Anyone Else Watching NFL Network A Lot More?

18 posts in this topic

I know I have been watching NFL Network a lot more lately! Usually I just catch Total Access but now it's more like I catch it whenever I'm home lol!

Today was the first day in two or three months that I've watched NFL Network for longer than 15 minutes. I've only kept track of the Top 100 list through NFL.com. Otherwise, I've had no reason to tune in.

I never realized how much I've missed Rich Eisen and Fran Charles until today when they slipped back into their familiar roles. I also forgot how much I hated Warren Sapp and Jamie Dukes on commentary; I wish I was never given a reminder of that, actually.

I just use Twitter to keep on track of the movements. And thanks to my new iPhone, I get my information pretty quickly.

Way too much posturing on NFL Network. Just discuss the headlines, enough grandstanding and trying to sound like you know it all. Would also appreciate less street talk but I know what you get when you hire former players to be analysts.

It bothers me that other former players don't appear to put in the work that Marshall Faulk and Kurt Warner have. Faulk is my current favorite player-turned-analyst, largely because he presents himself well and knows how to hold his own in a debate without getting emotional. Like Faulk, Kurt Warner appears to be the consummate professional and you can really tell that he's trying to get better.

I don't like it when players throw around rhetoric like they know better just because they've played the game. Experience isn't a substitute for doing research and vice versa. There's a time and place for each, and I can't take guys like Michael Irvin and Warren Sapp seriously when they try to go largely off their experience. Faulk introduces statistics while explaining them in context. I can't ask for anything more from Faulk as a former player.

Yeah Faulk is great, we need more intelligent former players as analysts instead of these self-centered loudmouths. Jamie Dukes is probably the worst of them all TBH. He tries too much to be a television personality. Get a sitcom, I'd rather hear some expert analysis backed by statistics.

I'd honestly like to see more of Faulk more so than Dukes or Sapp. Lord knows we could certainly see more of Billick too lol!

Can't stand Jaimie Dukes or Warren Sapp. And on that note, I hate Chris Carter and Keyshawn Johnson, and never like Joe Thiessman. Former players turned analysts are terrible. Irvin and Young are alright, and I like Faulk and Warner, but thats pretty much it.

Personally I just love when Jaimie Dukes gets in fights with people during debates.

They certainly arent the cream of the crop, but they are way better than Dukes and Sapp.

I swear that every time I switched over last night and again this morning, they were replaying the same Irvin rant about the Patriots. Once was more than enough of that. The minute I hear his voice or see his face, I hit the clicker.
