Are We Going After Anybody?

I wonder how the Jets can go crazy in Free Agency and still make it to the playoffs?

$2.5 M on Santonio's cap this year, that's some serious salary cap they have to face in the next 4 years.

Here is the exact quote from Harbaugh

"There’s probably going to be an opportunity in terms of the market being flooded with players that has never happened in the history of the National Football League, and probably won’t happen again for at least 10 years"

That's alot of hints for all the doubters for us not making any moves in FA.

We are not in the discussion of NFL reports, which doesn't mean we are not making anything happened in the free agent market.

Unfortunately, I don't think most of us would be clamoring for FA signings if we didn't release Mason and Heap. I can see Heap signing with the Cardinals pretty soon, maybe before the Ravens get a chance to resign him. He's from Arizona, spends his offseasons there, practiced with Larry Fitzgerald there during the lockout, and the Cards just got Kolb and are probably looking for some more receiving options. Since they have no real receiving TE and Breaston might go to KC, I think this move makes a lot of sense. I still hope we keep Mason, though. But don't worry guys, there are still a lot of good FAs on the market to be had. The frenzy of this year's free agency should be over by Friday, and then I think the Ravens will start making some signings.

I don't know how thrustworty this guy is, but it looks like no Heap to AZ.

Chris Johnson just got released from the Raiders...I'd be ok with signing him on the cheap...this also means the Raiders might be close to signing Cromartie.

Aaron Wilson's pretty reliable. I really hope this puts an end to the "Heap to AZ" mess, it was far-fetched to being with, considering the Cardinals are mainly interested in blocking tight ends.

Why are we losing key players, but we have not signed anyone.

Patience!

This is why:

Jamison Hensley: "Half of #Ravens' cap -- $62.3M of it -- is taken up by nine players: Ngata, Suggs, E.Reed, Foxworth, Boldin, Lewis, Flacco & J.Johnson"

Don't know about anyone else but I'm starting to get a little worried about our offensive line issue. We can add better receivers, desire to have a better ground game......but if the offensive line isn't there we're in trouble.

True. Our line wasn't good last year, and all we did so far is lose Chester and add Reid. Doesn't seem like enough.

Yea i can't lie that i too am getting really frustrated. It seems like the elite/good teams are getting much, much better, while all we've done is lose key free agents and add rookies. Teams like the Pats get Haynesworth, Ocho and the Jets are most likely going to pick up Nnamdi with the Texans picking up Joseph. I just want my Ravens to do something to make me feel better

Relax this happens every year. The Ravens wait and see a few days in which directions the market is going and every year fans are losing it, because they want a player now.

Well thats the problem with having a lot of star players that make a lot of money. We dont really have the Cap Space to sign many Free Agents. The FO needs to prioritize who we can bring in/bring back. Yanda was the top priority and he has been taken care of. I think we will sign a CB still and maybe a WR or FB, but we dont really have the cap room to sign a big-named guy.

That's why the only thing fans control in the NFL is Pro Bowl voting.

Chester's no big loss in my opinion.

Wow.. Maybe Bisciotti should just fire Ozzie and hire one of y'all. Relax, our guys know what they're doing.

This place went from the overjoy that the lockout is over to the typical whining that happens every stinking year in about 3.7 seconds. Its unreal, yet I fully expected it.

Seriously. The blog comments are unbearable. Everyone whining about how all of our rivals are doing so much more when the only thing that has really happened has been Fat Albert and Ochocinco going to New England. :34853_shakehead:

I think people should be aware that our team can still make it to the playoffs with our current roster, since Ozzie did a good job building a strong foundation.

While all the other teams overpay for their star players, I believe Ozzie will get those gems to fill up depth over star power.

Remember this year, a lot of experts believe injuries are going to happen left to right because of the shortened offseason. If that is the case, then the Ravens should sign as many role-players and quality fill-ins like the Packers before they are all scooped up when the injury-filled season starts.

There fixed it for ya. I agree with you that Oz did a good job building this team and that he will fill the team with quality backups that also can step up when they need to.

Okay, this made me laugh amidst all this FA angst. Mainly because I can picture a certain poster clamoring for Russel to start over Flacco as he does with every back-up QB.
