Sunday QB

Are We Going After Anybody?

Well, we have to get it right at WR sooner or later. Between Torrey, Doss and Reed, one of them has to pan out

I see alot of teams re-signing and adding players and was wondering what Ozzie planning.
Im thinking the same thing, the only WR that is still avalible is S.Smith and he said he wants to play here, all the other good to great WRers are gone. Our we signing Josh Wilson or are going after another CB that is proven. I want the Ravens to sign a decent name it doesnt have to be a huge name but someone that can make a differace the first game.

No ,Randy is a Cancer and to me is lazy, he doesnt make that much of a differ. on a team. I say Steve Smith, he still has some gas in the tank and is only 32 correct me if im wrong. He isnt the tallest guy but he is fast and man has ups (can Jump). He didnt play well last yr for a reason because why would you risk getting hurt on a 2-14 team that doesnt have a QB. He will make a diff. and will try because all he wants now is a SB ring and he knows The Ravens can potentially do that especially with him on the team.

Randy is done in my book, reminds me of T.O, No Thank You, put a fork in him , he is done. Nobody wants him, thats why he is still avalible, i think our best chance with a WR was Sidney Rice but that hope came crashing down today when i found out he went to the SEAHAWKS.

I wish we could post this as a headline on the website. Maybe the Flacco haters would realize how lucky we are to have a QB as good as him. Flacco has never thrown more INTs than TDs, yet gets all the hate while Sanchez sucks but is a media darling.

I wish Joe was as good as Sanchez in the playoff though

Are you kidding me, what the heck. Now what, maybe Antonio Cromarti (JETTS) or dare i say we call up ASM from the Raiders. (seriously doubt but if we did could you imagine)

Theres another blow to my hopes for the Ravens, they better have some plans for some FA because it really isnt looking too good to me. All my Favorite player are getting traded or cut, i much rather have Wilson than Yanda (way overpaid if you ask me)

This is <crap>.

Come on Ravens staff do something to really Impress me cause all im seeing is dissapointment, one after another.

I think you're overestimating what Sanchez has done in the playoffs. He was handcuffed more than usual both times the Jets made it to the post-season, perhaps more than Flacco is handcuffed all the time. Sanchez appears good in the playoffs because he hasn't been asked to do anything.

Wilson was a good corner for us, and a solid pickup for last season. I'd have liked to resign him, but he's nothing special. Yanda's by far the better player. Mason and possibly Heap are likely coming back after they clear waivers. We haven't made any trades...

I think Heap and Mason will not be returning to Baltimore. Heap has been in question by ravens front office by couple years, I thought Heap was gonna go last year. As much as I like Heap, he is a fan favorite I kinda felt Heap going before long. However, I figured Mason woulda done 1 more year with us than retired.

Still a ton of good players that are going to be cut.

Ozzie has a plan and you need to give it time to play out. When was the last time the Ravens operated like the deadskins?

Thats not the point my friend , what im saying is Wilson to me is more valuable than Yanda (you do have to admit that he is a bit overpaid) and just found out Wilson signed for 3 ys for 13.5 million which kind of pisses me off because i know we could have matched that. It looks like our Defense if anything is going to be worse (praying i way off on that). Yea we got Jimmy Smith but he is a rookie and we dont know what to expect with him.

Dont get me wrong i do like Yanda. Its just im seeing all of our players getting cut or traded and we arnt going after anyone. Soon there wont be anyone to get.

Im just starting to get really really Nervous about what is going on with our team, im seeing all of these great players going to all of these teams and it just looks like we arnt doing jack. We cant even keep half our free agents. I know there is a cap but is it just me or does it seem that all these teams are spending alot of money and we really arnt spending anything.

Example- The Jetts , they are spending all this money and keeping all of their big names and are still going after big names, i hear they our still going after asomugha.

Well maybe we can possible get Asomugha (doubting it but he is still up for grabs) and the RAVENS really havnt made any big moves so im hoping they got something up their sleeve, i hope.

