Just had a great laugh. Figured would share the article..

Thanks, Steelers

Many of us awakened to learn the Pittsburgh Steelers blessed us with a big favor, last night. That’s right, they gave Ike Taylor a new 4-year deal to remain part of the team’s secondary. But, if you think Baltimore fans are happy, there’s a great chance a member of the Ravens is ecstatic

Quarterback, Joe Flacco, was all smiles as he learned the news. Then again, any quarterback would be overjoyed to learn the archrival was bringing back a cornerback who is best described as one step up from a sawhorse on training wheels. Many thanks, Mr. Rooney ….

Ike was decent for them and has shown potential but like others said...it's not like we have to game plan around the guy

I was already happy about the Ike deal prior to the article. If Joe is happy about the deal then I am super excited about the Steelers 4 year commitment. And the reducing the likely hood of Aso being signed is a just a bonus.

I know front offices try to keep their QB happy by giving them weapons, but I have never hear of a rival front office making an opponents QB happy about a signing. Just too funny. lol

Now we just need to resign those released <crosses fingers>

I don't think we'll ever not struggle against the Steelers defense until we adopt a new identity when we face them. They're too good against the whole run first, power football teams like ourselves. The way to beat them is to expose their weakness: that they have poor depth in the defensive backfield. The Packers did this to them and won, as did the Patriots. We're not going to beat them by consistently running the ball or bringing out multiple TE/RB sets. It's time to put faith in Joe's arm and his ability to run the offense. (of course, ideally the O-line needs to improve for this to be most effective, but that's not beyond reason)

The steelers fans all celebrate Taylor shutdown corner....I was confused at first why's every1 so happy about this deal; then, I was like the dude shutdown is a joke. If they perceive it that way, I'll bet Joe is happy person. He was happy btw....

I honesty have never heard this phrase. What does it mean? The first thing that came to my mind was this...

Actually, he IS their best CB. If Flacco was to go against Bryant McFadden and William Gay as the Steelers' starting corners on September 11th, he would have had 300+ yards easily... it wasn't Taylor who was burned in the SBowl.

Besides, the Steelers' pass D is structured around rushing the passer, not coverage... Whether they sign Woodley to a long-term deal is worth watching. They've franchised him for $10 million.

This is NOT a reason for Ravens fans to celebrate...

From ESPN: "Danny Tuccitto (Football Outsiders): Other than Darrelle Revis, Ike Taylor is the only cornerback in the NFL whose main responsibility in coverage is to shadow the opponent's best wide receiver regardless of where that receiver lines up in the formation. As an example of Taylor's proficiency in that role last season, the Steelers were a better team against their opponents' No. 1 wide receivers than the Jets were against theirs..."

Exactly, the Steelers' corners don't need to be as good because their pass rush is so tremendous. That's why we absolutely had to sign Yanda.

Dude, we know you're a Steelers fan. You don't have to hide it, nothing to be ashamed of...other than your own trollhood.

The Steelers now need to cut a lot of players, or cut a few big name guys. Harrison, is that your bell tolling?

How is this not good news for them?!? Regardless of what happened in their last game, that same secondary has managed to get them to the Superbowl 2 times in the last 3 years.

They really had no other choice. No way you start a season with Bryant Mcfadden as your starter, and every other corner out there besides Aso and maybe Joseph is a step-down.

He's a very good fit for their system. He probably wouldn't be nearly as good with a team that plays mostly man to man, but he does play a zone well.

He's the best CB the team has had in 10 yrs... some think he's not so good. I guess 'relativity' applies here. But Ike probably has more speed than Mike Wallace, if he could just use his "other" skills to complement. But the teams other corners, McFadden and Gay, are absolutely "Horrible" (with a capital H)! There's a new DB coach, Lake, so we'll see if there's improvement ??

foote needs to be gone, randel el, arnez battle, and either colon or starks will be gone, with the possibility of flozell the hotel being gone as well. Hell i would be stoked if we cut ties with either (or both) mcfadden and gay

Aaron Smith will either be gone, or will restructure his contract due to his injuries, although i would be comfortable with Hood taking over for him full time

Happy about Ike? When has any Ravens WR ever had success against him???
Mason has gotten the best of him over the years. Ike shut him down with ease in the latter two games last season though.

Now if the Steelers can sign William Gay to a long term extension, say 5-7 years. <That would be a bonus>

For you guys (and everyone else on our schedule with at least two WR's), yes and THAT I can certainly agree with. Too bad too because dude is a great blitzer.

I'm not so sure that is true. Maybe some catches but I doubt Mason has had the upper hand throughout any game. Ike Taylor is terribly underrated (and once was by yours truly).

Yeah, I don't understand this... I was hoping he'd be snatched up by someone else. Ike is very good CB. Better than anyone currently on our roster, that's for sure.

I clearly remember Mase abusing Ike in Flacco's first prime time game. He finished with 8 catches 137 yards.

Regardless, that was a while ago. I definitely agree Ike is underrated.
