I think Floyd is just a good fit in the system over in SD, I don't see him making much of an impact here.

San Diego runs the same system we do.

Torrey Smith, Tandon Doss, David Reed, and Hardy we signed in January , we don't need Floyd. Let these young guys shine. I am fed up up with old Over valued veteran slow receivers.

Mike Duffy just said in an interview on 105.7 not to rule out the Ravens signing another vet wide receiver. They can't feel totally confident with Boldin and a bunch of rookies or unprovens.

Floyd makes a lot of sense, but it won't come right away because they need to see what they have in their young receivers. I think Smith is pretty much a given but we will see who else out of Hardy, Doss, Reed, and Harper makes a name for themselves.

I can't wait to see these guys in the preseason, the young WR battle is the one I'm looking most forward too.

Fun things to look for this pre season:

Who will compose our WR corps?
Who is the back up RB to Rice (I personally love the potential of a Rice, Allen, Leach run game)
Can Jah Reid step right in at RT? (if so, that would be huge)

Agreed. Rivers has a touch of making any receiver look like a stud. Last year was case in point, it didn't matter who was out there, they were making plays because Rivers and their spread option allowed it to.

I think if the Ravens bring Floyd here, we are going to be greatly disappointed. With that being said, I'd still like to see us bring in a mid-range Vet. And Floyd could fill that role. But I wouldn't offer the guy a lucrative contract.

Does anyone has a list of all the free agent WR out there, because I seems like a lot of people here are focusing in on moss, floyd or mason. There have to be other options out there than only these 3.

Demetrius Williams is out there?

Maybe we should give him a call
But then, if he can't get a spot in the Browns' WR Corps, then his future in the NFL is done.

I think the Ravens will take a wait-and-see approach to signing another WR. If the young guys practice well and play well in the preseason, I see Ozzie signing a guy just for depth. Otherwise, I think he will get a proven vet starter a few weeks from now via FA or trade. Ozzie has a habit of signing FA and performing trades a week or two before the regular season.

I'd see Clayton and possibly Housh as other options.

The problem with Housh is the same problem with Mason though, they both have the same skillset as Boldin.

Floyd and Moss are most talked about because they're big red zone targets, which we had a notable lack of last season.

Just heard this:
"michaelombardiMichael Lombardi

Yes confirmed from 2 NFL team sources, the Jets are willing to trade WR--Jerrico Cotchery-possiblely to free up cap space and sign other FAs"

I don't pay attention to the Jets so i don't know much about him, other than his name.
Is he worth the Ravens giving a shot?

Mark hasn't even recovered from the injury he suffered last season. For that reason alone, I'd pass.

As for Q, he's a great red zone target. Had he actually been put in motion and/or been allowed to run some bubble screens near the goal-line, he may have scored a few more TDs.

I've always been a fan of Cotchery. But the injury concerns are too great. A serious back injury and getting hit by linebackers is a scary thought.

i'm almost positive I read somewhere that Clayton intends on returning to St Louis. But regardless, I really dont think he's the kinda guy we want getting in the way of the rooks, given his history here.

Believe it or not, of all these names I believe Mark Clayton (if fully recovered) may be the best fit. He has experience with the offense and Joe Flacco and will be able to fit right in with his great attitude...

Same story different day, the Ravens are still very interested in Floyd. Hensley just tweeted. #Ravens still have strong interest in #Chargers free-agent WR Malcom Floyd.

Even though the info hasn't changed. Floyd could be closer to the Ravens then before. Anytime a player is linked to the Ravens this long, they usually get signed.

I think right now Floyd is looking for more of a #1 WR role, but I don't think any team will bite on that. Floyd has spent many years behind V. Jax and would face the same situation here with Boldin. I think Floyd wants to make a name for himself.

With the info that the Ravens are still "Strongly Interested" in Floyd, I think Mason's days are pretty much over in Bmore.

Just read this from this site http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/football?rw=1

The Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens have "strong interest" in free agent Malcom Floyd.
They clearly prefer Floyd to free agent Braylon Edwards. Floyd turns 30 before the season, but can stretch the field with a career yards-per-reception average of 17.27. He also broke into the league with the Chargers when Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron held the same position in San Diego back in 2004.

As much of a clown as he is, I'd rather see Edwards brought in on a short-term deal than Floyd.
Edwards would probably be a really good fit, but at what point will he realize that he won't get #1 WR type money from a contending team.

And also, he's probably looking for a long term, last big payday type contract. I think the Ravens are really high on our young WR, we just would rather have a guys like Floyd or maybe Mason for this year.

Right now, Floyd is over Mason imo because he brings size and a playmaking ability to this offense. Mason brings consistency, but nothing more then what Boldin can do. So I think that's Ozzie's thinking right now.

if edwards hands were a little better and he didnt have off the field trouble someone would have signed him already, the dude needs to grow up...and catch the ball more consistently..maybe Doss can teach him

I highly doubt Edwards is on the front office's radar for a number of reasons. Mason and Floyd are the two obvious candidates currently, but from strictly a football standpoint, I think Braylon would be a better option than Floyd.

Despite his low catch total, I think he'd definitely strike enough fear in defenses deep.

I think if we add Floyd you can look back to that 2009 game vs SD as a preview to what we'll expect from him. That basketball type, jumpball play. Let Flacco drop back and sling it deep, Floyd goes up and comes down with it.

I think plays like this is what the Ravens are looking at as the reason Floyd is atop their WR FA list.

I would rather have floyd if for nothing else to see how flacco does with such a big target. He has not had that physical presence before and that combination of skills so I would like to see how that goes. If it works than great if it does not just one more notch in the Raven;s belt of picking terrible receiver's.
