I think Doss will be better the T Smith...
Statistically sure, but remember Desean jackson only had 46 grabs last year. That's why deep threats rarely have 1,000 yard seasons, you're not going to get 1,000 yards running goes and slants.

Smith just has to out run people.

Jets haven't built anything. They're still massively over the cap and will have to find a way to get under it by Friday. That's the problem with renting a team, it's not sustainable.

Not to mention they have Mr 55% Completion Percentage at the helm....hahahaha!

Throwing WRs and TEs into the fire is one thing. If Redding was cut, the only players who would step into his place are Kruger, Jones, and McPhee.

Redding has to stay.
Apparently Art Jones looks pretty Sveldt at 320. I'm pretty excited about him.

I read that too. I'm excited to see him in action, and I think he can be a quality player long-term. But the team will need an established player like Redding battling in the trenches Week 1. Jones and Redding can push him for snaps as the seasons wears on.

Who do you guys want to replace Gaither, he is talking to Oakland and is probably heading west. Give me a few names and what veteran WR, DE and CB should we grab?
I think we should replace Gaither with Gaither. He's probably the most undervalued FA on the market right now. There's no buzz around him whatsoever, and the only team I know of whose showed interest in him is the Raiders...and they have plenty of connections to him through us. He should be a priority imo.

I don't think were grabbing any DEs.

I don't think were likely to grab any WR's. We'll probably resign Mason and possibly Heap as well. Malcom Floyd is going to be a more expensive version of James Hardy and Sidney Rice and Santonio Holmes are off the market. Stonehands Edwards is a joke, and while I'm sure there are plenty of passable #2's, there aren't any other big names out there at the moment (afaik). I could see us picking someone who gets cut later in the week to clear up cap room.

Nnamdi and Joseph are CB possibilities. So are tons of other solid, not "star" CB's. I'll cry if we go after Cromrartie.

I'd also look to us signing a FB. Leach and Vickers have been thrown around a lot.

Dont want to hear cap bs if the jets can sign everyone and they were suppose to be maxed out then we should be able to figure it out too.
The Jets aren't signing everyone. They've made one huge signing and are going to be right at or over the cap once they sign their rookies, UDFAs, and RFAs. They're just talking. They're the Jets. Its what they do.

Jones was supposed to be a top 20 pick. He's similar athletically and length wise to Muhammad Wilkerson.

I don't think he's quite as athletic as Wilkerson, but he's definitely got the length, size and strength.

Injuries. He tore his pectoral muscle, and I think he had another injry as well. Those injuries took him off the field, and affected his play.

Here we go...

If we want to focus on Combine numbers, he also had a 1.50 10-yard split, which means he'll be getting behind NFL CBs.

and once hes behind them hes not blazing fast so they will recover quickly,

he did not get great separation in college why will he in the nfl?

Actually his measurables were supposedly almost exactly the same (sub 5.0 40 30 inch vert and what not), it was just injuries. It takes longer for lineman to recover from injury so he fell like a rock. besides neither of them are like jj watt athletic.

It was originally a 4.37 then they changed it, besides pretty much everyone shaved .07 on their proday, so they could have easily reported it a 4.35 and everyone would think he's fast. The raven's scouts were there with clocks, they timed him the know. He tore up the ACC, it's not the SEC but it's still a strong conference.

There's no reason he can't improve as a route runner. And even if CBs recover deep, Torrey has the size, length, and hops to make contested grabs.

I'm not expecting a ton from him early, but I think he can be a player.

Where are those numbers coming from because Jones didn't participate in the Combine or Syracuse's Pro Day.

Draft scout, it's from Syracuse training camps before jones got injured. I couldn't tell you about drills though, since they didn't run those. That's why i said supposedly, since it's from his school, but from watching him vs. cincinnati I would say he has good speed, but he doesn't quite run like a deer the way elite 5 techniques do. Hopefully with his fitness he'll improve.

He is a violent man though.

I keep forgetting how bad Mark Sanchez is. I mean, under 55% competition for both his seasons, 6.6 yards/attempt, more INTs than TDs, and a 70 QB rating. And they traded up for that?

Lol..I like that renting a team.. it seems like every year they have a completely new team and still comes up short. It's really funny how desperate they are trying to sign Aso when they already have a shutdown corner. They build there team through free agency. They suck at drafting.

I wish we could post this as a headline on the website. Maybe the Flacco haters would realize how lucky we are to have a QB as good as him. Flacco has never thrown more INTs than TDs, yet gets all the hate while Sanchez sucks but is a media darling.

How about we try being optimistic that this isn't a moment where we credit history. new beginning...give the guy a chance.

I can respect that. No worries. Just seems like some are really kicking these guys in the pants before we get started.
