Not a big fan of this. Going on 30, only a 4-3 DE IMO, going to want a big deal, and coming off hip surgery.

Isn't Osi still under contract? Would "getting" him mean giving up some picks and/or players?
Yes, he is still under contract. The only way I can see him coming to the Ravens is if they pay him more (I think he makes around 3M per year on his current deal) and I do not see that happening.

Like you said, he also isnt a great fit scheme-wise. Im not sure if he would really be able to be a 3 down player and you dont want to pay situational pass-rushers upwards of 5M a year.

I think the Ravens need to sit tight with what players they have to boost the pass-rush, namely JJ, Paul Kruger, Sergio Kindle, Pernell McPhee, and Cory Redding.

Way to merge the two and make me look like a fool, moderator!

Completely missed the earlier topic. As you can tell, we've been busy now that football's finally back. ;)

Do you think it's worth it to pay this guy top 5 DE when he's going to be new to the 3-4 system?

that' like giving this guy $10 million dollar plus, which is a lot.
His not worth that much. Id say getting Ray Edwards is a better option then Osi. but that is just me.

From Jamison Hensley's twitter: For those wondering why #Ravens have been inactive in FA, I've projected them to be between $6M and $5M under the salary cap.

We don't have much to spend, we'll have to be very selective. I just don't think we'll be able to give him the type of contract he wants.

He still has 2 years on his contract. 2011: $3.125 million, 2012: $3.975 million, 2013: Free Agent. According to Rotoworld.com

Honestly, I hope the Ravens are just poking the Giants, looking for a trade price. The Giants will probably want something big but Ozzie won't pull the deal on some outrageous offer, like other GMs. I'm hopeful that it doesn't happen.

Agreed. We've drafted all these young players, let's see them go. I'm all for bringing in a pass-rusher but not one that carries the price-tag of a Umenyiora.

I'd also prefer Ray Edwards, but Edwards is expected to land a huge payday, likely bigger than Umenyiora's current contract.

Also, the Ravens have a bunch of "dead money" that's sitting around due to the release of some players, not just the ones let go this offseason. This dead money could be anything from scheduled bonuses to contractual clauses.

I want to know how that hip is doing. I mean offseason hipsurgery is no cake walk. Ask Ed.

Edwards is simply a pricier option. Like Osi, he's never played in a hybrid defense.

I would like to see a guy like Darnell Dockett in the future. Not likely, just a thought of mine.

The Darnell Dockett rumor stems from Dockett touring a $5 million home in MD recently. Dockett went to high school in Burtonsville. Could be something, could be nothing at all. (LINK)

Ohhh, the EC. Ya gotta love it, Darnell. He'd make more sense although he's probably still under contract and only slightly younger than Osi.

Maybe the FO is busy getting Haloti that long term deal. That would create some cap space.

LOL, Darnell Dockett would be awesome since he knows the 3-4 Defense.

We'll just cheer Arizona up by giving a 2nd round pick they lost in the Eagle Heist.

If we do get Dockett, looks like Redding has to go.

I'll take the guy that plays the 3-4 already

Joe is a proven franchise QB and if he can win the Super Bowl, our Front Office will give him $12-15 million dollar contract easily. The premium on Franchise QBs are like $16 million dollars.

Kolbs got paid before he can prove himself, which could be a disaster. Aaron Rogers earned his money by getting 4000 yards and now is considered underpaid with a Super Bowl under his belt.
