1st question Tom Brady or Peyton Manning? Tom Brady has 3 super bowls and if im not mistaken was superbowl MVP twice while Peyton Manning has 1 superbowl but has alot of records. my opinion is Brady because i would rather have championships than statistics.2nd question Ed Reed or Brian Dawkins?with hitting ill give it to Dawkins cuz he probly has more forced fumbles than Reed. with coverage Dawkins is good but noone reeds defenses better than Ed. well its a tie so far except 1 thing...everyone forgets this. Ed Reed wins in my opinion because the Blocked Punts and the record for most interception yards ever in a season. last question. Who will be the team that was not great last year but will surprise everyone this year with wins? I think it will be the 49ers.

IMO:

1.) I like them both but I still would have to take Brady currently because of his overall achievements. Although Peyton did finally kick the monkey off of his back, the key I think is what they do this season.

2.) Both are excellent at their position but I think Reed would get my vote. I think he does more *with* the ball when he has it which is important for a Safety.

3.) I dunno if I'd so much as call them a surprise but I think the Rams are gonna be really good this year, better than teams anticipate and better than their 8-8 record from last year. I think Bulger will have a great year and adding McMichael is HUGE for them as it adds a great red zone threat besides the WRs. I'd say they are predicted for 7-8-9 wins anyways but I wouldn't be surprised to see them pull off 10 or so at least.

Manning

Reed

It's not a surprise if the Niners do it, since everyone is expecting them to bust out. My pick for surprising success is the Lions, because that division is just so vulnerable, and the Lions really have a potentially explosive, big-play offense. I'd like to say the Cardinals, but the only way that they could ever be successful is if the NFL puts in a 'Mercy Rule', where opposing teams have to give the Cards three steamboats before they shred their ineffectual offensive line and sack their quarterback. Of course, if the offseason has given the Cardinals time to teach their line how to block, they'll be a tough team, even in the much-improved NFC West.

1st question. Manning. SB wins aside he's putting up numbers that I doubt anyone will duplicate ever and beating Marino's TD record while throwing minimal amount of INTs says alot.

Brady is a great QB and showed he can put up big numbers with "lesser known" WRs so he should have an outstanding year again this year but Manning has the longevity.

2nd. Reed. Bias of course but mainly it's due to youth. I don't think one can really go wrong with B.Dawk but Ed is younger and he does have that flare to return any INT for a TD.

3rd 'Surprise' team I'd pick Denver. Altho it really shouldn't be a surprise as last year was the first year under shanahan, i believe, that they missed the playoffs and with Cutler getting more time under Center and the addition of Henry at RB I think they are going to have a great year and be the eventual runner ups in the AFC.

1) manning, now that he's got that ring, and questions about his clutch ability are gone, i think he will become more dominant than ever before(except when a certain #20 is at safety)

2)Reed, like tiz said, his returns are certainly a big factor. a pick with a 50 yard return on it is about the same as 2 or 3 sacks and a pick+return for 1 yrd in my books.

The only thing that annoys me about reed is that he came into the league at 24, which only gives us 7 or 8 years to see him at his prime,at the most. I'd have prefered him to come in at 21 or 22, but then again he may not have been the player he is today.

and 3) colts.

nah, only kiddin i'll go texans. I'm a big ahman green fan and I'd like to se him do well in houston.

1) I'd definitely go with Brady. Manning is a system QB. Brady is one of the best QBs in the league, even without great surrounding talent. If Manning were to get hurt, I'd expect Jim Sorgi to come in and throw 30 TDs. However, I think Matt Cassel would probably throw 14 TDs and 16 INTs in New England.

2) Definitely Reed. Dawkins is old and washed up. Reed is still in his prime. However, I don't think Reed is even the best safety on the Ravens. I think Landry is better.

3) I think Jacksonville will win the South (the Colts will be even worse against the run this year, so they won't make it back to the playoffs). I think Pittsburgh and Cincinnati will be Wild Cards. I think Carolina will bounce back. I think Arizona, San Francisco, and St. Louis will all make the playoffs. However, my top surprise team is the Oakland Raiders. They were ranked 3rd in defense last year (about a yard more per game than Jacksonville, but about 20 more yards per game than the Ravens). They've got Rex's brother as their coordinator. Lane Kiffin was probably the best coaching signing this offseason. I could see their defense improving to challenge the Ravens for #1. Russell was the right pick at #1. Calvin Johnson might be the 2nd coming of Charles Rogers. Quinn will have a longer career than Russell, but Russell is going to be among the best QBs in the NFL for his first 5 years or so in the league (JaMarcus is going to have a similar career to Culpepper). Even without a RB and with mediocre WRs (though it was a great move to get rid of "The Cancer" Randy Moss by sending him to New England to take out the Ravens toughest competition), the Raiders will be good enough on offense to win games. Their defense could hold opponents to about 220 points allowed, requiring only about 250-300 points from the offense (and the defense) to be competitive.

1. Manning. Hands down. He has a quick release and pin point accuracy, as well as an cannon of an arm. Brady is still the second best QB in my eyes, but Manning is the real deal, and may go down as the best QB of all time one day.

2. I'll go with Brian Dawkins. He doesn't take as many chances as Reed, so he trades off an ability to make more plays for the condition to give up less big plays. Both are hard hitters, but Dawkins edges out Reed in that category. Dawkins is a better pass rusher, IMO. Reed is, however, the better athlete, but I love Dawkins's instincts.

3. Someone mentioned the Broncos, but they are consistantly good, they won't suprise that many people with wins while they compete with San Diego for the division.

Personal Opinion, I think the Redskins are primed for a comeback season. 9-7 at least... Portis, Moss, Washington, Daniels, Griffin, Springs will all be healthy again, and the addition of London Fletcher adds a proven leader that can keep the defense better organized than that mess that was last year. The offense is bound to be more explosive under Campbell than Brunell's inefficient self.

While I do acknowledge they have been consistently good under Shanahan they are not talked about as one of the top teams in the NFL. Hell just this past Friday Jamie Dukes stated that the only team he expects to see in the playoffs from the AFC west is San Diego.

1. brady. dont get me wrong, manning is a great player but i just think brady is more consistent.

2. reed. with the way reed can run the ball after a funble/interception puts him wayy up in my book. hes not only a great deffensive player but he knows what to do with the other teams offense has made a mistake.

3. denver. for all the reason all of you have said

I think the AFC West is going to breed one of the two wildcards this season.

The other is coming from the South or the North.

Broncos and one of the following three:

Bengals

Steelers

Jaguars

The Broncos upgraded so much this offseason, are not distracted with a QB controversy and are due to make the playoffs again.

I'm predicting an 11-5 Season for them, personally.

IMO

1. Manning....Brady's 3 are very impressive, but Manning didn't have the D that Patriots had all those years. I'm sure no one in Baltimore would disagree that Dfense win championships.

2. Neither.....I'll take Bob Sanders. Guy hit's like a truck! But nice thing about Reed is it's a given he will play all 16 games.....Sanders has not even come close.

4. Bengals....When they decide to play as a team they are going to be tuff to beat. (ewwww.....I feel all dirty inside....I just said something nice about the Bengals!)