Jonathan Joseph is still up for grabs but the thing with that is i think Wilson was just as good if not better because he had a yr under his belt with a Defense which is kind of complex compared to most and he was making plays as soon as he started to get fimilar with the playbook.

Agreed , i thought he would have atleast one more yr before he retired and i personally believe we owe it to him, A SB ring which i believe we can get one this yr.

I keep hearing that Floyd seems like a possible match with the Ravens.
I've heard good and bad things about him though.
I'd like to see Heap and Mason back, they are the leading Ravens receivers.

The money he has been payed is based on what we project he will do at guard, not what he did at tackle last year. That slightly irks me but considering guard is his natural position he should do better than he did at tackle last year. The way I see it, if he makes the Pro-Bowl or barely misses the cut he has earned the contract, also considering his versatility advantadge.

Jimmy Smith, although he is a rookie, should give our D a boost. If we resign Carr, Fox, Smith, Webb, and Carr should be better than what we had last year. Not to mention Kindle is returning which should affect the pass rush along with the Matt Roth signing and another year of Redding being adjusted to the 3-4. He did a lot better at the end of the year then the beginning, and if he keeps it up he can provide some quality pressure. Not to mention our offensive rookies giving our offense a boost.

As I said in other threads, The Steelers, Packers, Colts, and Patriots aren't making many moves either, and they (including us) are considered the top 5 teams in the NFL (at least in my opinion).

I'm glad you pointed out that example. If the Jets do find a way to sign Asoumgha, they will be animals next year, and maybe the year after that, but they will have to cut a bunch of quality players and sink back to the bottom of the league eventually. Hell the only reason the Holmes deal worked of is it only has a 2 million cap hit the first year. Not to mention Mangold, Pace, Revis, and Fergeson's new deal among others.

And lastly, MY MAIN POINT, we don't know anything except UDFA signings till friday. We might have already signed Asomgha, we have no clue. So if you spew this criticism at least wait till then (Strictly talking about FA, Wilson over Yanda is your opinion and I respectfully disagree for this main reason, championships are made in the trenches).

Yea ive been watching the NFL Network the last few hrs, and they have no clue where Asomgha is going to end up, they say he might go to the Texans but on the other hand they are saying he might go to a team that no one is even talking about (which is good because they arnt talking about the Ravens)

They are also saying that he is holding out for other teams to match a team that is offering him money but he probably doesnt want to go to because from my understanding he wants to go to a Team that has a chance to go to the SB. And if that is true then i think we have a good chance at getting him because although the Ravens really dont get much press, The Media all knows that we are a Contending Team yr in yr out.

So we signed Yanda, which was great for us; however we have done nothing else so far. I know I may be jumping to conclusions, but some of the biggest FAs are being signed as we speak. I think if we don't act soon we may have pulled a Redskins and gotten worse during free agency. We will have entered into the season extremely unexperienced on offense and without a key player in Josh Wilson on defense. Correct me if I'm wrong or tell me how we can dig ourselves out of this hole.

We need some OL depth.

Chris Chester gone ... unbelieveble overpayment. Wonder what Gaither will get. Still hoping he re-signs for around $3M per with incentives.

JasonLaCanfora Jason La Canfora
Chris chester agreed to deal w redskins for $20M over 5 years. Reunites w/old OL coach. A move I wrote about weeks ago

Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome is doing the right thing by not rushing out to sign free agents. The first 72 hours have been hectic, but the market will start to settle down this weekend.

By Monday, things will have started to return to normal, and eventually there will be some good deals for the Ravens as some quality players fall through the cracks.

There is no need to mortgage the club's future at this point by signing players to bloated contracts, and there's still plenty of time for the Ravens to fill their needs at cornerback, receiver, fullback and backup quarterback.

The Ravens have been consistent with their history of not rushing out to sign players, and that philosophy has made them one of the better franchises in the NFL.

sure, we've been one of the better franchise in the NFL but let's keep it real...NOT a Superbowl winner in 11 years. smh! let's see IF we go after some of these quality FAs that could definitely make the Ravens ummm....what's the buzz word that the coaches love to use? oh yeah...BETTER!
