gone to get big money. Vonta Leach or Lawrence Vickers should come to Baltimore to win a championship.
We need a back-up QB in case Flacco suffers an injury. I assume Jim Sorgi.

The Ravens have always been a bargain team. They are going to wait until some of the big names go and they will start trying to get the bargains. Like you said for the amount Aso would cost, we could fill up many holes with bargain players.

Interesting, I hadn't heard anything so far on that. Does your friend have any sources for this?

Not really breaking news. I don't think any rationale person was expecting even a thought about looking in to Nnamandi after picking Smith in the draft.

Then apparently the Ravens have a lot of irrational people for fans, because it's all anybody seems to want to talk about. I'm actually hoping this puts most of the chatter about it to bed, but it probably won't.

Edit: This is actually kind of breaking news, as this is the first time someone from the team has stated (at least privately) that we're out of the running for Asomugha.

I sincerely doubt we target the pass rush via Free Agency.

Gaither and Leach could be priority FAs in the future.

I've heard a lot of talk about Bulger actually staying with us.

Also, if we go after Cromrartie I will cry. Please avoid him like the plague.

Well thats the case with most fans. Everyone wants the sexy name in FA.

I originally was a huge supporter of signing Nnamandi, but I quickly changed my opinion once we picked Smith in the 1st round, and didn't address the pass-rush in the early part of the draft.

While Nnamandi might just be the best CB in the NFL, I think I'd rather see Ozzie address QB pressure.

We don't need to go out and get a pass rusher. I know we had a bad year with pass rush, but we have Kindle coming in(who sounds like he's pretty healthy), who hopefully will at least draw some attention to allow Suggs and Ngata to have more space to get a good rush. Now if we can't get Carr back, we will be stupid to not find another CB. We need to get someone like Joesph or Marshall. Then we have to get a starting RT out there somewhere because a rookie can't start week one vs Steelers. We need a backup running back and a backup QB, which can be found at a low price, and we need an actual FB. Working a deal with Ngata and cutting Foxworth to free up cap space to get both a Carr and a Joesph would be a good idea. We'd have so much cap room to get all of this done, but we have shown intrest in none of these things. All we care about is signing our rookies and prescott burgess.

Ok, why do we believe the big head in front of the mirror surrounded by smoke. We all know that the Wizard of Oz is the little guy behind the scenes.

I've said all offseason, Nnamdi isn't worth busting up the team. We could either try to buy at Super Bowl in 2011-2013 or we could continue to build towards a having a Super Bowl caliber team for the long term.

We had to cut guys like Mason and Heap, just to re-sign Yanda and lock Ngata up. Who would we have had to sacrifice to get Nnamdi, Rice? Grubbs? , it just isn't worth it.

Nnamdi would have been great for us, and he'll be great for whomever he ends up with, but we can win without him.

I agree to that statement. it just concerns me I saw an unconfrimed rumor about a trade for dockett...who would we give up for him and why not Ray edwards and have T-sizzle go back to DE have kindle on the right and JJ on the left OL's that would be awesome a run enforcer and a pass rush specialist on each side the better the pass rush the better the secondary and remember Reed and Fox are healthy.

Edwards would be nice talent wise, but his price will be really high. If the Dockett rumor is true, he wouldn't be no where near the price of Edwards.

You can't have the highest paid player at every position and expect to compete long term. I don't know what the cap looks like right now, all i can do is look at reports, but unless it comes straight from the Ravens, it's not fact.

The Ravens don't have too many "NEEDS' in FA. Could we use some upgrades at a few positions? Of course.

The Ravens will add value to this team, it might not be the sexy name that will get up the top story on NFL Network, but i'll be players who will help this team win, and that's all that matters.
