Free Agency Stocks

52 posts in this topic

With Free Agency occurring and players are now in new situations. Express your opinion about who's stock increased or decreased.

Up - Brandon Marshall. Kyle Orton throwing him the ball. He'll be back to a PPR monster.
Down - Sidney Rice. New Team doesn't mean better output. Mike Williams also decreases.

I really have no idea what to think about Daniel Thomas/Reggie Bush.

I believe Marshall is about to become a monster again in football- both fantasy and reality. Marshall was good in PPR leagues last year, but I believe he's one step closer to becoming at least a top 10 reciever in all formats this year.

Shiancoe's value is up as well with McNabb, who loves throwing to the TE. Gave both Celek and Cooley very good seasons.

I have Shiancoe about even. The Vikings drafted another big TE target in Kyle Rudolph in the 2nd round. I expect him to eat away at Shiancoe's production. Plus McNabb has never been a big utilizer of the TEs. He likes to gun it more.

On paper, Seattle's o-line upgrades could mean Beast Mode returns to prominence. I'd still only feel comfortable drafting him as a RB3, but he could produce high-end RB2 returns.

I'd say Kyle Orton's stock is on the rise, playing behind a very good offensive line with receivers like Marshall and Bess.

Miami are also going in for Chicago's TE Greg Olson, apparently.

So here's a question. Do they Henne give it a shot to start the season? He's in his third season, or does Orton come in and start Game 1?

I'm sure they'll say it's an open competition in camp and Orton will win pretty easily.

You don't trade for a Quarterback if you're happy with what you have at the position.

Miami is gonna have a beast Offense, especially if they get Olsen. They would have a good running game like always, but they would instantly be major upgraded in their passing O as well.

Up:
- Ochocinco's stock is up now that he's on the Pats. He's easily their most talented receiver, even at his age, and should be good value if he's taken at the right time.
- Cedric Benson is the only weapon on the Bengals. They're going to run the ball, and you can pick him up fairly late in the draft. Excellent depth pick.
- Ed Dickson is worthy of a pickup now. We all know the TE is important in Cam's offense, and Todd Heap won't be coming back. In the current situation, he's also the second most experienced pass catcher on the Ravens.

Down:
- Anyone on the Seahawks not named Marshawn Lynch
- Anyone on the Browns not named Peyton Hillis
- Anyone on the Redskins
- Brandon Lloyd, if Orton is traded. The QB controversy will be there either way.
- Anyone on the Raiders, including McFadden
- DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. There's no way to know how Rivera will do the split, and with Cam Newton as the QB you know the pass isn't a threat. I wouldn't touch either one of them.
- Frank Gore, he's missing camp and is a huge injury risk anyway.

Matt Forte just took a pretty big hit. Marion the Barbarian figures to steal some goal line touches.

Mike Sims-Walker. Up. Yeah I said it.

Last week didn't want anything to do with him. Today? He's the new piece in Josh McDaniels system on a team that figures to throw a lot. We all saw what McD did with Lloyd last year. MSW just needs to stay healthy. That's a big IF. But his stock still rises in my eyes.

With Leach out of Houston it could change Foster's draft position. Both AP and CJ have veteran QBs behind the helm.

I feel pretty coomfortable in my rankings of:
1) AP
2) CJ
3) Foster
4) Rice

With Donta' Hightower gone, Ryan Williams just moved up my rankings.

With James Jones back, Jordy Nelson's stock has taken a hit.

So true with Ryan Williams. Plus you figure Wells won't stay healthy. His stock rose a ton. But that still doesn't warrant Ryan Matthews 2010 hype.

Jordy Nelson has never really been on my radar (only if James left). I think Jones has the better fantasy season than Nelson.

Hightower to Washington
Down - Torain/Helu

Helu was up as a sleeper for fools, I don't see his stock as changing because it should't have been high to begin with. I watched the guy at Nebraska, he benefited from a good line. Most Husker fans would tell you Burkhead is by far the superior back. The problem with Helu is he doesn't really excel at anything. He's not strong enough to be a bruiser, he's not fast enough to be a speed guy, and I don't think he's that good at finding the hole.

With Williams, the hype won't be there, but I can see him putting up top-25 numbers this season.

I can see Jones outproducing Nelson as well.

I felt that way too. All the mock drafts I did, I never drafted Helu. But CSN came out with a report that he would start week 1, which caused the craze.

But if Torain is healthy, I can't see Shanny not using him. And now you have Hightower as well. Plus they are playing behind a below average O-Line.

I kinda have some love for Santana Moss yet again. The team will be playing behind a lot. Moss at this point in his career does the most damage in slant routes. Which I expect whoever is playing QB to utilize. He won't see the endzone often, but he could be used as a WR3 in a ppr league.

LeSean McCoy - DOWN

Some people say R Brown won't affect McCoy's production. But c'mon its Ronnie freakin' Brown. Eagles want to win this year, not groom for the future so much. If Brown takes snaps and shows he's the more effective back in rushing situations, he can easily steal the spotlight.

McCoy is just down right scary for me to draft in the first round. No matter what their coaches say. "Kolb is our starter".

Good points. Brown is still a more physical runner than McCoy, and like Rotoworld said, he excels in most aspects of the passing game. "Shady" is going to have a tough time holding him off all season.

I'm in complete agreement. Yes, the Eagles have finally improved their OL. But I already felt uncomfortable about McCoy being a Top 10 selection Fantasy rankings wise. Brown will see at least 20% of the touches. Don't see him as more than a #2 RB at the moment.

Zach Miller- Down

If Carlson doesnt get traded, there is no doubt he won't get at least some of the reps at TE. Also, with a better WR corps than OAK (Rice and Mike Williams), Miller is bound to see less targets. That, and he will likely have Whitehurst at QB.

Tavaris Jackson- Up

Acquiring Sidney Rice extremely picked up his stock, but Zach Miller furthered it

Ray Rice- Up

Vontae Leach and valuable depth on the OLine (Rabach) will certainly help his running this year. Plus, Reid is said to be looking good in camp.

Arain Foster- Down

Leach left simple and plain. If they get Vickers though it wont be too much of a loss

Mike Vick- Up

More protection means better running lanes and more time in the pocket. Simple and plain.

I think Whitehurst's stock has plummeted after Carroll announced Tarvaris Jackson as their starter.

Oh and here is another question, if Jackson is the starter why did the Seahwaks give up a high draft pick for Whitehurst in the first place?

Why did Seatle.........(insert transaction here)?

That is a better question. Some Examples
1 Why did Seattle trade for M Lynch?
2 Why did Seattle sign for Z Miller when they had J Carlson?
3 Why does Seattle like to hoarde up bad RBs?
4 Why did Seattle hire Pete C as head coach?

Lynch is the best RB on the roster. He wasted his talent in Buffalo, but proved he could be a good starting RB in this league.

Miller was a FA. Could be looking to trade Carlson.

No awnser for this. Besides Lynch and return specialist Leon Washington, they are all trash. Maybe Forsett could be alright some day.

Because they have no standards

Lynch averaged 3.5 ypc when he was the man in Seattle. Compared to Forsett's 4.4. He was the best because they kept force feeding him the ball. The dude ran into his own blockers more than he picked up first downs. I guess he can't get much worse.

That's what I meant. But still it begs the question. Why did Seattle sign Miller when they had Carlson?

Eh, I've always had a thing for Lynch. I think he goes back to what he used to do when he started in Buffalo. Besides, can't argue with this

Miller is better than Carlson. Maybe they were looking to trade Carlson, or run some 2 TE sets.
